Fred Meyer Scam

Submitted By: bbq@nehalemtel.net – Click to email about this post
Has anyone in bbq land received a telephone call from an alleged Fred Meyer person indicating you had one a store gift card that they wish to deliver to your door? If so let us know, as we’ve checked with Fredd Meyer mangers of both Tillamook and Warrenton stores and they have no knowledge of such a card or visitation protocol.
Thanks.

The Ol’ Bait and Switch

Submitted By: bluefishout@earthlink.net – Click to email about this post
Imagine the scene: You’re at the Fair. It’s the first big event you’ve been to in over a year. Maybe you’re holding the hand of someone you care about. Maybe you got the elephant ear that you’d been craving. You’re happy and doing something normal feels good. Then someone shouts out “Hey, do you want to sign a petition to protect the Second Amendment?”
It’s an obvious yes for a lot of people. Maybe even me. But then I would ask what were they doing with the petition. I’m always wary of the ol’ bait and switch.
Good people take things at face value and sometimes not-so-good people take advantage of that.
I can believe that folks signed the petition to get Measure 29-161 on the ballot based on a false promise that it protects the Second Amendment. It doesn’t and there is every chance that signers weren’t given the opportunity to read the full ordinance before signing.
If they had they would see that it had no power to affect the Second Amendment and that the real question should’ve been “Hey, do you want to sign a petition that limits local law enforcement on basically all firearm regulations?”
That question is not as obvious of a yes. They wanted the signatures so they didn’t ask that way.
I know this to be true because every signer that I have checked with has told me that it happened as described above.
With transparency Measure 29-161 would’ve never made it on the ballot.
It’s up to voters to right this wrong.
Vote NO! on the false promises of Measure 29-161.

KMUN Benefit featuring JOHN GORKA LIVE May 12

KMUN Benefit featuring JOHN GORKA

Thursday, May 12th at 7:00pm

Charlene Larsen Center for the Performing Arts (the PAC)

588 16th St (16 & Franklin) in Astoria OR

Tickets at www.PartnersForThePac.org or 503-338-9132

Mask and proof of vaccination are required.

Please join us for a very special performance at the Larsen Center – Astoria PAC with the marvelous JOHN GORKA May 12th. Come spend an evening with “the preeminent male singer-songwriter of the New Folk Movement” (Rolling Stone); known for his stunning and emotional baritone, dry wit, and introspective lyrics. The intimate setting assures a delightful, engaging and interactive evening!

Gorka’s last Astoria show sold out – so get your tickets today.

This concert is a fundraiser for our community radio station – KMUN.

The modern renaissance of folk music began when John Gorka won the Kerrville Folk Festival’s New Folk award in 1984, and it grew to maturity when he released his debut album “I Know” three years later.

Here was a singer-songwriter with a striking baritone voice that made you feel like you’d been hearing it all your life, with the songwriting chops to take on and see into nearly every type of song—from personal pieces about love and sadness, to bemused observations about daily life, political thinking-aloud, and sheer unmitigated whimsy.

Nearly four decades later, John still calls himself an aspiring folksinger, and his music has just kept getting deeper and better over his more than 15 critically acclaimed albums. John isn’t on the road as much as he used to be, so don’t miss this chance to catch a folk classic. You’ll leave the theater smiling.

Reply to County Commissioner

I read a post here supporting Mary Faith Bell for County Commissioner. Much of the post was devoted to how unfit her opponent is. I think we should vote FOR someone and not against their opponent.
I know Mary Faith out of the pubic eye as we are neighbors. I know the kind of person she is on a daily basis. She is warm, intelligent, compassionate, empathetic, and trustworthy. No matter the demands of this office, those qualities will stand her in good stead.
I support Mary Faith Bell because of the person she is and the integrity she brings to this office.

Half Price Sale Nehalem Bay Garden Club Sunday 10-noon

Submitted By: barbaraandchuck@nehalemtel.net – Click to email about this post
Sunday, May 8th is the last day for the Nehalem Bay Garden Club plant sale from 10am to noon. Most things will be half price! (Tomatoes and Mother’s Day gifts not included)

Location of the sale is 43080 Northfork Rd, Nehalem at the junction of Hwy 53 and Northfork Rd. Look for the horse sculpture! (5 miles from the blinking light in Nehalem, straight out N Fork Rd till you come to Hwy 53. It’s on the left right before Hwy 53.)

Get your raffle tickets for a iRobot Vacuum Model 805 Roomba, complete with all the paperwork in the cardboard tray it came in. Tickets are $5 each or 6 for $20.

We even still have some TOMATOES as well as Mother’s Day gifts, perennials, veggies, herbs, annuals, succulents, ground covers, trees, shrubs and house plants.

Thanks to all who braved the weather on Saturday to come out to the sale. Your purchases have helped our community! Nehalem Bay Garden Club donates proceeds from the sale to local organizations that share the Club’s mission. Recently the focus for these grants has been on food security. Past recipients include North County Food Bank, Nehalem Bay United Methodist Church for their food programs, Food Roots, Hoffman Gardens, Alder Creek Farm, Nehalem Elementary Garden Program, and the mural at Nehalem City Park.

Club members also want to share their appreciation to the folks at the Lower Nehalem Community Trust. Since Alder Creek Farm is not having a plant sale this year, due to a gap in garden management resources, they graciously made their hoop house available for the Club’s use. It is currently stocked with the tomatoes growing big and lush in the heat and light of the hoop house.

Solid Wood Bed Frame Queen IKEA $100

Submitted By: mica.f.russo@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
I’m selling a like-new bed frame fit for a queen-size mattress. It’s made by IKEA (the TARVA model) and features *real* pine wood and a support beam made of galvanized steel. In addition, it comes with a slatted-wood bed base for mattress support (the LURÖY model). The TARVA queen bed frame is out of stock at the IKEA store in Portland.

TARVA Bed Frame: www.ikea.com/us/en/p/tarva-bed-frame-pine-s29930097/

LURÖY Slatted Bed Base: www.ikea.com/us/en/p/luroey-slatted-bed-base-00160215/

I purchased this set last year and it’s served me well. The color is beautiful and has a simple craftsman vibe. I’m only selling it because I’ve moved to a smaller space and am downsizing. My loss is your gain!

Overall, the frame and slatted base are in great condition. There are small scratches on the legs at the foot of the bed frame from my cat (see photo attached), which are only aesthetic in nature. The solid pine frame has natural variations in grain, color and texture. It’s untreated, but you could oil, wax, lacquer or stain the pine surface.

The frame is currently in four pieces and will require some light assembly. The instructions are provided below: www.ikea.com/us/en/assembly_instructions/tarva-bed-frame-pine__AA-1921249-2-2.pdf

Bed Frame Dimensions
Length: 82 1/4″
Width: 63″
Footboard height: 12 5/8″
Headboard height: 36 1/4″
Mattress length: 79 1/2″
Mattress width: 59 7/8″
