On Saturday, August 19th, the children of Osborne will give away his many different works to the community.
A lifelong artist, Osborne’s creations incorporate both traditional and contemporary styles. Prints, posters, framed and unframed works will all be available, from 10AM-to-5PM at Tolovana Hall, in Cannon Beach.
“Donald Osborne was first and always an artist,” his family remembers. “Early photos in his youth, show him in profile, with sketchbook and charcoal pencil in hand, observing/capturing Aging Barns, Rugged Landscapes, and natural ‘artifacts’ discovered on the shorelines of lakes, rivers and the Pacific Ocean.”
“During his life he produced and exhibited fine and commercial art in the Northwest corner of Oregon; taught art in public, private schools and community colleges, and developed a strong sense of community.”
That community include the Tolovana Arts Colony. There, Osborne was involved in numerous group exhibitions and also designed promotional flyers for Arts Colony events.
Arts Colony board member Debra Carnes remembers being welcomed by Osborne into the Cannon Beach arts community.
Osborne also designed some of the famous Cannon Beach Sandcastle Contest posters.
To ensure equitable distribution of his works, the family and the Arts Colony may limit the number of items gifted to each attendee. (IE: One person may not claim the entire estate.)
Light refreshments will be provided.
In the spirit of giving, the family will be accepting donations of cash and non-perishable food items to support the local food pantry.
Tolovana Hall is located at 3779 S Hemlock on Cannon Beach. For more information, call 541-215-4445, email tolovanaartscolony@gmail.com, or visit tolovanaartscolony.org.
