Wanted labeled plants you have outgrown or have outgrown you

Submitted By: barbaraandchuck@nehalemtel.net – Click to email about this post
Are you starting to dig in your garden?
Do you have plants you have outgrown?
Do you have plants that have outgrown their space?

The Nehalem Bay Garden Club can use them for our annual plant sale on May 7th. (And you can get new plants here for that space you have made at prices below commercial nurseries!)

If you do and you are able to dig and transport them, please label them and bring them on Saturday, March 12 till 1:00pm to 43080 N Fork Rd (where N Fork Rd meets Hwy 53 and the site of our May sale.) There will be a tarp in the yard where you can put them. We will pot them up so you can bring them in plastic bags or other temporary shelter. You can also bring any pots you no longer want.

If you are not able to dig and/or transplant, please send an email to barbaraandchuck@nehalemtel.net and we will figure out how to get your babies to give them a new home.

Thank you!!

Proceeds from the Garden Club sale are given back to the community. In past years we have supported Alder Creek Farm, Hoffman Gardens, Food Roots, North County Food Bank, Nehalem Grade School garden, and Nehalem Bay United Methodist Church food pantry among others.

The Nehalem Bay Garden Club normally meets on the 4th Tuesday at 1:30 and we hope to start meeting again in person soon. Our main event is the annual plant and we have fun learning, getting our hands dirty, going on field trips (Covid permitting) and sharing stories, knowledge and food together all throughout the year. If you would like to join us please send an email to barbaraandchuck@nehalemtel.net

Maria Muldaur and Her Red Hot Bluesiana Band

Submitted By: qulwater@msn.com – Click to email about this post
If you want to attend this performance by a great performer do not wait to purchase tickets as our community has this show nearly sold out. Ms. Muldaur is on fire with this band and is excited to visit our community. Grab one of the few remaining seats. Go to tickettomato.com to purchase tickets.

No lover of American roots music should miss the first ever North Coast performance by Maria Muldaur! Soulful and sassy, Maria Muldaur will light up the NCRD Performing Arts Center with New Orleans blues, gospel, and swamp funk, backed with grit and reckless abandon by her Red Hot Bluesiana Band.
Unparalleled interpreter of Americana music before the genre was invented, Maria’s musical style has evolved over four decades from her off-the-charts pop hit, “Midnight at the Oasis” to her explorations of New Orleans jazz, Western swing, gospel, country blues, and more. Maria has brought back into the spotlight some of America’s finest roots music around.
The recipient of six Grammy nominations and numerous other awards, Maria’s live performances are brimming with rock-the-roof tops energy. Part infectious fun and part down-home revival, they are a deeply satisfying antidote to contemporary mass media culture. Maria and her band are coming to NCRD April 9th at 7:00pm. Get your tickets in advance, because this show is sure to sell out! Tickets are $25 in advance and $28 at the door, you can purchase them online at tickettomato.com.
Doors open at 6:30. Show starts at 7pm with opening act The Beefheart Boys featuring Johnnie Ward and Bill Uhlig.
There will be a beer/wine social upstairs starting at 6pm
This is an all ages show.

White Clover Grange Celebrates Spring with “A Garden Affaire” Event March 26th

The White Clover Grange invites the community to A Garden Affaire on Saturday March 26 from 10 am to 3 pm. This traditional springtime event, a kick off to the 2022 gardening season, features local vendors selling vegetables, plant starts, flowers, microgreens, native plants and baked goods. The Sharpenater will be on hand to spruce up your tools.
At noon, Hope Stanton of Aldervale Native Plants will give a talk and answer questions, and at 1 pm Teresa Retzlaff of 46 North Farm in Olney will share her experiences with “dry land” farming and gardening. (Suggested donation for Teresa’s talk is $10). The Nehalem Garden Club will host a seed exchange featuring some free packaged seeds as well as seeds collected by local gardeners. Community members with seeds to share are encouraged to bring them and trade.
And, the White Clover Grange is proud to announce the relocation of the Shelly Bowe Memorial “HomeGrown” farm stand, previously located in the parking lot of Kendras River Inn. Opening for it’s third season, we expect to be open for this event, stocked up with early garden needs.

Join in this spring celebration by bringing canned goods to donate to our local food pantries.
The Grange is located at 36585 Highway 53, about 2 miles north of the Mohler Coop.
For more information, please check the Grange website: www.whiteclovergrange.org or our Facebook page.
