Free Organic Latex King size Mattress topper, 2

Submitted By: elaine.emmons@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
Organic King-size latex foam pad mattress topper, 2″. Clean, no stains, rips or tears. Organic cover as well. I should have taken a photo with it on the bed. Very heavy. Small people will need to bring someone to help move it. Perhaps a clean tarp to wrap it in. Slightly smaller (an inch or two) than a regular king. Very comfortable. Contact me through my email and I will share location and phone number. We are just outside of Nehalem on the way to Manzanita. Thank you.

Ms. Tinnin’s claims in her latest post are factually incorrect when she states: ” Resolution 23-23, adopted on June 7, 2023, formally authorized a Special Public Works Fund (SPWF) loan contract with the State of Oregon.”

Resolution 23-23 would not be presented to the City Council for adoption until December 6, 2023. Mayor Simmons was no longer on Council and Councilor Stock voted yes to the loan and debt financing plan with Business Oregon.

Below are the City Council meeting minutes of December 6, 2023 when Resolution 23-23 was unanimously passed by the City Council.

City Council Regular Session
December 6, 2023 Minutes

D. Special Public Works Fund Loan with Business Oregon – Leila Aman City Manager City Manager Leila Aman shared the Key Loan Terms and fine details of the Special Public Works Fund Loan and said that Oregon Business Development Department authorized the loan proceeds up to $5,134.631. She asked council to approve the interim financing with Resolution 23-23. She communicated that the signed loan documents, the city’s attorney opinion and Resolution 23-23 are required to execute the loan.

A motion was made by Hart to accept Resolution 23-23 Authorizing a Loan from the Special Public Works Fund and Delegating Authority to the City Manager to Enter into a Financing Contract with the Oregon Infrastructure Finance Authority.
Seconded by Spegman; Motion passed unanimously.

Manzanita Farmers Market Week 13: Friday 4 to 7

Submitted By: info@manzanitafarmersmarket.com – Click to email about this post
We’re back for another week of market!  Produce is still at its peak for a few more weeks, so come get it while the getting is good.  Sedona Fire Band will be back this week bringing us their fun danceable mix of eclectic world/folk/blues fusion.  It’s a party!

Just a heads up that we will be short a couple of your favorite vendors tomorrow.  Malia’s Grill will be at a full weekend event in Seaside, and NeahKahNie Smokehouse had to call in for the week. But Gnarly’s Tacos, OYS oysters, Sasquatch Sandwiches, and Antojito’s Don Berna will be keeping your bellies full while you enjoy the music, and try some of the delicious tunas and fresh fish at TreFin seafood!

Did you know that you can use your SNAP benefits at the market, and that we triple match up to $20 every week?  That means that if you spend $20 in SNAP, you get $60 to spend at market.  Visit us at the info booth, just inside the entrance, to run your card and learn more.

See you tomorrow, Friday 4-7, at 635 Manzanita Ave behind City Hall.

Saturday-Peaceful Protest in Nehalem

Submitted By: pattyrinehart@nehalemtel.net – Click to email about this post
Dear Friends,

Do hope you will join North County Resistance on Saturday, August 8th, in Nehalem, from noon to 2 PM. The political news we listen to makes us all shake our heads. This news is confusing, always changing, and generally never the same from day to day. DOJ seems to be taking on anybody Trump tells them to. Destructive language is ruining many and there seems to be no way out for them. It seems anything can happen to anybody-laws are bent and broken in order to bend and break rules and people’s lives. I see the people who join us on Saturday in Nehalem are HEROS. The people who drive by and honk, the people who are writing letters, the people who stop us on the street and thank us-you too are HEROS. Thank you one and all!

Please bring a can or two of food to our protest on Saturday. We need to help the many people in our community who need more support in our community. Again, gas cards, canned or boxed food are greatly needed. We will get this food to both the North County Food Bank and to the Nehalem Bay Community Services. Every day you see people who benefit from your generosity.

Best,
Patty Rinehart

There You Go Again…….

There you go again…….

Randy just can’t help himself. He, of course, continues to miss the big picture.

He humphs about bumps, humps and other mediocre topics. What’s he trying to prove?

But he is wrong about the City Hall funding decision vote that took place on June 2023, led by Mayor Simmons and that Council. The vote was critical to move forward on the City Hall project. It was a very intense debate and decision. Watch the recording for that critical financing decision that is the key for building the City Hall.

Here is Resolution 23 – 23: (the last 2 digits reflects the year, so 2023)
Manzanita City Council Resolution 23-23, adopted on June 7, 2023, formally authorized a Special Public Works Fund (SPWF) loan contract with the State of Oregon.

This financial agreement helped fund infrastructure planning and development, specifically relating to the city’s public works and new City Hall project facilities.

Key Details Action: Authorized state loan contract execution.
Fund: Special Public Works Fund (SPWF) via the State of Oregon.
Date Adopted: June 7, 2023.
Purpose: Securing financing for municipal infrastructure and public works strategies.

Mayor Simmons was the elected Mayor on June 7, 2023. She led the Council that night in key votes for Phase 2 of the City Hall project. (Mayor Simmons did move out of Manzanita in August of 2023 and resigned officially in November 2023. The November Council meeting is when Simmons said she was taking the “bully pulpit” that night.)

Cape Lookout Stewardship Days

Submitted By: vicky@netartsbaywebs.org – Click to email about this post
Join WEBS for a Rewarding Day of Stewardship at Cape Lookout State Park.

Come and spend a meaningful morning outdoors with WEBS staff and volunteers on Wednesday, August 26, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., helping care for one of Oregon’s most treasured coastal parks.

While Cape Lookout’s campground and day-use area are temporarily closed for construction, volunteers have a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact by improving a trail at the park. This hands-on stewardship project is open to all experience levels. Please note that the work is physically demanding and is not suitable for youth under the age of 14.

We’ll meet at the Cape Lookout Trailhead and hike approximately 1.5 miles along the trail to our work site. Once there, volunteers will help carry buckets of gravel to strengthen one of the trail’s muddiest sections, creating a safer, more durable walking surface. We’ll also use hand tools to level the trail and improve drainage, helping protect this beautiful landscape for future visitors.

Whether you’re looking to give back, enjoy time in nature, or learn new trail-building skills, this is a fantastic opportunity to work alongside Oregon State Park rangers and fellow community volunteers. Come prepared to get your hands dirty, make new connections, and leave knowing you’ve made a real difference for Cape Lookout State Park!

LIVE THEATRE NEXT WEEK! 3 days CANNON BEACH! New Play Getting Critical Acclaim – The Silent Measure

Submitted By: admin@northcoastcreativeforum.com – Click to email about this post
COMING UP NEXT WEEK!!!

COASTER THEATRE in Cannon Beach for 3 DAYS ONLY!!!

Following an acclaimed debut at the NCRD Performing Arts Center in Nehalem, writer and director Bryan Churchill’s new multimedia play, The Silent Measure, is heading to Cannon Beach and Astoria this late summer and fall.

Audience response following the Nehalem premiere has been overwhelmingly resonant. “The biggest takeaway has been how deeply it’s sticking with people,” says Churchill. “Days after the curtain closed, audience members were still coming up to talk about the dialogue, the acting, and the questions the story leaves behind.”

We are living through a strange moment in our collective history. The tools we’ve built to assist us have quietly learned to anticipate us while silently taking over our lives, turning up the pressure on what it means to be conscious, alive, real, even loved. This play is about what happens when our interactions with technology get pressed to the point where something has to give.

The play centers on Carmen Novak—a scientist studying extinction—and her autonomous AI assistant, IRIS. As the two confront buried grief and the blurring line between human and machine.

Novak is played by North Coast veteran and award-winning actor Cyndi Fisher, opposite local actor Pamela Cromwell as IRIS.
Upcoming Performances:

Cannon Beach: Coaster Theatre | August 13, 14 & 15, 2026
Astoria: Ten Fifteen Productions | September 10, 11 & 12, 2026

Tickets are available at the door and online at www.thesilentmeasure.com.
