Nehalem Bay State Park to be CLOSED for Construction

Submitted By: ben.cox@oregon.gov – Click to email about this post
The Nehalem Bay State Park campground, Horizon Lane park entrance, and day use areas west of the main park entry road will be temporarily closed for construction from Nov. 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025 to install new water lines, electricity, entry road improvements, restrooms and shower buildings.

The day use area including the main Garey Street entrance, will be closed Dec. 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025. The day use area closure will be delayed one month to allow use of the boat
ramp and the trails on the east side of the main entry road. Water and electricity may be intermittent in the day use areas in November as construction gets underway.

The beach will remain open for walk-in use from outside of the park.

The closure timeline is subject to change based on the dynamic nature of this complex project. Thank you for your understanding and patience as we work to improve the park.

United Paws’ Cats of the Week

Submitted By: Coastbbqfree@protonmail.com – Click to email about this post
Are you looking for an adult cat companion? Meet Olive and Isis. These young cats have fantastic personalities! Olive (tabby) is the classic entertaining, cartoonish cat to have around the house – she wrestles her mirror image, loves to lounge and gaze out the window, and tells you about her day with her very sweet vocalizations. Isis (sable brown) is the lover of the two – she wants to snuggle next to you for pets, lounge in her favorite chair, and follow you around the house. They enjoy playing with toys, both independently and with a human. Olive performs incredible gymnastics when chasing the feathers on a wire, while Isis makes lightening-fast moves to secure the prey.
Olive and Isis were rescued from a crowded trailer, each with a new litter of kittens. After weaning their kittens, these young moms went to a loving foster home.
Both cats are neutered, vaccinated, and healthy, ready for their forever family. Contact United Paws through our web site, www.unitedpaws.wordpress.com or call 503-842-5663.

Sunday Meditation returns to NCRD

Submitted By: kileyk@ncrdnehalem.org – Click to email about this post
For almost three decades a Sunday morning meditation group met in the Riverview Room—until COVID hit and then, like so many things, the Sunday group went on pause.

This long-standing group is now returning—with a few changes…
The group will now meet once per month on the last Sunday of the Month.

The meeting time will be 9:30 – 10:00 am.
the format will be the same:
• the bell rings at 9:30
• sit in silence for 30 minutes
• the bell rings at 10:00 to conclude the sit

No registration required, no enrollment necessary.
Everyone welcome by small donation.

There is no teaching associated with this structure, and people are free to leave right after the conclusion of the session. Conversations have been known to start up after the sit and some continue outside the building once the room has been cleared.

Participants will continue to have access to the yoga props for sitting and there are also a few of Bob Brook’s custom-designed benches available.

The dates for the next five sits are:
August 25
September 29
October 27
November 24
December 29
