Visitors to the Learning Garden will be greeted by a dazzling display of dahlias. In keeping with the theme ‘Let Freedom Ring’, the blueberries and red raspberries are producing and just the right height for the kids to sample. The petunia bed is showing off the US Flag with red, white and blue flowers along with a very patriotic vegetable bed.
What is wrong with my tomato! What’s Bugging my Vegetables? Poster board displays in the Hoop House will answer those questions and more. See examples of raised bed and container gardening plus native plants and varieties to attract pollinators to your garden. Potted Dahlias will be available for a donation.
The Extension Master Gardener Program is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. The program originated at Washington State University in 1973 and has grown to over 86,000 volunteers in 49 states. Statewide Oregon Master Gardeners donated an estimated 27 tons of fresh produce, harvested from Master Gardener-managed community and demonstration gardens to local food banks and food pantries.
Tillamook Master Gardener Hosts will be in the Learning Garden from 10 am to 7pm each day and welcome your questions. Enjoy a quiet place to sit in the shade and enjoy our beautiful garden.

After making cards we will gather in small groups and learn how to read the cards by giving voice to the images. This is where the process which begins as simple creative fun, might suddenly surprise you!
This is a multi-layered creative process that anyone can do. Beginners are welcome and encouraged to attend!
Space is limited. Please email Carolyn if you’d like to attend. Tea and snacks will be available.

Director Jonathan Demme captures the frantic energy and artsy groove of Talking Heads in this concert movie shot at the Hollywood Pantages Theatre in 1983. The band’s frontman, David Byrne, first appears on an empty stage, armed with only an acoustic guitar, and is gradually joined by bassist Tina Weymouth, drummer Chris Frantz, keyboardist Jerry Harrison and a cadre of backup singers as they perform the band’s hits, culminating in an iconic performance featuring Byrne in an enormous suit.
Bring what you need: blankets, chairs, drinks and/or snacks. Be prepared to get up and dance! Costumes are encouraged.
Monday August 7th.
Free and open to all.

Mussel Foraging and Cooking Demonstration as part of Neskowin’s Farm & Feast Event in Neskowin, OR.
We will gather where the forest meets the sea to see first-hand how to forage for food in the intertidal ecosystems of the Oregon Coast, using sustainable techniques for harvesting. Alanna will harvest all mussels for the group to taste during the cooking demonstration.
We will discuss the general oceanography and ecology of our rocky shores, as well as identify various edible species that are abundant on our shores, including mussels, barnacles, and seaweed.
Witness a beachside cooking demonstration and tasting of our foraged goods, paired with local Wolfmoon bread & Carola Wines.
After this foraging demonstration, Neskowin’s Farm and Feast will be going on with various food and wine vendors all around Oregon.

Pacific Dulse is a regenerative, nutrient-rich crop native to Oregon. Oregon Seaweed is growing dulse in tanks on land in Garibaldi, OR. Come learn about the industry of seaweed farming! Students will get a cooking demo, tasting and be able to harvest their own seaweed to take home.

Sorry for any confusion and we hope to see you on Saturday!
