Yin Yoga and Sound Bath Series Starts Next Week in Manzanita!

Submitted By: aprilclarkyoga@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
Our relaxing yin yoga and sound healing series (5 weeks) is just a week away, and there are only 3 spaces left. If you are interested in joining our small group Monday nights from 5pm-6:30pm for some deep nervous system nourishment, I recommend signing up soon!

I’m only letting 6 people join this series, (plus a max of 2 drop-ins per session), so that we have plenty of space to spread out in the sweet little Yoga Roots studio in Manzanita (above Wild). The series rate is $111 ($22 per class), and drop in is $33 per class — so if you can join us for the full series it’s a pretty good discount.

Details below or on my website www AprilClarkYoga.com.

The heart of winter is a time for soft inward-reflection. Rejuvenate your nervous system, reset your energy centers, and drop into ease each week in this 5-session series on MONDAY evenings.

We’ll move through relaxing, passive yin shapes paired with sound healing via singing bowls, crystal harp, drumming and chimes. Deepen into this self-healing, energy-balancing weekly practice.

In yin yoga we spend several minutes in each shape, using gravity paired with body weight and breath to gradually expand the connective tissue (fascia and ligaments). This slowing down invites the parasympathetic nervous system to bring the body into its natural balance. Yin yoga can also improve circulation, increase range of motion, and help prevent injury.

The frequencies of sound healing interact with the energy centers of the body. Sound healing can also slow the brainwaves into a restorative state, further activating the body’s self-healing mechanisms.

These two practices paired together are a luxurious recipe to renew and rebalance the mind, body and spirit.

Note: If pricing is limiting for you, please reach out. I am open to trades and/or offering sliding scale pricing options as needed. No questions asked.

Utility shop for rent

Submitted By: jillburch2@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
I have a 1,400 square foot pull barn shop.
It has a wood stove, concrete floor, 110 & 220 electric. Currently the large sliding double doors on the one end do have about an inch gap so it’s not completely air tight. Maybe an easy fix. Not sure. I’m wondering if there is any interest for someone renting it for projects or space for hard storage. It is damp and not ok for anything that would be damaged from moisture … I can take pictures for anyone interested. Just curious if anyone has a desire or ideas for this cool space going to waste…
I’m about 3 miles out the Miami

THE FUTURE OF THE JETTY CREEK WATERSHED
A Discussion with Chuck Willer

Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 2:00 pm

St. Mary by the Sea (Parish Building)
275 S. Pacific St., Rockaway Beach, OR 97136
(online zoom also available, see below)

Doors open at 1:30 pm for light refreshments and pizza!

Coastal drinking watersheds are in peril. Recently, Jetty Creek and other coastal watersheds have experienced water shortages that are not due to lack of rain alone. Science now shows that forestry practices such as clear-cut logging and pesticides spraying can damage the quantity and quality of drinking water. Like other coastal communities, Rockaway Beach is now looking to acquire and manage its Jetty Creek watershed. To help us all understand what this entails, the NORTH COAST COMMUNITIES FOR WATERSHED PROTECTION is offering a three-part speaker series, SAFEGUARDING AND RESTORING DRINKING WATERSHEDS, supported by funding from the City of Rockaway Beach. This is the first event of the series.

You need not RSVP to attend, but it will help us plan if you do. Please go to healthywatershed.org to RSVP for in-person or online attendance. PLEASE JOIN US!

3 BILLION IN NEW TAXES FOR OREGON RESIDENTS

Submitted By: genedieken@yahoo.com – Click to email about this post
Dixie Gainer’s assertion that Oregon has the 6th highest taxes in the country is true as far as she goes. The 6th highest personal income tax.

When you calculate the total tax burden of property tax, individual income tax, sales & excise tax, Oregon falls to 31st.

And don’t forget the 5.6 billion dollar kicker going back to taxpayers this spring.

3 BILLION IN NEW TAXES FOR OREGON RESIDENTS

Submitted By: dixiegainer@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
So – inflation, property taxes increasing far above the normal rate, heating bills and everything else – the total cost of living has jumped enormously, BUT Kotek’s Housing Advisory Council Floats $3 BILLION in New Oregon Taxes.

YES 3 billion in new taxes!

Just weeks after suggesting a 3-year pause on new taxes, Governor Tina Kotek’s own Housing Production Advisory Council released new recommendations calling for more than $3 billion in new taxes. The list was exhaustive, including establishing a sales tax, increasing personal income taxes, doubling the gas tax, and more.

Can you pay more?

Will more people become homeless because this increase in taxes will push them over the edge? I keep thinking that one of these days I will be taxed out of my house.

I was thinking one morning as I like to do in the quiet of the dawn with my cup of coffee. If I were governor how would I look at my responsibility. Now I could never become governor nor do I want to but how would I look at my roll? I think I would see my job as to make sure as much as possible that every Oregon citizen would have an opportunity to thrive. That would be my job, that is how I would make decisions. I would not pass any bills, like HB 2002, from outside entities. And in a time of financial crisis I would not raise taxes at all. In many states the governors lowered what taxes that they could: Fourteen states have individual income tax rate reductions taking effect in 2024: Arkansas, Connecticut, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire (interest and dividends income only), North Carolina, Ohio, and South Carolina.

So are you just going to sit there and take it?

Gov. Kotek # 503-378-4582

The state of Oregon has the sixth highest taxes in the nation.
Many people are leaving Oregon because it is becoming unlivable – crime, murder, homeless camps in your backyard. Our Democratic legislators would like to remove the kicker. Our governor, Tina Kotek, for instance, proposed in 2018, when she was a lawmaker, to use kicker dollars to reduce the state’s unfunded liability for its egregiously generous retirement system for public employees. Kotek suggested the next year that the state keep half the kicker money and use it for transportation projects. The more you give them – the more they spend.

In 1979 Oregon had a Republican governor and that was when the Kicker tax was enacted and in 1999 it was put into the Oregon constitution. And the Democrat leaders don’t like it. I have to say I was a Democrat most my life but I finally grew up and now I am smart enough to just look at all individuals running when trying to decide who would be the best for the job. How is Oregon doing under about 14 years of Dem majority? Not so good it appears. Lots of corruption in the state capitol too but that is for another day.

Game Table (top only)

Game table. 42″ diameter. Solid Oak.
You can set it up for Chess/Checkers or remove the hardwood squares for Chinese Checkers.

Note that this is only the table top. You will need to build or buy a base separately. We set it up on a wooden box years ago as a coffee table and it worked great.

There is a crack in the top that has been repaired.

We also have chess and checker game pieces if you’re interested.

Free.
Call or text Gary if interested.

Radial snow cable chains for cars – $25

Submitted By: clean_streams_oceans@me.com – Click to email about this post
Radial tire cable chains – New – $25.00. Cash.

These are new cable chain for cars & light trucks. I got them for my Corolla, but I no longer have the car.

These have never been used. They are still in their original carrying case, still wrapped in the plastic they came in.

Their model is ‘SC1026’. You can look in the “Peerless Tire Chain Finder” and search for the part number SC1026. That will take you to a page that tells what tires these fit. They include: 14″ and 15″ tires, sizes 185/60 or 185/65, 175/65-15, as well as 185/55-16 and 195/50-16.

If you do a general search for that model number you will see them available through various outlets, mostly in the $50 range.

Thank you for looking!

Garry is recognized as the leading Francis Drake historian on the west coast and will be at the library to answer all questions concerning why Francis Drake landed in Nehalem Bay in the summer of 1579, and relate way Captain Drake never landed in any other theorized bay, including California.

Where: North Tillamook Library, Laneda Ave, Manzanita

Copies of Garry Gitzen’s “Francis Drake in Nehalem Bay 1579, Setting the Historical Record Straight are available at Tillamook County libraries.

To increase understanding of what could be at risk without future planning and adaptation, helping Bay communities, governments, and businesses to drive action.
