Update on Appeal of Nedonna Wave Planned Unit Development

Submitted By: lyndsey.nccwp@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
Update on the Appeal of the Nedonna Wave Planned Unit Development:
As most of you know, the RB City Council voted unanimously in December to deny the Appeal of the Nedonna Wave PUD. Thankfully, Oregon Shores Conservation Coalition has filed an appeal with the Land Use Board of Appeals (LUBA). Oregon Shores is getting legal help from the Crag Law Center.
We hope this action will help prevent further development in the area for several important reasons: First, this land is a wetland that deserves protection; second, the development would be built on top of an aquifer, which serves as Rockaway Beach’s backup water source, and could pose a risk of contamination; finally, Nedonna Beach has only one road (egress) which is already insufficient in case of emergencies such as a medical emergency, floods, fires, storms, ocean surges and tsunami. There are already 360 homes in this area, adding more would exacerbate this safety concern.
Pictured is a map of the proposed PUD with a circle around lots 17, 18 and 19. Also included are some photos of what these lots look like right now. For reference, the blue line represents Song St, and the Green line is Kittiwick St.
Crag Law Center is doing this legal work pro bono, and would be grateful for any donations.

North Coast Locals: Install an EV Charger at your Home or Vacation Rental

Submitted By: lydia@ecobadlandz.com – Click to email about this post
Hey neighbors!

We’re Ranger EV, a small, Portland-based startup with roots right here on the Oregon Coast in Manzanita. Some of us live in Portland and one of our team members, Lydia, is lucky to call this beautiful coastline home! We’ve teamed up with local Manzanita business, Sunset to Sunset, to bring something exciting to the Oregon Coast: Ranger Stations!

What’s a Ranger Station?
A Ranger Station is more than just an EV charger—it’s a way to make your home or vacation rental a haven for electric vehicle travelers while helping reduce carbon emissions. Whether it’s in your personal driveway or for your guests at your vacation rental, a Ranger Station lets people charge while they sleep—no more detouring to fast chargers in Tillamook or Warrenton.

Why Ranger EV?
We’re engineers, surfers, writers, outdoor enthusiasts, software developers, scientists, and environmentalists who share a deep love for the PNW. We understand the magic of the Oregon Coast and we want to protect it and make it more accessible for electric vehicles.

By hosting a Ranger Station, you’re joining a mission to:
– Ease EV travelers’ “charging anxiety”
– Welcome more visitors to your home or rental
– Offset energy costs with easy shared payment options
– Be part of a growing community helping to make EV travel more sustainable

We’re already working locally and would love for you to join us. If you’re a homeowner or own a vacation rental and want to add an EV charger, let’s chat!

Check out the links below to learn more:

If you have any questions, feel free to respond to this email address or reach out through our website, www.rangerev.co/contact-us/

Cheers,
The Ranger EV Team

Real Vermont maple syrup – OG/dark-robust grade from northern reaches of state near the Canadian border – quarts $28 and full gallons $89. TWO raw honey quart selections to choose from – Oso blackberry collected in the Blodgett area of the coast range ($29 each) – or Marcola Wildflower from the far side of Willamette Valley ($28 each). Orders need to be placed in advance – cash or your good check preferred (other options exist) – and remember – this is a DELIVERY trip (Jeff delivers to your doorstep) – not a “pop-up” or a “meet-up” – contact Jeff via text to his cell: 208-424-0042 – or e-mail: jwmerc@gmail.com – or send and instant message thru the JW Merc Facebook page – thanks – Happy New Year – and we’ll see you on TUESDAY!!! Donate Responsibly or What Not To Do

This message is from Heart of CARTM, however it applies to any of our thrifty store friends who are working extra hard this time of year to rehome items you no longer want.
Here are some ways you can be a good donor:
- DO NOT leave items anywhere around the premises without speaking to staff first.
- DO NOT leave items outside when the store is closed.
- DO NOT assume that your donations will be accepted. Speak to a staff person.
+ DO understand that we are passionately dedicated to
reusing, repairing and reimagining things, but YOU are ultimately responsible for the proper disposal of your things. Sometimes the best option is the trash.

Heart of CARTM is closed through January 29th. We are using this time to rest and to make Heart of CARTM an even better place to shop for preloved treasures.
If you want to support us during this time, you can make a monetary donation or reach out to me about volunteering (jessi@heartofcartm.org), but please do not leave items outside our door. Give us a call, so we can help you find the best new home for your things 971-389-8414.

Thank you for supporting your community’s hard working reuse staff. We will see you at Noon on Reopening Day Thursday, Jan 30th!

Recommending Big Shaun’s Smash Burgers at Mohler Market. Wow – delicious! I love the Spicy Burger. Yum. The french fries are tasty too. And they always seem to be enjoying themselves – service with a smile!
Restaurants have come and gone from Mohler Market over the years but this one is worth the trip; I hope Big Shaun’s is able to stay for the long haul. And you can go grab some groceries while your burger is cooking. I recommend stopping in and giving it a try! I think you’ll look forward to your next trip to Mohler Market like I do!
