Summer Lunch program for kids needs help

Submitted By: knappgj@yahoo.com – Click to email about this post
Children are out of school and the school lunch program has stopped until September. Nehalem Bay United Methodist Church in Nehalem has supplied lunches for food insecure local children for several years.
Due to State and Federal restrictions on how the food is supplied, the church is no longer receiving assistance from them. They require all food be given and eaten at a central location, without supplying transportation or supervision. This does not work for our large rural area. Money is needed to buy the lunch materials and volunteers are needed to make, pack and deliver them two days per week – Monday and Wednesday.
Volunteers can call the church at 503-368-5612 and leave a message for Bobbie.
Donations should be made out to NBUMC with “lunch” on the memo line. They can be sent to NBUMC, POB 156, Nehalem, OR 79131 or dropped off at the church at 36150 Tenth St. , Nehalem.
Kids shouldn’t have to worry about where lunch is coming from.

12 ANGRY JURORS, based on the award-winning Henry Fonda movie 12 Angry Men:
On a hot summer day after a lengthy trial, a jury must decide whether a 19-year-old man is guilty of murdering his father.
The jury votes 11-1 that the man is guilty of the crime, but the law requires a unanimous vote by all 12 jurors to pass judgment.
Tempers flare as the eleven jurors try to convince the 1 dissenter to come to their side.
However, as the evidence is re-examined, new uncertainties come to light, forcing everyone to honestly question whether there is some measure of “reasonable doubt.”

Dining room table and chairs

Solid hand constructed table of reclaimed wood veneer. Looks great. Has two leaves expanding the table to a 6-top. One of the leaves has a bowed out panel that could probably be fixed by someone with woodworking skills. There are 4 chairs but only 3 pictured. Purchased off of Etsy 3 years ago. Light use.

$150

Downtown Nehalem.

Do we as a nation want to hand over our sovereignty to an unelected organization? Assessed contributions from the 194 member states = 20% of WHO’s budget. The remaining “donations” come from wealthy nations and private companies with strings attached. Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation provide a full 10% of the WHO’s budget. …These so called Medical Passports are beyond strings, even ropes; more like chains. Do some homework neighbors.
