Sheriff Brown in Coming to Town (Wheeler)

Submitted By: peggy@coastconstruction.biz – Click to email about this post
Friday, June 17th in Wheeler at 2:30
We will be serving hotdogs, please bring your own beverages (not mentioned in the flyer). Also bring a dish to share if you’d like.
This is our opportunity to speak with Sheriff Joshua Brown on the issues at hand. Let’s keep this a community event and try not to get too “Political”.
This is a call to everyone to get together and discuss how We as a Community can help change the “Crime Wave” that doesn’t seem to be going away.
Things you may want to think about:
When you see something – Say something (here is the non-emergency police number 503-815-1911)
Text your neighbors if you see a creepy car/person/bicycle AND call the number.
Plaster “real Criminals” all over Facebook, Next Door and ANY other media site (let’s run them out of our village).
Did you know we had another arrest in Wheeler 2 days ago? YIPPEE one more for our team!
Here is a link to the inmates currently behind bars www.co.tillamook.or.us/inmate-list?order=book_date&sort=asc
Have a great day and hope to see you there!

King size bed by Room & Board (Manzanita)

Submitted By: Julia_markova@hotmail.com – Click to email about this post
This is still a pretty nice high end bed. Fabric upholstery, sturdy metal legs, metals mattress slats.

It is pretty big yet easy to take apart.
We are looking to have the bedroom redone and there is literally no other room big in our house for this bed so it must go:).

We have had it for a few years now. Bought originally from Room & Board here
(www.roomandboard.com/catalog/bedroom/beds) .

You have to be able to come and take the bed apart in order to take it with you.

I will post the mattress separately (it is also free). If you are taking the bed only, you need to be strong enough to help me lift the mattress off the bed (is is SUPER heavy:), no catches otherwise, truly free for you to take home.

Thank you!

Puttz Mini Golf Tournament & Fundraiser: Tuesday, June 7th

Submitted By: tolovanaartscolony@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
On Tuesday, June 7th, the Puttz, a city-wide mini-golf extravaganza produced by the Tolovana Arts Colony, returns to Cannon Beach.

Entering its 14th year, the colorful, community-centric event invites golfers of all ages and skill levels to play a course spread throughout Cannon Beach then party down with tacos and a silent auction.

Each mini-golf hole is designed, sponsored and hosted by a Cannon Beach business. Golfers are encouraged to dress up however they see fit. Prizes are given for best (and worst) score, and best outfits.

“After being squashed by the pandemic for two years, we’re beyond eager to resume this beloved Cannon Beach tradition,” says Arts Colony Program Director Andrew Tonry. “We’re hoping players are as excited to return as we are.”

Golf runs from 1-to-5PM. After that, revelers

Opportunity to sign for Reduction of Gun Violence Act

Submitted By: Constance@nehalemtel.net – Click to email about this post
Dear Friends, Neighbors and Community. After last week’s horrific killing of 19 children and 2 adults, I knew I had to do something more than feel bad or allow resignation to set in. I learned of LEVO (Lift Every Voice Oregon) and knew I needed to take ACTION by being part of gathering signatures for this initiative. Together, we can do Anything, thank you.

Please come to the Manzanita Farmers Market and show your support for change by signing this petition. We will be near the entrance and you must be a registered voter in Oregon to sign and be counted. Please spread the word to those who may not have access to the BBQ. I see this initiative as common sense in part by requiring a permit to purchase, stricter background checks and limiting magazines to a maximum of 10.

IP 17 Summary (full text at www.lifteveryvoiceoregon.com)

REDUCTION OF GUN VIOLENCE ACT

All firearm purchasers will need a permit to buy a firearm. Before issuance, the permit applicant must successfully complete a background check (regardless of how long it takes), as well as pass both a firearm safety training class and a live-fire training session, as those terms are defined in IP 17.

The permit is valid for 5 years. Whether the seller is a licensed dealer or unlicensed seller at a gun show, at the time of purchase, a current, valid, permit must be presented and a background check must be successfully completed before any firearm is turned over to or received by the purchaser.

Restrictions are also imposed upon purchase of the certain ammunition. No magazines over 10 rounds can be purchased or sold after the effective date of the Act and those already owned on that date are restricted to the owner’s sole use on personal property, at shooting ranges, competition and lawful recreational activities such as hunting, provided they are transported to such locations in a locked container separate from any firearm. Sale or transfer of large-capacity magazines to others is prohibited, except, within 180 days of the effective date of the Act they may be sold or transferred to a licensed dealer or permanently altered to only hold 10 rounds or, at any time, turned in to law enforcement for destruction.

Manufacturing of large-capacity magazines or sale by a dealer is also prohibited, except for military and law enforcement purposes.

The penalty for violation of this law is a Class A misdemeanor or, in some instances, if the violator has one or more prior convictions at the time of the charge, the penalty is a Class C felony.

Chamber Orchestra concerts this weekend

Submitted By: sdawagner@icloud.com – Click to email about this post
The North Coast Chamber Orchestra will present two classical music concerts in June, their final performances of the 2021-22 season. This unique ensemble, under the direction of conductor Cory Pederson, is a group of dedicated North Coast musicians offering live classical music in local venues. Titled “European Enchantment”, these concerts will feature a varied selection of performances by soloists, string ensemble, and full orchestra.
The first concert will take place on Friday, June 3 at St. Catherine’s Episcopal Church (36335 N. Hwy 101, Nehalem, OR) beginning at 7:00pm. This is a beautiful and intimate venue, a favorite of musicians and audience alike. ALL audience members (children and adults) will be required to show proof of vaccination against COVID-19 in order to attend this concert.
The second concert will be on Sunday, June 5 at Camp Kiwanilong (595 SW Ridge Road in Warrenton, OR) beginning at 3:00pm. Nestled just south of Fort Stevens along the shores of Long Lake, the Camp offers a secluded and private rustic environment for events. This will be an outdoor concert, and the Orchestra’s first performance at this venue.
Tickets will be sold at the door for both concerts. Admission will be: $10 adults, $5 students, and children under 12 (with adult supervision) free.
