NEIL SIMON’S COMING-OF-AGE COMEDY ‘BRIGHTON BEACH MEMOIRS’

NCRD PERFORMING ARTS CENTER March 18th – April 2nd.

Tickets at www.RiverbendPlayers.org

Dreaming of baseball and girls, young Eugene must cope with the mundane existence of his family life in Brooklyn: formidable mother, overworked father, and his worldly older brother Stanley.

Throw into the mix his widowed Aunt Blanche and her two young (but rapidly growing) daughters and you have a recipe for hilarity, served up Simon-style.

Meet the Cast: Christine Calkins (Kate/mother)

Christine has called the Oregon Coast home for 15 years now.

She is a former teacher at Fire Mountain School, where she enjoyed helping students put on their own productions.

Christine is excited to join River Bend Players and return to the stage after a brief hiatus of 40 years. In high school, she played Dagmar in ‘I Remember Momma’.

Make substantial difference in People’s Lives

Feel really good for at least a MONTH, by donating to either one or more of the organizations listed below. And then once that month is over you can feel good about yourself-all over again-by donating the next month! All these organizations need cash, some need clothing for both adults and children. What can you do-$10/month, $25/month, or, just what can you do? And then there is the clothing. Please just go clean out your closets. Coats, sweatshirts, sweatpants, hats, pants, and tops, whatever you have will make a substantial difference in people’s lives and how they feel-besides staying warm. How about some clean blankets?
Please do what you can to help others in our community. The rewards are enormous!

WANTED LONG TERM RENTAL

WANTED LONG TERM RENTAL OR LONG TERM HOUSE SITTING OPPORTUNITY

Still searching……….

I am searching for a long term rental, preferably or a long term housing opportunity, as in house sitting.

Long term rental – 1 bedroom, (2 bedrooms would be ideal) 1 bath and possibly with a garage, in the tri-village area. I am 63 years young female, on a fixed income and I have one precious kitty who is 17 years old. Both Mercy and myself would take great pride in keeping the property in excellent condition. Great rental history with previous owners and current owners. References available from previous property manager at Along the Coast Properties.

I recently lost the opportunity to continue renting the previous long term rental for 13 years because new owners plan to renovate the two unit property.

Or perhaps there is someone out there who is in need of having their home occupied and taken care of, such as through a long term house sitting arrangement because of infrequent visits to their home?

Any leads would greatly appreciated.

Please feel free to email me with any information concerning these two options.

Thank you
Kerry and Mercy

Concerts this weekend feature PETER AND THE WOLF with Liz Cole narrating

Submitted By: sdawagner@icloud.com – Click to email about this post
The North Oregon Coast Symphony continues its 2022-2023 season with two concerts this weekend. The orchestra, under the direction of conductor Cory Pederson, is an ensemble of North Coast musicians offering live classical music in local venues. Titled “Playful Inspirations”, the afternoon concerts will feature Serge Prokofiev’s “Peter and the Wolf”. This classic children’s tale set to music is the perfect form for introducing young people to the various orchestral instruments, as each character in the story is represented by a musical “voice.” The narrator will be Liz Cole, an award-winning stage and TV actor (“Seinfeld”, “Star Trek”, “ER”) who now lives in Manzanita.
The program will begin with Peter and the Wolf, and children (with adult supervision) are encouraged to attend. Admission is free for children12 and under.
Other highlights of the concerts include a Vivaldi guitar piece performed by Jim Achilles, solo piano pieces performed by Diane Amos, and small ensemble presentations. The balance of the program will feature full orchestral works by Mendelssohn, Rossini, and Beethoven.

The first concert will take place on Saturday, March 11 at St. Catherine’s Episcopal Church (36335 N. Hwy 101, Nehalem, OR) beginning at 3:00 pm. Tickets will be sold at the door only for this concert.
The second concert will be on Sunday, March 12 at the Charlene Larsen Center for the Performing Arts (588 16th St., Astoria, OR) beginning at 3 pm. Tickets will be sold online and at the door for this concert. To purchase tickets online, visit LarsenCenter.org., or by phone at 503-338-9132.
Admission for both concerts will be: $10 Adults, $5 students, and children 12 and under (with adult supervision) free.

Meet The Cast of Riverbend Players Production of ‘Brighton Beach Memoirs’: Brian McMahon

NEIL SIMON’S COMING OF AGE COMEDY ‘BRIGHTON BEACH MEMOIRS’ at the NCRD PERFORMING ARTS CENTER March 18th – April 2nd.
Meet the Cast: Brian McMahon as Jack (overworked father)
65 years ago Brian’s mom gave birth to a 10-pound ham. Brian was born to be an actor, just not on stage.
Some even say Brian should be on the stage and there’s one leaving in 15 minutes. (Hi-O! We know, very timely jokes.)
Brian lives in Manzanita with his wife Betsy, who has also performed in Riverbend Players productions.
Brian & Betsy have also directed numerous plays.
