Tuesday, May 16
5:30 to 7:30 pm

The guest speaker is Dr. Ross Tomlin of Tillamook Bay Community College.

Dr. Tomlin will talk about the activities and news at TBCC. For example, a new Nursing program has been approved, and work on it is already underway. The college is also working on the planning phase of two significant construction projects. This means more opportunities for students and the community.

Remember to bring an appetizer, main course, dessert to share, and your place setting. We will provide wine, water, coffee, and tea.

The potluck is a Member-only event. If you want to join Pine Grove Community House, you can do so at the potluck.

Vote YES for quality and access to local health and senior care

Submitted By: nehalemhealthcare@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
If you haven’t returned your ballot for the May 16 election you still have time, but you’ll need to utilize a drop box.

Two of the most convenient north county drop box locations are in Manzanita just off Laneda Avenue near Manzanita News and Espresso (in front of the bus stop) and in Rockaway at city hall right on Highway 101. Your ballot must be in the drop box before 8:00 pm on May 16.

Your vote in favor of the Health District ballot measure will allow our community to enter a new era of improved local health and senior care. We have a once in a generation opportunity to improve health care right here at home. Don’t miss the chance to make a difference.

Vote like local health care depends on it – because it does.

Why ME for NCRD

Submitted By: constanceforncrd@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
Hello Community….. I imagine you may be tired of all the campaigning, me too! I want you to know I appreciate all who have voted for me and all who may still vote for me. I WANT YOUR VOTE.

I want this. I have been involved with the NCRD since 2008. I didn’t go to school here, I don’t have children in Programs at the NCRD and I use very few of the offerings of late. Regardless of not having those roots, I have been an out loud, consistent, contribution and promoter of NCRD and I am not willing to be resigned to; ‘you can’t please everyone,’ when actually you can, if service is a priority. The 3 Villages and beyond are customers of the NCRD and if ANYONE experiences not feeling at home, welcomed and supported, then staff needs to be evaluated and possibly changed.

The Board HAS to have Community service/support be the first priority and in the background for EVERY decision. The Board needs to be looking at how revenue is being driven and not allow another 2 years where very little new money comes in.

My name is Constance, around me People and Organizations excel, we get er done! I am asking YOU to vote for ME. Thank you

I Need a Ride, Not another App.

I’m 27 years old and I would really like to finish my AA and transfer to a 4-year college. But, I‘ve chosen to live on the Oregon coast, which has been an amazing experience. It’s a different kind of education. It’s enriching, just as continuing my formal education would be.

There’s a good community college nearby and I have been able to take a few classes and meet some great people that I’m sure I will know forever. I’m building a life here and it feels correct. A lot of people might not appreciate such a simple idea, but for people like me, people that are on their own and just doing the best they can, it’s a really big deal.

I have attempted to get myself more invested in pursuing the AA, as the path to getting it and moving forward has been made very clear to me. I know it will be a big accomplishment that moves my life in the direction I want. All I have to do is show up.

This is where the problem lies. I don’t drive. So, I either ask a friend or I take the bus. I can get my head around regular bus travel. I kind of like it. The real problem with my plight to attend college is that there is NO BUS at the TIME I need it. I work full time and the only classes that fit my schedule are in the evenings. Those classes end around 9pm. The bus to the college stops running at 7pm. This leaves me stranded about 15 miles from home. So, I don’t go to school right now. I just dream.

I watched the MooVoter candidate forums and was able to hear from the candidates for Transportation Board. I had never heard of any of these people, but in listening to them I knew they weren’t bus riders. Some said everything was fine and that is way off. Others touted technology as a solution. “No!” I shouted at the screen. An app won’t move me from point A to point B.

Despite my shouting at the screen I was also given some hope. The one candidate that stood out was Mary Leverette. Clearly, this person is smart, creative, calm, and although not a bus rider, I felt like she wanted to understand and that she would work hard to do just that.

In watching this forum, my dreams of getting back to aggressively pursuing this degree came alive. I’m voting for Mary Leverette for the Transportation Board. I don’t know if she can fix my particular situation, but I feel like she’s the only candidate that will try. I hope you’ll join me.

PS: The image is kind of how it feels to be me in this situation. I hope it helps sum things up. Please vote!
