Half Price Sale Nehalem Bay Garden Club Sunday 10-noon

Submitted By: barbaraandchuck@nehalemtel.net – Click to email about this post
Sunday, May 8th is the last day for the Nehalem Bay Garden Club plant sale from 10am to noon. Most things will be half price! (Tomatoes and Mother’s Day gifts not included)

Location of the sale is 43080 Northfork Rd, Nehalem at the junction of Hwy 53 and Northfork Rd. Look for the horse sculpture! (5 miles from the blinking light in Nehalem, straight out N Fork Rd till you come to Hwy 53. It’s on the left right before Hwy 53.)

Get your raffle tickets for a iRobot Vacuum Model 805 Roomba, complete with all the paperwork in the cardboard tray it came in. Tickets are $5 each or 6 for $20.

We even still have some TOMATOES as well as Mother’s Day gifts, perennials, veggies, herbs, annuals, succulents, ground covers, trees, shrubs and house plants.

Thanks to all who braved the weather on Saturday to come out to the sale. Your purchases have helped our community! Nehalem Bay Garden Club donates proceeds from the sale to local organizations that share the Club’s mission. Recently the focus for these grants has been on food security. Past recipients include North County Food Bank, Nehalem Bay United Methodist Church for their food programs, Food Roots, Hoffman Gardens, Alder Creek Farm, Nehalem Elementary Garden Program, and the mural at Nehalem City Park.

Club members also want to share their appreciation to the folks at the Lower Nehalem Community Trust. Since Alder Creek Farm is not having a plant sale this year, due to a gap in garden management resources, they graciously made their hoop house available for the Club’s use. It is currently stocked with the tomatoes growing big and lush in the heat and light of the hoop house.

Solid Wood Bed Frame Queen IKEA $100

Submitted By: mica.f.russo@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
I’m selling a like-new bed frame fit for a queen-size mattress. It’s made by IKEA (the TARVA model) and features *real* pine wood and a support beam made of galvanized steel. In addition, it comes with a slatted-wood bed base for mattress support (the LURÖY model). The TARVA queen bed frame is out of stock at the IKEA store in Portland.

TARVA Bed Frame: www.ikea.com/us/en/p/tarva-bed-frame-pine-s29930097/

LURÖY Slatted Bed Base: www.ikea.com/us/en/p/luroey-slatted-bed-base-00160215/

I purchased this set last year and it’s served me well. The color is beautiful and has a simple craftsman vibe. I’m only selling it because I’ve moved to a smaller space and am downsizing. My loss is your gain!

Overall, the frame and slatted base are in great condition. There are small scratches on the legs at the foot of the bed frame from my cat (see photo attached), which are only aesthetic in nature. The solid pine frame has natural variations in grain, color and texture. It’s untreated, but you could oil, wax, lacquer or stain the pine surface.

The frame is currently in four pieces and will require some light assembly. The instructions are provided below: www.ikea.com/us/en/assembly_instructions/tarva-bed-frame-pine__AA-1921249-2-2.pdf

Bed Frame Dimensions
Length: 82 1/4″
Width: 63″
Footboard height: 12 5/8″
Headboard height: 36 1/4″
Mattress length: 79 1/2″
Mattress width: 59 7/8″

2007 Honda fit sport with 81700 miles. I bought the car 4 years ago with 50000 to commute to portland every other weekend to pickup my daughter.
I just had struts replaced at evergreen auto. It currently has winter tires and wheels on, but includes the stock wheels and summer tires (have them in my garage). The car has been garaged since I have owned. Interior of car is clean – no rips or stains in upholstery. There are some scratches and chips in paint. Passenger side windshield is cracked. The car gets good gas mileage, is fun to drive, and has great cargo space for its size.
I am asking 5700. if interested, want more info or pics, contact Timothy @

There is a small dent in tailgate. Just bought new all terrain tires less than 1000 miles ago. This truck has been a great backup vehicle for me but I am moving towards a full size truck.

Nehalem Bay Garden Club Plant Sale starts tomorrow

Submitted By: barbaraandchuck@nehalemtel.net – Click to email about this post
Nehalem Bay Garden Club Plant Sale starts tomorrow! The sale is Saturday, May 7th from 9-4 and Sunday, May 8th from 10 to noon, rain or shine. Location of the sale is 43080 Northfork Rd, Nehalem at the junction of Hwy 53 and Northfork Rd. Look for the horse sculpture!

There are some new additions to the annual plant sale.

A raffle for a iRobot Vacuum Model 805 Roomba, complete with all the paperwork in the cardboard tray it came in. Tickets are $5 each or 6 for $20.

River City Flower Farm will be selling their dried flower arrangements and wreaths as well as dahlia bulbs. Please note that they will only be there on Saturday.

There will be gifts for Mom, including garden themed cards handmade by Garden Club members.

And don’t forget we have TOMATOES! About 600 gallon pots of at least 19 varieties of tomatoes will be available including heirloom, cherry, grape, roma and beefsteak types among others. These varieties were specifically chosen by experienced members because they are proven performers in our coastal climate.

Besides tomatoes, club members have started other vegetables from seed so gardener’s plant selections will be available from a local source. Also on offering will be the club’s usual annuals, perennials, natives, herbs, succulents, shrubs, and trees.

Club members want to share their appreciation to the folks at the Lower Nehalem Community Trust. Since Alder Creek Farm is not having a plant sale this year, due to a gap in garden management resources, they graciously made their hoop house available for the Club’s use. It is currently stocked with the tomatoes growing big and lush in the heat and light of the hoop house.

Ceramic TEAPOT Class

Submitted By: hoffmancenterclass@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
Ceramic Teapot Workshop – Monday, May 9th

Whether you are an experienced wheel thrower or hand-builder, you will enjoy this opportunity to learn the art of teapot making from Barbara Temple Ayres and Kathleen Kanas. Along with degrees in art and education, this duo has more than 25 years combined experience in ceramics and teaching and share a genuine passion for all things clay.

The teapot class is a full-day workshop starting with the construction and decoration of the vessel. While the vessel is drying, attention will be turned to spouts, handles and lids. A long lunch break gives time for the clay to dry so that the components may be joined in the afternoon session.

The cost of the class is $95 plus a $10 materials fee. You may bring your own ceramics tools or use the ones in the clay studio at no charge.

The class is limited to 10 attendees and will be held in the Hoffman Clay studio starting at 9 a.m. and ending at 5 p.m. on Monday, May 9, 2022.

Proof of vaccination is required; masks are optional but always a good idea when working in a clay studio.
