Memorial Service for Anne Osborn Coopersmith

Submitted By: celeste.deveney@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
Anne Osborn Coopersmith passed away early on the morning of December 27, 2023. She was 79 years old and a most gentle soul with a friendly attitude and a smile for everyone she met. Anne loved to sing. She was active in the Cannon Beach Chorus for many years as well as her church choir at Nehalem Bay United Methodist. She was also a certified recycler and worked at Cart-M for several years and was the recycler at the church. She was a long-time volunteer in the Nehalem Bay Community Services food pantry (located in NBUMC). In her working years she was a librarian in California and moved to Nehalem when she retired. Her happy smile and great attitude will be missed around town. Anne is survived by her husband of seventeen years, John Coopersmith and cousins Stan and Joanna Jones.
A memorial service for Anne will be held at the Nehalem Bay United Methodist Church (36050 10th Street, Nehalem) at 1 pm this coming Saturday, January 27. Refreshments will follow.
Donations in her name may be made to the Canon Beach Chorus at PO Box 725, Canon Beach, OR, 97110; the CHILD program (providing school supplies and Christmas gifts to local children) care of Nehalem Bay United Methodist Church (note CHILD in the memo line); or to the Nehalem Bay United Methodist Church Building Fund (note NBUMC Building Fund in memo line.) The latter donations may be dropped off at the church, or mailed to NBUMC at 36050 10th Street, Nehalem, 97131.)

Saving the country is beyond my reach, but just maybe we can find a way for us in this small community to at least feel a little better about each other. With that in mind, I’m starting an “On a Tuesday”* virtual coffee meeting on zoom to talk about politics and problems. I don’t want to change anybody’s mind, I just want to make talking to each other a little easier.
Here’s the zoom invitation for a get-together that will happen each Tuesday at 9AM. us06web.zoom.us/j/84103160731?pwd=dDjC6hUH1NzQb4biwrQxYeUK46l8Xz.1 For those who find the morning hour impossible, there will also be a 7PM meeting each Tuesday and here is the invitation for that one , us06web.zoom.us/j/86525693062?pwd=QRP6GiOQ4bK4NYutb5cIDgtLiv1e6G.1
I’ll be the host and all I will require is civility and that no one speaks for more than 5 minutes as a stretch. As the host, I will have the ability to mute or remove disruptive influences.
If zoom is not your thing, discussion is always welcome at codger817@gmail.com.
* “On a Tuesday” is homage to a pivotal scene in the wonderful movie “Shirley Valentine” from 1989. It’s available at Tillamook Public Library and Kanopy and other streaming services.
