Hat and Water bottles Lost!

Submitted By: acwolf21@icloud.com – Click to email about this post
Hello Community!

It was wonderful to dance and hang on the beach with you last night : )

I lost a favorite hat of mine! It is pink with a hand painted wave on it, I hung it off of the wooden sign post up on the dune/dance floor.

I also lost two loved water bottles. One is a large black one with stickers. There is one of a radicchio and a Sasquatch on it. Then a small kids sized black water bottle with some cool local stickers on it.

If anyone has seen these items will you text me?

Thank you : ) Happy recovery day!

Oops! Overlooked businesses

The parade committee messed up! Forgot to mention these two business:

Manzanita Grocery and Deli – donation jar
Nehalem Lumber Yard – $100 donation

Please forgive us — you have our thanks! And if your business got left off the list, please let us know.

Also, donations were accepted when working at the parade registration desk on the 4th. Again, our thanks!

We had the BEST TIME on the 4th! The weather couldn’t have been nicer, and everyone worked together to pull off a wonderful “Return to Glory” parade. Thank you everyone, and see you next year!

Legendary Bluesman Norman Sylvester in Cannon Beach: Sunday, July 16th

Submitted By: tolovanaartscolony@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
Join us on Sunday, July 16th, as the legendary bluesman Norman Sylvester performs a *FREE* concert in Cannon Beach’s downtown city park.

Known as the “Boogie Cat,” Sylvester was inducted into the Oregon Music Hall of Fame in 2011. He’s shared stages with a who’s-who of the blues, including BB King, Buddy Guy, Mavis Staples and more.

The “Boogie Cat” was born in Bonita, Louisiana, where he began singing gospel in church. At the age of 12, the Sylvester family boarded the Union Pacific train for a new life in the Pacific Northwest.

As legend has it, a twenty-something Norman attended a concert of Buddy Guy and talked his way on stage. After Norman’s performance, Guy encouraged him to devote himself to a career in music.

Besides performing regularly, Sylvester and his band teaches blues history in local schools and mentors young artists.

This free, family friendly concert begins at 5:00PM. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets, low-backed chairs and fully stocked picnic baskets.

The park is located in downtown Cannon Beach, northeast of the Chamber of Commerce at 2nd & Spruce.

The concert is produced by the Tolovana Arts Colony and made possible by a Community Grant from the City of Cannon Beach.

4th of July Parade Thank You

The parade committee would like to thank everyone who allowed us to place a collection jar in their business:

*Big Wave
*El Trio Loco
*First Security Bank
*Four Paws on the Beach
*Manzanita Fresh Foods
*Manzanita Lumber
*Manzanita Winery
*Mighty Thai
*Manzanita Mudd Dog
*Sand Dune
*Sisters and Pete’s Coffee and Treats
*Manzanita Visitor Center
*Manzanita News
*Bahama Mamas
*Offshore Grill
*Hoffman Center
*Lunacy Coffee
*Nehalem Bay Winery
*Nehalem Food Mart
*Nehalem Lumber Co.
*Mohler Coop
*Shell Station
*Handy Creek Bakery

Unfortunately, three locations reported donation jar thefts or total donations would be even higher. We hope this mean-spirited behavior does not reoccur. Unfurl opted to not have a collection jar, instead donating $100.00! In total we have raised approximately $3,000.00 to help us offset expenses for the parade, this year calculated at $2,000.00. Some of those expenses included:

*Participation ribbons
*Artist fee for creating poster
*Printing of posters
*Printing poster art on shopping bags
*Volunteer lanyards
*Buttons from poster art
*Signs for Citizen of the Year vehicles
*Registration supplies
*General printing
*Banner printing

Some things are start-up costs and will not need to be repeated next year. Any funds left over will be held for the 2024 parade. Past parades have included entertainment, and if funds permit, we would like to return to this practice.

Again, thanks to all who collected and all who contributed. We really appreciate the enthusiasm expressed by all for bringing back our parade. “Return to Glory!”
