Worship at NBUMC. July 24

Submitted By: Jennie1550@yahoo.com – Click to email about this post
This Sunday will be a service of music, scripture, and prayer. Fittingly, our pianist Jennie Meyers will be taking the lead. You are in for a treat. She has planned some of your favorite hymns such as “In The Garden” and “Standing on Holy Ground.”

The service will continue to be a mix of both in-church and live streamed home worship. Masks are still requested in the Sanctuary as a courtesy to others.

Click on the link below for picture and sound if you have internet access, or otherwise for sound only you can simply call in on your phone to either of the phone numbers shown, then enter the meeting ID. If also prompted for a caller ID, just enter #.

Lost Eyeglasses

Submitted By: accidentalpress@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
I lost my BRAND NEW prescription eyeglasses. Have not seen them since I was at Manzanita Park around 10:15-11:30 am Wednesday July 20th

They were in the case (I think), a bigger plastic Lacoste hard clamshell case. Gold rimmed metal frames. Lord it was nice to see so well for a couple of days— please let me know if you have any leads!

Thank you

Mystery Operetta at NCRD

Submitted By: Kileyk@ncrdnehalem.org – Click to email about this post
Due to licensing constraints we cannot print the title or composers. BUT… we are allowed to tell you that it was written in the 19th century by a very famous writer and composer. The comic operetta is set in Japan and involves star-crossed lovers, the Lord High Executioner and Three Little Maids From School.
We hope that you will join us for a free DVD performance by a famous Canadian theatre group at the Performing Arts Center at NCRD on Sunday July 24 at 2:00 pm.

Openings for Two Female Writers on Wednesday Mornings

Two Openings for Writers at Any Level of Experience

Let your voice soar on the currents of the summer wind! Join us for a brand new Wednesday Morning Writing Alive! Workshop, a place to play with the authenticity of your voice in the presence of others who love words and meaning, form and structure as much as you do! Find your flock — and fly!

Writing Alive! Workshops have been offered on the North Coast of Oregon since April 2015. Our days of meeting at The Center for Contemplative Arts came to end, and now we meet on Zoom.

I am trained to facilitate writing workshops in the style of The Amherst Method for Writers and Artists, an approach I love for its positive focus and for the extra distance it provides writers who want to delve into challenging, authentic material without getting mired in a “therapy trap.” We write to 2-4 prompts during each 2-1/2 hour weekly workshop. We include a maximum of 5 writers plus the facilitator. In this model, the facilitator keeps the process on track while also writing to the prompts and sharing her own writing, just as other participants do, keeping the hierarchy “flat” and equal. Writers choose their genre, decide whether to write “on-prompt” or “off-prompt,” always have a standing invitation to read aloud and always an option to pass. This is a setting for writers bringing works-in-progress and also for those jumping in to begin, or complete, a memoir, group of short stories or to explore writing with a workshop for the very first time.

If you are longing for a writing community filled with writers capable of offering thoughtful feedback, if you are ready to receive positive feedback for your work, if you are in search of a group of like-minded writers to hold you accountable to yourself and bring out your best, Writing Alive! Workshops is for you!

We’re just around the corner — on Zoom. (And if your niece in Olympia or your daughter in Chicago or your Mom or Grammy on Martha’s Vineyard is looking for us, please let them know how to find us! Send them this contact and we’ll take care of the rest: writingaliveworkshops@gmail.com.)

We are seeking one or two new writers for a brand new Wednesday Morning Workshop. Three writers are signed up — from Oregon, from Nova Scotia, from Washington, D.C. This workshop will definitely “make.” Let us know if you’d like to join us.

Our dates are July 27 + Aug 3, 10, 17. This particular workshop is focused for women only.

Sweeney Gray from Lincoln City is the pianist. Tickets are $20 in advance by reservation at baycityartscenter@gmail.com or visiting one of the listed sponsors, or $25 at the door. Seeking donations for a worthy cause

Submitted By: nbwines@hotmail.com – Click to email about this post
After a two year hiatus we are happy to announce the return of our “Day of the Dog” event at Nehalem Bay Winery on Saturday August 6th. The event is a fundraiser created in 2018 to benefit our local animal rescue organizations. We had a great 2 year run raising much needed funds for emergency surgeries, spay and neuter clinics etc all handled at Nehalem Animal Healing. We are actively seeking donations for the silent auction and raffle to be held at the event. Nothing is too big or too small. Gift certificates, goods and services from our generous community will be gratefully accepted as soon as possible. The event is free, family and dog friendly. There will food and beverages for purchase. The highlight will be the musical performances by Dr. Matt Didlake and friends. Please contact Melissa at 503-368-9463 or nbwines@hotmail.com with donations or questions. Donations can be dropped off at Nehalem Bay Winery between 10AM-5PM daily. Contact if we need to arrange picking up your donation. We hope to see you at our event Saturday August 6th starting at 2 PM. Nehalem Bay Winery 34965 Highway 53 Nehalem OR 97131. 503-368-WINE (9463). Many thanks!!!

Lady Friends

Submitted By: Sonya.agnello@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
I moved to the area a year ago and have not spent much time outside of work or nature, and with that, I haven’t made many friends!

Tuesdays and Wednesdays are my current days off, soon to be Wednesdays and Thursdays. I’m looking for like minded people to spend some time with!

Doing what you may ask?
Hiking, kayaking, vision board making, eating yummy food, coffee shop visits…

You don’t need to like all of it, just looking to do some things with another human!

I don’t drink or smoke weed, but I promise I am tons of fun! I’ve got two small dogs that accompany me most everywhere, so not being a dog hater is a must!

If you’re a lady looking for friends too, let me know!
