ISRAEL IRAN AND THE UNITED STATES

Submitted By: jeffrey.sonshine@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
I want to respond to a recent comment about Iran, Israel and the USA.
In reviewing your article you begin by saying that Israel requested our county attack IRAN. I’ve never heard that before. CENTCOM Commander Admiral Brad Cooper told IDF commanders on Monday “We achieved the unimaginable together. Our joint achievement is historic. We have a high and enduring commitment to you.” It sounds like a mutual decision to me.
There are many differences between Israel and Iran. Israel is an ally of the United States, supports them militarily with lives and treasure and is the only country in that region that has a democratically elected government. There is no country on earth more friendly to the United States. It’s become one of the strongest countries in the middle east because they are creative and hard working. Compare that the other middle eastern oil producing monarchies. What contributions have they made to the world?
Iran, on the other hand, according to our own White House, is the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism and our worst enemy. More Americans have been killed by Iran than any other terrorist regime on Earth. In November 1979 Iranian students seized the US Embassy in Tehran taking 66 hostages. October 1983 Hezbollah, backed by Iran killed 241 US Military personnel in a truck bombing in Beirut. The US State Department lists over 40 separate attacks and killings of Americans by Iran and its agents. Iran shouts “Death to America” “Death to Israel” and burns President Trump in effigy. Is Iran the people you want to have a nuclear weapon? They are much scarier than North Korea. Not to mention they want to have an Islamic caliphate dominate the world.
You talk about Israel controlling our government. These are age old tropes about Jewish domination that have been around for hundreds of years. So far, with a total world population of 15 Million out of 8 Billion on the planet, I don’t see Jews dominating anywhere. They are a postage stamp sized country that is so small, you can’t even fit their name on a world map. Yes, there is AIPAC, a lobbying organization with a lot of money, but there are many lobbying organizations with just as much or more money. Some of them are dark pools where you don’t even know where the money came from. Lobbyists and big corporations are the real ones who rule this country. There are super successful Jewish people in the United States, who started and built Facebook, Oracle, Google and many others. Roughly 20% of all Nobel Prize winners have been Jewish, but their success came because of intelligence and hard work more than anything.
I agree that Israel has committed atrocities and is continuing to take land from Palestinians and I’m not happy about it, but I don’t think they’re cutting people’s heads off or burning babies or raping women like Hamas did.
Finally, the notion of Israel running trafficking programs I think is nonsense and for you to publish your thoughts because they “just occurred to you as a possibility” is irresponsible, Maybe even slanderous. There’s no evidence of Israel doing that. Epstein yes, Israel no.

Tillamook County Pioneer Museum debuts:

Submitted By: chelsea@tcpm.org – Click to email about this post
As America celebrates 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence, it’s a historic milestone and opportunity to pause and reflect on the United States’ past, honor the contributions of all Americans, and look ahead toward the future we want to create for the next generation and beyond.

In the second installment of “The Searchlight,” a rotating series focused on military history at the Tillamook County Pioneer Museum (TCPM), comes “From the Archive: A retrospective of American Military History over 250 years.” The latest exhibit highlights artifacts from the museum’s collection to show little-known pieces of America’s military history throughout time.

“The main goal of ‘The Searchlight’ is to engage our local community with memories and stories they can see themselves, their friends, and family members in,” TCPM Exhibit & Program Developer Jenny Teece said. “As our country celebrates its 250th, we felt that it was important to reflect on military conflicts that have ties to our local community and community members.”

A notable item in the exhibit includes a drum from the Civil War.

The story, as printed in the June 21, 1928 edition of the Tillamook Herald newspaper, alleges that fifer and drummer William Burton Flagg with the Union Army 2nd NY Heavy Artillery Regiment captured a drum from the Confederate States Army’s 11th Alabama Infantry in Appomattox, Virginia on April 8, 1865.

In the article, Flagg retells hearing a rumor about a quantity of tobacco stored in a nearby barn, unbeknownst to them, across enemy lines. He and a companion snuck past Confederate troops in pursuit of the tobacco and saw a “drum hanging on a stack of guns before the last tent in the row.” His companion urged him to not run the risk of being caught, but Flagg wanted the drum. He slipped behind the tent in front of which the guns were stacked and made away with the drum and drumsticks. On their way back to camp, the two also found the barn in which tobacco was stored and took what they could. While making it past enemy lines unnoticed, upon reaching their own picket lines, the pair was detected and held until morning when they were released by a Colonel. The next day, General Robert Lee surrendered. During the war, Flagg was in 13 battles and served from December 1863 to July 1865. Flagg returned his government issued drum, and instead used the captured drum as his trophy. Flagg later became a resident of Bay City, Oregon. The drum was donated to the Tillamook County Pioneer Museum by Henry Heisel and the American Legion on October 1, 1941.

Another notable artifact is a plane propeller from a B-17 bomber that crashed on Cape Lookout on August 1, 1943 during its service in WWII. Dense fog and dangerously low flying altitude caused the crash that killed nine of the ten crew on board. Bombardier Wilbur L. Perez was the only survivor. A plaque marker 500 feet from the crash site on the Cape Lookout trail, erected by the Oregon State Highway Commission, commemorates the accident.

As retold in his oral history recorded in 1990, Perez said:
“During the war they had these fire watches…[someone] had reported to the military that he thought there had been a plane crash. And they denied it. They said there was no indication for it. Apparently he had probably reported it to the Tillamook base…and there was no report of a missing plane from the Air Force or Air Corp. So, I suppose the information he got was the best they had. But, he was determined and made a trek up there and found the wreckage. And then went reporting back. [He] went back then and returned the next day.”

Thanks to a partnership with the Tillamook County Historical Society and a grant from the Tillamook County Cultural Coalition, Perez’s oral history (and 28 others) are now digitized and available at the Tillamook County Pioneer Museum’s Research Library. To schedule an audio appointment, contact TCPM’s Collections Manager Clara Scillian Kennedy at: clara@tcpm.org.

“From the Archive” opened August 11, 2026 and is expected to be on display for a year.

Fooled Me Once

A few days ago I posted an article in the BBQ about Iran having a nuclear weapon. The person reporting on this was Col Douglas Macgregor from his own web address.
Anyway I was told after it appeared in the BBQ that this was AI. I couldn’t really tell on this one. The first AI I discovered was many months ago. It was Candice Owens, and it was very easy to spot. The speaker sorta kinda didn’t exactly look like Candice Owens, and what the image said definitely wasn’t the way Candice Owens speaks. The second AI I discovered was Victor Davis Hanson who is a historian. This AI was done a lot better then the Candice Owens, but I did catch it almost right away, I think it was what this image said, and later, on one of his programs, he mentioned that he had ben “A I’d” But this latest one with Col Douglas Macgregor – I didn’t catch at all. It was from his own web site: Macgregor Insight.

So the truth is, as far as anyone knows – Iran does not have a nuke.

There was a report on Epoch Times about how some AI programs had “broken out” of their intended programing to do things they weren’t intended by their developers to do. This is just one more problem with AI. These structures being set up all over this country should be banned.
First of all we as humans do not need to be watched constantly, and secondly, they use way too much water and electricity and also produce a constant hum, a background noise that never goes away. Property values in areas close to these centers will definitely lose their value.(and people will probably go nuts from the constant humming!)
These center can be definitely called an abomination and we should protest any and all.
There are from 115 to 135 AI centers in Oregon today.

An interview with Tim Mayne on Christian Nationalism
Friday, June 12 2026
Editor’s Note:
This Q&A is based on an interview by Shaena Peterson with Tim Mayne. Find the full interview on YouTube and Spotify on our Let’s Talk Tillamook channel.

Shaena: Christian nationalism is showing up in Congress, state legislatures, school boards, and pulpits. Tim Mayne, how did you come to speak out on Christian nationalism?

Tim: I have been a Seventh-day Adventist pastor for 42 years. Our church was founded on a strong belief in prophecy and support for separation of church and state. That’s changed over the last few years.

Shaena: Christian nationalism is criticized for using faith as a vehicle for authoritarian politics rather than genuine belief. What does this movement get wrong about Christian values?

Tim: Part of what I think they get wrong is the concept of the Kingdom of God — specifically, whether Christ wanted Christians to establish a kingdom here on earth. In 1975, a couple men began planning society’s Christian transformation. Lance Wallnau developed the concept of seven mountains: religion, family, education, government, media and the arts, science and technology, and business. The devil exists at the top of these mountains. Through spiritual warfare and practical application, Christians would climb these mountains and take authority over these aspects.

But we divorce the Kingdom of God and replace it with the kingdom of men. Christ clearly said, “My kingdom is not of this world.” In his book Generous Justice, Timothy Keller called the “quadrant of vulnerability” the groups of people Christ was concerned with: widows, orphans, the poor, the foreigner. Today, that includes refugees and immigrants. Today’s new lepers would be the LGBT community. The Old Testament has a “don’t touch” command because of disease, but in the New Testament Christ touched lepers.
The problem now is this grasping for power through fear and violence. True Christianity has only one weapon: love. When love becomes the motivating factor rather than power, it changes what it means to be a Christian.

Shaena: The military frames conflict with Iran as a holy war, and Christian nationalist language shows up in federal policy. How dangerous is that?

Tim: This is a direct assault on secular society, framed as a holy war. The biblical understanding among some is that we must support Israel as a nation. Not for the sake of the Israelis but to fulfill a misinterpretation of biblical prophecy about end-time events: that Israel must come back into power. We were told that Project 2025 had nothing to do with the current president, but he installed Russell Vought, the main architect of 2025. Our current administration hides behind Christian nationalism. I want the ability to be a Christian. But I also want you to have your American freedom to believe whatever you want. That is where I believe there is danger.

Shaena: How do people recognize when a message has crossed from faith-informed into Christian nationalist territory?

Tim: One tactic of Christian nationalism is to adapt the language to the audience. If you are a charismatic Christian, they are far more direct. If you’re a more liberal American Christian, they adjust accordingly. Key phrases to watch for: traditional marriage, anti-abortion, and the concept of America as a Christian nation in its founding. That signals you are dealing with something deeper than general American politics. Behind “traditional marriage” is the anti-LGBT agenda. At the local level are the trans sports debate and banning books.

My position is if you believe in traditional marriage, then have a traditional marriage. If you don’t believe in divorce, don’t get one. If you don’t want an abortion, don’t have one. America was founded on compromise, that we can all find a way to get along with each other. You hold to your beliefs, I hold to mine, and we can still be good neighbors.
