Come view the presentation of local resident, Garry Gitzen, who was invited to speak at the St Francis Yacht Club Luncheon on San Francisco Bay this past Dec. 6, 2023. The yacht club is considered one of the most recognized yachting clubs in the world. His talk is titled “Who Made the Brass Plate Citing Sir Francis Drake’s California Landing.”

Garry has been recognized as the leading Francis Drake historian on the west coast and will be at the library to answer all questions concerning why Francis Drake landed in Nehalem Bay in the summer of 1579. And why Captain Drake never landed in any other theorized bay, including California.

Garry Gitzen is the author of “Francis Drake in Nehalem Bay 1579, Setting the Historical Record and 8 other titles connected with Francis Drake and the current President of the Francis Drake Association. The association promote the development of a Coastal Shorelines Flood Explorer Report for communities to increase their understanding of what could be at risk without future planning and adaptation by coastal communities, governments, and businesses.
