About the new Health Center and Pharmacy:
• The new Nehalem Bay Health Center and Pharmacy is a project of the Nehalem Bay
Health District, an Oregon special district that has existed since the early 1950’s. The District also owns the Nehalem Valley Care Center, the old Wheeler hospital and the current clinic building on Rowe Street in Wheeler.
• The decision to develop a new Health Center was driven by space limitations in the current clinic, as well as limits on the number of patients who can be served and
services that can be provided.
• The new Health Center will have 15 exam and procedure rooms, a major upgrade from the existing facility, allowing space to accommodate specialty
services, including x-ray and dental.

I created this video, which I hope to god you can access, to explain what I do:

To build anything, we need to understand our materials and methods, right? In writing, we can either rely on our “ear” to tell us what sounds good, or we can develop a clear knowledge of good style.
For 5 years I directed the English Department Writing Center at the University of Washington, where I taught writing pedagogy and literature. I’ve used that experience to build my one-to-one syllabus.
Shoot me an email and we’ll go from there!

I’m looking for one more vacation rental management gig. If you are ready to pass that piece along to a local mama, or know anyone else that is, feel free to pass my info along or send them my way! Your help is super appreciated.
I’ve been managing for 4 years after running a cleaning co-op for 4 years, so 8 years experience in vacation rentals now 😉
This is going to help get me through massage school and I will be able to continue to manage while massaging as well.

Taught by the experienced Shelley Behrman, Winter Yoga & Soothing Sound takes place every Tuesday and Thursday at 5:30pm. Through gentle yoga practices, Shelley’s class helps release the stress of the day from your body and mind. The class combines movement, stretching, breath work, meditation and sound baths to unwind and relax. This is an all levels class with the option to be fully supported with a chair. Please bring a yoga mat and any other props you may need to be comfortable.
On Mondays (at 5:30pm) and Fridays (at 6:30pm), Scott Johnson’s Qigong Class offers a different kind of centering. “Qigong is both calming and vitalizing,” Scott says. “Your stress transforms into vitality.” Modeled on teachings of Taoist Master Manak Chia, Qigong uses calming practices—such as breathing and simple movements—to build strength and energy. Scott assures potential students that the class is accessible for all ages and fitness levels and includes “no acrobatics.” He adds that Qigong boosts health, including heart and kidney function. Chair options are also available. He asks you bring a yoga mat and clean socks. No experience is necessary, and if you feel like checking out Qigong for the first time, the first class is free. Qigong kicks off its first class this Friday, January 31st.
Each class is $15 per session. Financial support/sponsorship is available—just ask.

In addition to coaching, I also offer:
Workshops & Trainings for businesses and organizations, focused on building morale and reducing stress in the workplace.

Hospital Road in Wheeler will be closed from 7 am to 5 pm on Tuesday, January 28 through Thursday January 30. Hospital Road will be open during evening hours.
The closure is necessary to facilitate placement of buried utility lines along Hospital Road related to construction of the new Nehalem Bay Health Center and Pharmacy.
Access will be available via Hall Street and, if cold weather requires, Hall Street will be sanded to facilitate motorists.
Thank you for your understanding and patience as construction progress continues on the new Health Center and Pharmacy.

The State of Acceptance
“Your soul spontaneously relaxes as it senses the arising of acceptance.
There is release and letting go throughout the body as the experience of inner rejection drops away. Each cell seems to open and breathe with the space to simply be itself.
Your soul feels bathed in a delicate, refreshing liquid that nourishes and welcomes you into a sense of profound relaxation. You feel relieved of an ancient burden of struggle and feel it replaced with an unquestioned sense of belonging.
You belong here and now, exactly where you are, as a part of everything that is. At the same time, you feel fully accepting of what is here; you welcome it without preference or condition.”
– From Soul Without Shame by Byron Brown
No experience is necessary. All are welcome.

Last summer, Oregon Shores filed an appeal of the Rockaway Beach Planning Commission’s approval of a 30 unit-housing development in sensitive wetlands with the Rockaway Beach City Council. After a hearing on the matter where Oregon Shores and a large number of community members turned out to express their concerns with the project, the City Council denied Oregon Shores’ Appeal. Now, Oregon Shores has filed an appeal of that decision with the Oregon Land Use Board of Appeals.
The development, which the developer expects will primarily serve as short-term rentals, poses serious harm to the local environment and public safety. Neighbors and community members are concerned that the development would destroy wildlife habitat, increase flooding and drinking water pollution risks, and make the area less safe in a tsunami.
Before the City Council, Oregon Shores argued that the development would violate state land use laws and Rockaway Beach’s own zoning ordinances. Despite getting approval to develop the land in 2008 and completing the first 8 lots, construction of phase two of the project never began. Now, 16 years later, the developer has added 2 more houses to the plan and wants to get started without seeking re-approval of the development plan under current standards. Rockaway Beach’s zoning ordinances also prohibit residential construction in the special wetland zone in which the development site is located, and require mitigation for development that abuts McMillan Creek, which runs through the property.
Oregon Shores is represented in its appeal by Crag Law Center, a non-profit environmental law center serving Pacific Northwest communities. The Land Use Board of Appeals will likely issue a decision on the appeal in several months.
