Seeking a Zoom Assistant to work with me as I facilitate The Artist’s Way, A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity, a 12-week online course beginning Wednesday, April 13. All meetings are scheduled from 1:00-4:00 pm Pacific (dates below).
Minimal Skills you will need: + Managing “The Chat” for approximately 16 participants + Managing Zoom Break-Out Rooms (random and assigned) + Helping course participants trouble-shoot Zoom connections, screen settings, volume problems, and anything unforeseen during workshops
I will be happy to trade enrollment in the course ($456) now or in the winter when I expect to offer it again. In other words, you could attend as a Zoom assistant now and also attend, free of charge later, when you are not assisting me. If you are not interested in attending the course, I can pay you $456 for your services over 12 weeks.

Trees To Tap: How Forest Practices Affect Oregon’s Municipal Water w/ Jon Souder, OSU

On April 14th, 2022 Jon Souder, OSU’s Forest Watershed Extension Specialist will share elements of his new book Tree’s to Tap. This book summarizes the current scientific knowledge regarding the effects of forest management on drinking water. There are 337 public water providers in Oregon that rely on surface water for some, or all, of their supply. Many of these providers do not own their source watersheds and as a result have limited control over activities occurring in their source watersheds. This presentation will look at the ways in which logging, forest road building, herbicide use, and other activities related to growing and harvesting timber can impact the quality and quantity of water sourced from forested watersheds.

Jon A. Souder is the principal investigator for the Trees To Tap project. He is an assistant professor in Oregon State University’s Forest Engineering, Resources and Management (FERM) department; forest watershed specialist in the Forestry and Natural Resources Extension program; and the concluding director of the Watersheds Research Cooperative (WRC). He is the former executive director of the Coos Watershed Association in Charleston, Oregon, managing their water quality assessment, restoration and monitoring programs. He has a doctorate and master’s degree in Wildland Resources Science from the University of California, Berkeley and a bachelor’s degree in biology (limnology) from Marlboro College, Vermont.

It’s exciting to have Jon coming out to share his experience and knowledge with us.

The Lower Nehalem Watershed Council’s April Board Meeting will precede the talk at 5:00 PM. At the board meeting the LNWC will discuss regular council business and share updates on new grants being prepared and their projects around the watershed.

The talk will be on April 14th at 7 pm, hosted on Zoom, and is free to the public. The zoom link is us02web.zoom.us/j/85917101569 or on the Faceboook event at www.facebook.com/lnwc1. The Artist’s Way Course on Zoom, beginning Wednesday, April 13, 2022
Julia Cameron’s landmark book, “The Artist’s Way,” was first published in 1992. Our workshop will use her 2002 “10th Anniversary Edition” as our text.
This course is open to women only. Full enrollment will include 16 women. 13 women are already enrolled. We have spaces open for 3 additional women. Enrollment closes Monday, April 4, 2022 at 5 pm PT.
I have offered “The Artist’s Way” many times but not since 2007. I was invited to offer the course at Rising Hearts in Nehalem just as Covid hit our communities. Several women were interested at that time. Perhaps you were one of them. If you would like one of these spaces, please let me know.
I feel it’s time now to offer “The Artist’s Way” on Zoom. Zoom’s breakout rooms will allow participants to meet in small groups to process some of the exercises together. Each participant will have a partner to check in with privately on a weekly basis, to talk about their progress with “Artist’s Dates” and “Morning Pages.”
All who would like to will have the opportunity to participate in a 20-minute silent meditation session on Zoom in the 30 minutes prior to each session of The Artist’s Way — a good way to begin keeping a daily meditation practice, if you wish.
I will incorporate lots of materials that are not included in Cameron’s book, materials that reflect scientific developments that post-date publication of The Artist’s Way. I’ll do my best to update the course to be as relevant as possible to today’s world. Every participant will have opportunities to share resources they have found helpful using The Chat function on Zoom at the beginning and end of each session.
I find that this course helps me be accountable to myself as a spiritual being having a human experience — and as an artist. It asks each of us to up our game, do our best, transcend obstacles. Everything it asks of us is best done in a group — not alone. And, during Covid, when our needs have become even more apparent, the need for opportunities to congregate in solidarity is paramount.

Cool Cruiser Bicycle for Sale

PHAT cycle black bicycle with wide 3-inch tires $50. Has 2 of 3 gear/speeds working, and is otherwise functional for cruising around. Coaster brakes (you pedal backwards to engage the brake.) wide seat. Seat and hand grips might be leather and are in good condition. Heavy duty bike. Bike has wear and tear, mostly from riding in and around Nehalem Bay SP, by me and the previous owner. As far as I know this has always been a Manzanita bicycle.
I fixed a few issues with the bike which has a Shimano Nexus 3 speed hub which can be touchy. It’s probably a grain of sand preventing the 3 gear to engage. You can try your hand at overhauling/restoring it and the rest of the bike, but I’m done for this lifetime.

The Local Option Tax celebrates our right to choose. It allows us to demonstrate our continued community history of demonstrated commitment to enhance our personal and children’s quality of life by providing opportunities for growth and learning that is literally not available in many communities.

Supporting our Library with the Option Tax sets an example for our children and grandchildren of how important it is for each succeeding generation to renew their commitment to their community. This commitment provides a means for all of us to grow and prosper, not just as individuals but as an extended family who recognize and maintain their commitment to each other.

As citizens, none of us relish the prospect of paying more taxes. We don’t like the idea of turning our hard earned money over to a politician, to do with our money as they please or whomever lobbies them the most.
