Nestucca Valley Artisans Festival Returns to Pacific City

The 28th Annual Nestucca Valley Artisans Festival returns to beautiful Pacific City Saturday and Sunday, August 20-21, 10-5 each day. The show will take place at the Kiawanda Community Center, 34600 Cape Kiwanda Dr. This event has been a community and coastal favorite since the early 1990s, and now after a two-year Covid hiatus, the show is back!

Artwork will be available for sale in a variety of art forms, created by 15 local area artists, some who have shown their work every year since 1993, others who are new to the festival. Participating artists are: Michael and Linda Soeby (pottery), Lynne Wintermute (oil and cold wax painting), Bill Cary (pottery), Arlon Gilliland (painting and masks), Dana Hulburt (acrylic painting on birch panels), Victor Guschov (painting), Barb Haddad (ceramics), Alita Pearl (silver jewelry and leather), Danelle Jones (nature illustration), Karen Gelbard (handwoven apparel), Kent and Nancy Searles (lapidary, wire wrapping, ceramics), Merrie Jo Snow (painting and prints), Nancy McEwen (painting), Kelly Howard (blown glass), and Mark Cavatorta (ceramics).

Not An Illusion: $5 Magical Manzanita Monday Flowers

Yes, here we go again…another $5 Magical Manzanita Monday. Stop by the Deli parking lot in downtown Manzanita and pick up a $5 bouquet for yourself, your neighbor, and the person who feeds you. We can make you larger bouquets for special occasions, but why not take advantage of our sale on Monday! Get in touch with Gail-gailmyoung@mac.com to put in your special order. Birthday, anniversary, thank you bouquets are our specialties. Support Friends of North County Recreation District by buying our flowers. All sales go directly to projects and programs at NCRD. We sell in downtown Manzanita- 7 days a week. We also have order forms and pictures of our fall planted/spring blooming bulbs next to the Deli. We are offering some very unique bulbs for your special gardens. Also peek at the selection of amaryllis-which will come to you planted and ready to grow. Again, all profits go directly to NCRD programs and projects. Thanks for your support!

Small travel trailer 1966 Little Dipper made by Northwest Coach. Mostly Original with interior LED lights added. 12v battery for water pump to kitchen sink . One outlet and several 110 v lights. propane stove and water heater. Icebox. No toilet or shower. Original table and seating/sleeping arrangement. The body is 11′ long. add the tongue 3′ so overall 14′ long. No gray or black water tanks just a fresh water tank under the floor. Has curtains and seat cushions. Looks good inside and out.

What a great time on Saturday, meeting so many wonderful people and neighbors during our home moving sale at Pine Ridge Manzanita. So many items went out to the community. Wishing everyone happiness with each and every item. Thank you all.

Now there are just a few items left. So this is the last chance: Dining room table and 6 chairs, King bed and mattress, a dresser. Great low prices. What doesn’t sell is going to Consignment NW in the Portland area. Call if interested

In case you missed it – the JW Merc raw local honey/real Vermont maple syrup roadside “pop-up” booth will be back in Wheeler THIS Tuesday (August 16th) from 12-5. We set up in front of the building that Pelican & Piper’s newly expanded store is in (Hwy 101/Rector St – across from the train stop). The items in the pictures will be the main focus of this visit (local bee pollen comes in four-ounce bags – $10 each) – though there will be some other items/jar or jug sizes as usual. FULL GALLONS OF HONEY and BLUEBERRY HONEY IN QUART JAR SIZE ARE ALREADY SOLD OUT! (thank you to those who pre-ordered). There will be several half-gallons of the darker wildflower – and maybe a couple in lighter variety. One-pound jars ($12 each) of buckwheat, blueberry, OG Multi-flora from Hawaii and Star Thistle are in good quantity – and I am bringing the last twelve pint jars of Old Blue blackberry honey (no kidding – last call as they are retiring this label – $18 each). Barleans quarts (crystallized) are still $23 while they last – most are darker wildflower varieties (including carrot!) Nehalem Elementary School is planning to significantly cut the historic swim program from weekly lessons throughout the school year, to 10-12 lessons per year. Sign this petition to let administrators and school board members know that you believe it is worth the time and effort to continue this program as it was intended, 90+ years ago.

Beach Running/ jogging Club starting

It is in the talks , not formalized yet, with NCRD to form a Beach / jogging club who would meet twice a week for a 4 miles workout . We may do different beaches. Open to suggestions. 4 miles is a “One hour “good workout .
some Race walkers are fast too, so welcome.
The game /challenge with oneself is to see -and improve with consistency . Can we go from a 16 minutes mile to a 14 mns Mile ?
