We’ve been hearing and reading about a number of emergency situations lately… wildfires, flooding, hurricanes. Some disasters are predictable, while others are more immediate.

How prepared are you and your household for emergency / disaster events that may take place here on the coast?

On September 16th, from 10:00 to 12:30 at the Firehall on Hwy 101, you can learn about three 2-bucket systems to use for water filtration, handling human waste, and hand washing. You’ll also learn how to safely source and store potable water in your home.

Come learn how you can be prepared. Register for this 2 1/2 hr. class at evcnb.org. Scroll to Events and Trainings.

See you in class!

Toyota Sienna For Sale

Submitted By: cjlayeux@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
2004 Sienna for sale. 267k miles. One owner. She has been a great Van for my family and never let me down. Her name is Bess. She still drives fine but getting a little long in the tooth. The bad: Check engine code showing misfire in a cylinder (but engine seems to run fine) Some body rust right side lower rocker. See photos. Hole in exhaust system somewhere. 3rd row left seat stuck in lowered position. Routine maintenance current. Needs plugs checked which frankly are a pain in this model but potentially is the source of the code. Usual assortment of wear and tear but interior still nice. Tires, transmission, brakes, suspension all fine. AC blows cold. Not showing her until Monday, 9/4. Located in Manzanita. Email questions or to set showing to cjlayeux@gmail.com. Clean title. $1500 cash. Thanks for looking.

Neahkahnie Water District Notice #2

Submitted By: nwdmanager@nehalemtel.net – Click to email about this post
SPECIAL NOTICE #2 – NEAHKAHNIE WATER DISTRICT

CONTINUING NEED FOR CONSERVATION

In August the flow of water from our natural springs fell further – another 10% decline. We are approaching a more serious condition and wish to remind residents and visitors about the need for water conservation.

While we’ve recently had some days with light rain, it’s important to note that these small amounts provide no increase in the flow from our springs. It takes about two months of the heavier Fall/Winter rains to create a surplus in our system.

Labor Day weekend creates additional stress on supplies, and though usage can decline afterward it’s still 8 or 10 weeks until we can expect real rain.

Please continue to conserve our resource so essential needs and firefighting capabilities are met.

> Fix known leaks, and if you think you may have a hidden leak, contact the district office for an assessment.

> Please minimize all outdoor water use and postpone car/driveway/deck washing.

> If landscape/garden watering is essential, please use a drip system or water by hand.

Have a “water aware” state of mind and remember – our natural spring system is a Neahkahnie treasure. Please help keep it healthy.

Board of Commissioners & Staff
Neahkahnie Water District.
