Don’t miss the library’s Rare and Old Book Sale Fundraiser this Memorial Day weekend – Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, May 27th through May 29th, from 12 to 4 p.m. Sale will be held at the Cannon Beach Library, 131 N Hemlock St, downtown Cannon Beach, Oregon.

Sale includes rare, old, signed, and collectible adult and children’s books that have been pulled from incoming donations and then evaluated by an expert for value and condition. Choose from a fine selection of collectible titles across a wide range of prices. Perfect for collectors, booksellers, hobbyists, resellers, and anyone looking for an interesting find or a special gift. Priced to sell! We’ll also be running a bonus sale – buy any 3 books and get the 4th book FREE (of equal or lesser value).

The 4th Friday Latin Dance Social is this Friday, May 26th at NCRD’s gym from 6 to 8pm. This Friday’s genre is Cha-Cha with Marie & Wayne.

The gathering starts with a lesson from 6 – 6:30 then follows with social dancing. No partner or experience necessary. This is your opportunity to practice with other dancers and learn new moves. You are welcome to bring suggestions for additional dance styles and songs you’d like to hear.

Bring your bottle water and a snack if you may. No need to pre-register, just show up at the door. $5 cover (Liability waiver required)

ORCHESTRA PRESENTS JUNE CONCERTS

The North Oregon Coast Symphony completes its 2022-2023 season with two classical music concerts in June. This non-profit ensemble, under the direction of conductor Cory Pederson, brings together musicians from the north Oregon and south Washington coast. In addition to selections from Bizet’s L’Arlesienne Suites (Nos. 1 and 2) and an original composition by orchestra member James Achilles, the concerts will feature several NOCS musicians as soloists.  Accompanied by the orchestra, Laurie Swanson, oboe, will play a haunting piece entitled The Winter’s Passed; Achilles will sing the famous “Figaro” aria from  Rossini’s Barber of Seville; and Jewell High School student Brayden Payne will be featured in Mozart’s clarinet concerto.

The orchestra will perform the concerts on Saturday, June 10, at St. Catherine Episcopal Church (36335 N. Hwy. 101, Nehalem, OR) beginning at 7 pm, and Sunday, June 11, at the Bob Chisholm Community Center (1225 Avenue A, Seaside, OR) beginning at 3 pm.

Admission for the concerts will be $10 adults, $5 students, and children 12 and under (accompanied by an adult) free. Tickets will be sold at the door for both concerts (cash or personal check only.)

It’s that time of year where we replace our luxury bed linens and towels.
Queen sheets & standard pillowcases, bath towels, hand towels and washcloths are just a few of those items to be sold. There are also bathmats, rugs, duvet insets, duvet covers, mattress pads, and bed skirts. (Some of these items are slightly damaged or have small stains.)

As always there are more than linens and towels. Pictures, kitchen chairs, an office chair and miscellaneous kitchen gadgets will be available as well other small items.

If any of these items are of interest to you, be sure to head over as the towels and linens go very fast! (No phone calls please.)

All donation proceeds will be donated to the “Tides of Change” organization in Tillamook, formerly the Women’s Resource Center.
Vendors will donate $1 from each entrée sale to them. That donation will matched by property owner 100%.
One free raffle ticket will also be given for each entrée purchase for the prize drawing.
We will also be selling raffle tickets for prizes donated by the property owner and all proceeds from the raffle will be donated to “Tides of Change” as well.
Tickets will be 6 for $5 or $1 each.
Sugar Plus Air Cotton will be on the pod Saturday with a portion of their proceeds going to the “Tides of Change” organization as well.
All winners will be notified by phone the following week.
