Saturday Night Special: A Benefit for NKN Speech and Debate

Submitted By: jgreenleaf@mac.com – Click to email about this post
It’s Spring, and that means it’s time for the annual Saturday Night Special Variety Show. After a two years off due to Covid, we’re excited to announce a live show this year to benefit the Neah-Kah-Nie High School Speech and Debate team. Join us at the NCRD Performing Arts Center on Saturday, April 30, for this beloved community event.

The Speech and Debate team has improved each year for the past three years, culminating in their 4th place finish for all Oregon schools in classes 4A – 1A at last weekend’s State Speech and Debate Championships. All proceeds from this year’s Variety Show will be donated to the team to help fund travel to tournaments for the 2022-2023 season.

The show features a mix of high school performers, professionals, and talented local amateurs performing song, dance, storytelling, and comedy. Students from the speech and debate team will present two of their award-winning pieces as well as perform songs from musicals. Additional acts include professional singers, local musicians, The Illusions Dance Troupe, and a few surprises. Everyone is welcome at this all-ages show.

All proceeds from the event will go to the Neah-Kah-Nie High School Speech and Debate Team.

Saturday Night Special Variety Show
Saturday, April 30, 7 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
NCRD Performing Arts Center, 36155 9th Street, Nehalem
Tickets $10; children 12 and under admitted free

Hi everyone
This is Molly
She’s my neighbor/tenants doggie (as you can see a lover of all)
Molly has a little boy that’s in Kindergarten
Molly caught some weird disease and can no longer use her back legs
This little family cannot afford back wheels(legs) for their sweet little pup.
If you are handy and can create something (or ya actually have this contraption that you’d like to give away)
Please contact Jessica at (503) 875-0240
I’d love to see that doggie and boy running in the yard again
Thanks for listening

Report crimes

Have you seen the article on crime in North County

We must report sketchy things/people.
Maybe a group that writes to our Elected Officials in Salem to tell them open up our jails.
We must find ways to rid our communities of this nasty crime spree.
Together we are many

Well folks,

The day is fast approaching when we will make a major choice on the future of Tillamook County.

find it interesting how much attention is on promoting the Library Operating Levy, a a measure with a great chance of passing.

While very little attention falls on the falsely titled Second Amendment Sanctuary Ordinance, a measure that would change the social climate of the entire county.

Why?

This measure is dangerous and it must fail at the polls. The people of Tillamook County need to send a clear message to those that think violence and weapons are the answer to a just society.

Ballots drop on the 27th.

Keep Extremism Out of Tillamook County.

Vote EARLY and help others to do so as well. There are lots of articles, podcasts, and talking points on the web site:

This is not about protecting the Second Amendment, it’s about protecting The Rule of Law and Keeping This Community Safe.

Car Needed

Submitted By: acwolf05@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
Hi,

My car got stolen from the Hilton Garden Inn parking lot near the airport in Portland. I am returning to the coast carless. I was on a trip helping my Mom out. She has been in the hospital.

So I currently don’t have a car, a way to get to work or get Ronan to school. I am in the process of getting another one.

If you have a car that I could borrow in the mean time, that would be so helpful. Please let me know. I am responsible, have insurance, and can provide references.

Thank you

Please vote to renew Library funding!

Submitted By: peatea0@yahoo.com – Click to email about this post
To my neighbors in the Three Villages area:

I would like to join others on this site who have encouraged you to vote YES on Measure 29-164, the Library Levy Renewal in May 2022.

In inflationary times, this 5-year levy is an amazing bargain. The cost if renewed is 65¢ per $1000 assessed value of a home, the same as it’s been since 2017! Our wide-ranging Library system costs only $110 per year for homes assessed at $170,000, which is $9.25 a month—less than most of us spend on beer and wine in a weekend.

Personally, I rely on branch libraries in Tillamook County for email and internet. All branches beam a wifi signal into their parking lots so anyone can connect day or night, for free. When I moved here, a friend told me about this, so I drove with a laptop to the Library one rainy night. I had to laugh—there we all were in our pickup trucks and SUVs, blue light shining on our faces as we sat behind the wheel accessing the wider world.

I have no internet at home, so I need Library computers for weather and news, ordering online, filling out forms. I also get DVDs and audio books from the Library. I have recommended movies and TV shows to friends who can’t find them on Netflix or Hulu. Then they use a Library card—it’s free!

Working at Library computers, I run into friends and overhear local news. Librarians help enthusiastic kids and sophisticated adults. Since Manzanita lost its “business center” at Salt and Paper gift shop, we have been able to manage because Tillamook County purchased modern printer-copier-scanners for all branch libraries.

Good value for the money, right? Please vote YES on Measure 29-164!
