Tables and miscellaneous furniture at White Clover Grange

Submitted By: vivi@nehalemtel.net – Click to email about this post
Thanks to generous donations from our community, we now have twelve new 8-foot folding tables at the White Clover Grange! That leaves our old heavy tables ready to go to new permanent homes. These are best used in your barn or shop where you won’t be moving them very often.

We’ve got five 6-foot tables and three 8-foot tables leaning up against the ramp on the south side of the building. Come and get them! You’ll also see some miscellaneous chairs and other furniture, yours to take.

We’ve put a donation can out on the end of the ramp, and if you’re inspired to give us $5 or $10 or more, we well happily put it towards the ongoing maintenance of our beautiful and historic building.

Friends of NCRD Flowers for Sale

Submitted By: pattyrinehart@nehalemtel.net – Click to email about this post
Starting tomorrow, Thursday, Friends of North County Recreation District (NCRD) will be selling flowers at the Little Apple Grocery Store in Manzanita. The flowers are picked fresh each morning and taken to the store about 10 AM. Tomorrow’s flowers are being done by Jessie and Shirley, representatives of 1st Security Bank. As long as we have flowers and arrangers, we will have fresh flowers for you at that location 7 days a week. We might miss a few days due to lack of flowers.

Over the years, Friends of NCRD has been able to provide $14,000 for scholarships-about half of which go to the Youth Department at NCRD. Studies have shown kids who attend preschool or after school programs are ahead of the game in academics and social skills. Friends want to do the best we can with our younger generations as they will be taking care of us someday. By supporting our flower sales, we are supporting our kids, who in turn will be supporting us. Thanks!

Wedding cake tiered display

Submitted By: tevisdiii@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
I’m looking for a tiered way to display wedding cupcakes. If you have one to borrow that would be great. I’ll buy one if needed but it might be the last wedding I’ll need one for, in the family, so I thought I’d see what bbqland has first.
Thank you in advance.

$1100 —LG Smart Double Wall Oven – Microwave Combo
This item is brand new, still in the box.
Stainless Steel. We recently remodeled our kitchen. This oven won’t fit where we originally intended to install it. Had to redesign the kitchen but had already purchased from a store on the east coast. We would have had to pay restocking fees and shipping. Lesson learned….

FOR LOVE OF FRIENDS

FOR LOVE OF FRIENDS

For love of Friends of NCRD, our North County Community has been extraordinarily generous with donations and fundraising this past year (July 2023 – June 2024). With love for our Community’s families, Friends has met its Mission to support NCRD programs and provide scholarships to encourage inclusion for all.

More than $14,000 in scholarships – with over half going to the Youth Department – have been given to NCRD families. Summer months are when our Youth Department and Youth Sports Program have the highest needs, and we expect an increase in scholarship needs in the Fall. With gratitude and appreciation for our many dedicated volunteers, Friends of NCRD is now reaching out to the community in another way.

As we start the new fiscal year, Friends of NCRD is calling on community members to fill Board positions. We need several dedicated Board members to help guide our Mission. For love of NCRD and Friends’ Mission, IS THAT YOU?

If you’d like to be considered for a Board position, please contact Gail:

Netarts Bay Salt Marsh Tour

Submitted By: vicky@netartsbaywebs.org – Click to email about this post
Join Friends of Netarts Bay – Watershed, Estuary, Beach, and Sea (WEBS) for a FREE event including a presentation and guided tour along the salt marsh at the southern end of Netarts Bay. Learn about the plants and animals in this unique habitat and the importance of this environment from the forest to the water’s edge. Discover how plants survive in a salty world and explore vegetation succession from the bay to the dunes.

This program includes two parts: a presentation followed by a walking tour.

SALT MARSH PRESENTATION

This presentation will review salt marsh habitats and give an overview of the common plants found in these areas and how they are adapted to survive in these salty locations.

SALT MARSH WALK

After the presentation, explore the salt marsh with biologist and WEBS board member, Jim Young. This field-based walking tour includes an easy to moderate 1.5 to 3-mile hike through muddy, wet sand, and loose sand areas. Trails may be covered by brush. This program is best suited for participants 12 years and older who are comfortable with walking in these environments.

Participants will need to provide transportation between locations and may need to purchase a day-use permit at the state park. Participants should wear long pants, closed-toe shoes, or boots (no flip-flops, please, and expect your feet to get muddy) for this adventure. At times, the tour areas will have a moderate number of mosquitos. WEBS has a limited supply of mosquito nets for participants to wear over their heads if they choose. WEBS requests that participants take appropriate precautions to ensure their comfort. Please be prepared for dynamic coastal weather on the Oregon coast.
Cost: There is no cost to attend this program. Donations in support of Friends of Netarts Bay WEBS are welcome!
This event is part of the Explore Nature series of hikes, walks, paddles, and outdoor adventures. Explore Nature events are hosted by a consortium of volunteer community and non-profit organizations, and are meaningful nature-based experiences that highlight the unique beauty of Tillamook County and the work being done to preserve and conserve the area’s natural resources and natural resource-based economy.
