The first step in breast cancer prevention is awareness, the next steps are lifestyle habits. This month, I’ll be holding two Breast Health classes on Friday October 13th. One daytime and one in the evening. I’ll also be hosting some free group nature walks to discuss general self-care habits. Both the classes and hike events will address prevention as well as empower against recurrence.
I’m a health coach with much personal experience in this arena and a bodyworker for 25+ years.
These empowering classes include:
*Info session to understand your risk level and what you can do based on it
*Learn self-care massage, acupressure, reflexology, aromatherapy plus enjoyable qigong and dance movement
*10ml roller bottle with plant oils for breast health
*Info on thermography scanning and how to use for screening
*Learn foods to increase and decrease and when to use intermittent fasting for cancer prevention and general breast health
*Enjoy healing delicious tea and snacks
*** Steam sauna and kelp clay mask or near-infrared light experience and clay mask to take home
***Steam sauna is the daytime class at NorthFork53 Communitea Wellness. Near-infrared experience is the evening class at Pauseful Massage & Botanical in Manzanita.

It’s mushroom season! The rain has brought up all kinds of treasure in the forests.
You may know the kinds mushrooms you forage for food- but have you explored the wild world of fungi dyes?
During this workshop, you’ll learn about the different types of fungi found on the coast, how to identify them, and which ones are best for dyeing.
You’ll also get hands-on experience with the dyeing process, using locally sourced fungi to create beautiful and unique color on silk and wool.
Participants will dye two silk bandanas using shibori methods, as well as a small skein of wool yarn.

Erica Clark is a fiber artist and fisher poet living in Astoria. Erica has practiced experiential environmental education for 15 years, sharing her love of fungi and forest floor ecology with folks from 4 to 84 years old.
Take this opportunity to be trained and certified as a CERT. The skills you’ll learn help not only yourself and your family during a disaster, but your community.

~No outside shoes on the dance floor if possible (dirty floors aren’t fun to roll around on)
~Please no strong scents.
~We ask that you limit talking during the dance set. Set up, break time, and the foyer area are great places to have longer conversations to limit distractions for others.
~We are encouraging everyone to be mindful of each other’s safety and health and stay home if you are not feeling well, or have been exposed to someone sick. Follow your own judgment on whether to wear a mask or not.
