VOTE YES ON NOV. 7 NCRD ✔️ YES

Submitted By: babbles@nehalemtel.net – Click to email about this post
POSTED IN BEHALF OF BARBARA SCOTT-BRIER

NCRD √ YES! You’ve probably seen the bright yellow NCRD √ YES signs? And you probably know what they’re asking? In case not, let me remind you. We’re asking you to vote for the North County Recreation District (NCRD). A YES vote will enable NCRD to continue operating at its current level.

Why should we want NCRD to continue its current operations?
** Because NCRD is the hub of the North County communities.

** Because NCRD provides kids numerous experiences, including after-school care, youth sports, summer camp, arts and crafts, the school swim program, family swim, and special events for all ages.

** Because NCRD provides a fitness center for working out, and fitness classes and programs such as yoga, group strength for seniors, Tai Chi, etc.

** Because NCRD has a state-of-the-art Performing Arts Center offering musical events, live theatre, and other special events

** Because NCRD provides aquatics classes and programs for all ages, including adult aqua aerobics, aqua yoga, lap swimming, water walking, etc.

** Because NCRD sponsors special events, such as art shows, craft shows, speakers, etc.

** Because NCRD staff and teachers are part of our community and are knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful.

Final question: what can we do to help NCRD?
Answer: vote YES on November 7 for the 5-year renewable operating levy.

The levy will be used to continue to support NCRD’s daily operations, maintenance, classes, activities, and programs. The operating-levy rate on the ballot is the same rate NCRD has had for the last fifteen years. Our levy rate will NOT go up with a Yes vote, and this levy will NOT be used for the new pool which will be funded by a Capital Campaign and timber tax revenue.

Please vote “YES” for NCRD!

Fact Checking Misleading and False Information

Submitted By: hatallman@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
Greetings BBQ,
I will be fact-checking some of the posts on this forum propagating misleading and false information. Basic facts and aspects of scientific literacy (such as cause vs correlation) can and should be elucidated and evaluated. In most cases I will simply link to reputable organizations which provide clear rebuttals. Opinion and personal perspective are irrefutable.
In the following paragraphs I will examine some of the claims made in the post on October 30th by dixiegainer@gmail.com, which I have quoted below.

“A scientist was able to obtain 27 vials of Pfizer and Moderna COVID vaccines. All 27 vials contained unsafe levels of simian virus 40 (SV40), a monkey virus that can cause brain cancer, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and other fatal types of cancer. That research has been scientifically confirmed by Health Canada.”

www.poynter.org/fact-checking/2023/are-covid-19-mrna-shots-adulterated-contaminated-off-market/

“Millions of Americans were harmed by these experimental medicines. Miscarriages and stillbirths spiked because of the shots.”
www.factcheck.org/2022/08/scicheck-covid-19-vaccination-doesnt-increase-miscarriage-risk-contrary-to-naomi-wolfs-spurious-stat/

“Many thousands of young people developed serious, life-altering myocarditis.”
leadstories.com/hoax-alert/2022/05/fact-check-cdc-study-does-not-find-covid-vaccination-increases-risk-of-autoimmune-disease-myocarditis-by-13200-percent.html

“Thousands of military servicemembers who were forced to get the vaccines were sexually sterilized by them.”
www.factcheck.org/2021/06/scicheck-research-rebuts-baseless-claims-linking-covid-19-vaccines-to-male-infertility/

All of these claims were extremely easy to find and rebut, the most interesting aspect of the fact checking articles was how they illuminated how the false claim had originated and spread.

Looking to buy a home

Submitted By: marieltasche@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
Hello North Coast BBQ community!

We are a couple in our early 30s who are looking to purchase our first home. We currently live in Wheeler and have dreamt of planting permanent roots here for years. As you are probably well aware, the housing market is tough out here and we are reaching out in case anyone in the community is considering selling their home. We are pre-approved for a mortgage but are also open to short-term owner financing or rent-to-own. We are looking exclusively between Nehalem and Brighton, something close to two bedrooms, and two bathrooms. As long as the place has good bones, we are able to take on a fixer-upper. You can reach us via phone call, text, or email.

Thank you!

MEET THE CAST OF A CHRISTMAS STORY: Bentley Davis as Randy

Submitted By: admin@riverbendplayers.org – Click to email about this post

MEET THE CAST OF A CHRISTMAS STORY

Dec. 1st-17th at the NCRD Performing Arts Center
Tickets and more details at www.RiverbendPlayers.org

Bentley Davis as Ralphie’s little brother Randy:
Bentley has been aching to perform since watching his older sister, AnaBelle, act last year. His first experience on stage was in the Missoula Children’s Theater’s production of CINDERELLA this past summer.

Bentley enjoys being the designated stuntman at home and loves to dance and imagine/play with his brother. He lives in Nehalem with his siblings and his parents.

A CHRISTMAS STORY:
Humorist Jean Shepherd’s memoir of growing up in the Midwest in the late 1930s follows 9-year-old Ralphie Parker in his quest to get a genuine Red Ryder BB gun under the tree for Christmas.

Ralphie pleads his case before his mother, his teacher, and even Santa Claus himself at Higbee’s Department Store.

The consistent response: “You’ll shoot your eye out!”
All the elements from the beloved motion picture are here, including the family’s temperamental exploding furnace; Scut Farkas, the school bully; the boys’ experiment with a wet tongue on a cold lamppost; the Little Orphan Annie decoder pin; Ralphie’s father winning a lamp shaped like a woman’s leg in a net stocking; Ralphie’s fantasy scenarios and more.

A Christmas Story, a theatrical holiday treat!

Into Silence

Into Silence

Under a waning moon

in a season of descending,

conceit is cradled into silence

and the east winds carry on

with their coolness, waves

arriving over and far beyond

these coastal mountains,

a familiar, welcoming horizon,

carrying me down once more

into our root cellar of joyful

imaginings.

Ineptness at the wheel

Submitted By: bbq@nehalemtel.net – Click to email about this post
When Bill Clinton denigrated the dignity of the Presidency by seducing a young female intern in the White House, I thought this was a new low even for a politician. Then came George W. Bush, who not only lied to the American people by claiming Iraq had weapons of mass destruction, but ignored the largest visible civilian protest in world history and started a war that resulted in the deaths of tens of thousands of innocent people. He thereby became a war criminal, and in complete disrespect of our Constitution and Bill of Rights, called them “Just a piece of Paper.”
And now we have Joe Biden, who arguably lacks the mental acuity to lead our nation during these perilous times, has espoused open borders, allowing tens of thousands of illegal aliens to continue to enter our country, thereby overwhelming our social services, creating vast groups of unintegrated non-citzens and threatening our very ulture. In evidence of his lack of diplomacy and overall grasp of world affairs, Biden has announced, without any consensus-driven expression of the American citizenry, that our country supports Israel’s genocidal military policy against the people Palestinians in Gaza. Mind you, this is in direct violation of every known international resolution and international law dealing with such matters of which we are a signatory. It follows, that if we support Biden’s prouncement, we are complicit in Israel’s crimes.
By virtue of his poor judgment, Biden has caused Americans to be between a rock and a hard place. By pronouncing condemnation of both Israel and Hamas, urging a cease-fire and diplomatic solution, he would have shown some capacjty to be at the helm of our ship of state.
Israel is our proxy in the Middle East and they can’t afford to lose our support. We can use that leverage to bring them to the bargaining table and hopefully come away with a two-state solution. The other States in the Middle East and most of the world support this concept. Netanyahu, Biden and Hamas are the flies in the ointment.

If you don’t want to create an altar from scratch there will be places to add photos and momentos of your own “people” in as well.

It would be great to see the community at the Board meetings, 2nd Thursday 6pm…after 4 years of attending almost every board meeting and witnessing over and over and over again the dismissiveness of Community questions/concerns; the disinterest regarding our teens/tweens recreational interests (‘they should be grateful, we’re building them a nine million dollar pool’; the disrespect for the mobility challenged in the PAC having stage access (“I have a disability, you don’t see me asking for special favors”); the arrogance to address any of it as 73% of the voters passed it the last time…

If you can sleep at night knowing your vote perpetuates the biases, the discrimination; the ignorance by passing the levy, do it.

I’m not that person. I have cast my ballot and voted against the levy.

The NCRD will not cut any of the children’s programs.
The PAC will continue to provide plays & entertainment.

Maybe the budget will be examined?
I’d still like to know who received the $11,338.00 which shows paid for Asst Executive Director, yet we haven’t had an Asst. ED?
Does the Fitness Dept (Director; Supervisor; Attendants + Instructors) need a budget of $237,661/yr ($651/day) with usage on average of 13/day?

Just curious…. Take a look for yourself?

It’s gonna be a tough year for all

America just has to go around the globe killing people, it’s our obligation, because we are morally superior and we get to decide when the others die.
America is now run by complete sociopaths, from AOC to Lindsay Graham to Ron Wyden to Joe Biden, and we are all about to lose. Big Time. The chickens will come home to roost in Biden’s America, now 200 BILLION of OUR money to murder people overseas.
It’s always good to stock up, get your water filters ready, keep medicines well-stocked, warm clothes, etc.
From the advertisement in support of mass-murder in the Wall Street Journal below:
“The U.S. has begun moving in recent months by pumping billions of dollars into retooled factories to produce more rockets, missiles, shells and rocket motors. It has issued almost $25 billion in contracts to arm Ukraine and replenish U.S. stocks.”
Shameless mass-murder being committed by Biden’s America:
