Defending Integrity, Fairness In Women’s Sports

Submitted By: dixiegainer@icloud.com – Click to email about this post
Earlier this month in Oregon, House Republicans took decisive action to protect the integrity of women’s sports, locker rooms, and bathrooms. House Bill 2037, designed to ensure that only females compete in women’s athletics and have access to intimate spaces, was brought to a vote. Despite heartfelt testimonies from young female athletes advocating for fairness, the bill was unfortunately defeated along party lines, with every Democrat Legislator opposing the bill.
The battle for fairness in women’s sports is far from over. Female athletes deserve a level playing field—one where their hard work, dedication, and dreams are honored. It is unacceptable for girls and women to be forced into unfair competitions or uncomfortable situations in their own locker rooms.
While the vote was disappointing, House Republicans remain committed to defending the rights of female athletes and ensuring that girls have the opportunity to compete in a fair and protected environment. We will continue this fight—for fairness, for opportunity, and for the future of women’s sports.
Honoring Courageous Women. I had the honor of welcoming Reese Eckard, Maddie Eichen, and their moms to the Capitol. Reese, an accomplished athlete at Sherwood High School and second oldest of 7, has been high jumping since 5th grade and placed 4th at the Oregon State track and field championships last week. Reese is also one of the brave young women quietly, confidently, and respectfully taking a stand for fairness in women’s sports. At the championships, she refused to stand on the podium with a male athlete who unfairly competed with females.
Reese, thank you for your courage, for standing up for the truth and Title IX, the federal law meant to protect you from this discrimination. I understand you’re stepping up to ensure your two younger sisters have their rightful chance to compete fairly in sports. I commend you for your stand for fairness in women’s sports. Thank you for giving me the honor of recognizing you!

Lost Cat Seen in Falcon Cove (Angora Peak trail)

Submitted By: jgulaskey@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
Today Monday June 16 a very friendly young tuxedo cat with yellow eyes followed hikers on the logging roads on the east side of 101 in Falcon Cove (leading up to the Angora Peak trail gate).

I couldn’t rescue it at the time, but it was super eager to follow people. If someone is looking for this cat I could provide more info.

A HEARTFELT THANK YOU FROM THE RIVERBEND PLAYERS DIRECTOR’S CHAIR

Submitted By: fsquillo@riverbendplayers.org – Click to email about this post

To the incredible Riverbend Community,
As the curtain closes on our run of SORDID LIVES, I wanted to take a moment, both as the director of this hilarious and heartfelt production and as the president of Riverbend Players, to express our deepest gratitude.
Your support has been nothing short of phenomenal, and you’ve helped us create some truly memorable milestones!
Your enthusiasm blew us away.
Our opening night for SORDID LIVES was the biggest in Riverbend Players history!
The energy in the theater was electric, and it set the tone for an incredible run.
This show asked a lot of us: to laugh, to cry, to confront the messiness of life with open hearts and open minds.
You embraced it all. Your laughter, your applause, and your kind words lifted our cast and crew every single night.
And thanks to all of you, SORDID LIVES is now the third most attended play of all time for Riverbend Players, right behind our beloved A CHRISTMAS STORY and the uproarious THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG.
That’s an achievement we couldn’t have dreamed of without your incredible turnout.
The success of SORDID LIVES is a testament to the power of our community and your unwavering commitment to the arts.
From the bottom of my heart, and on behalf of the entire cast, crew, and board of Riverbend Players Community Theater, thank you!
We can’t wait to see you at our next production!

Vintage Edwardian 1900s Engagement Ring

Submitted By: sgbrooksmiller@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
1900s Edwardian Vintage Engagement Ring

12k European Gold Miner’s Cut (hand cut and one of a kind), est. 1/3 ct. (although due to height, it may be more – it is not certified). Sits in a high-profile position with ornate filigree design. The ring is size 6 and platinum-dipped. The center stone is round in a detailed square setting, which highlights and accentuates the size, dimension, and sparkle..

This style ring is known as a “candlelight ring.” The Miner’s Cut is designed to catch and enhance low light. The photos do not do it justice; it is truly gorgeous. The European gold was dipped in platinum in the mid-70s and remains in pristine condition. It was professionally cleaned and inspected in May of 2025. It has been in my family since the early 1900s. Price is $3500 OBO. Serious inquiries only, meet up and exchange in a secure location. For those of you who like a back story, please read below.

As I mentioned, this ring has been in my family for over one hundred years. I’m also going to say the quiet part out loud and let you know this diamond is chock-full of conflict because “lab-created” didn’t exist back then.

My kin hails from West Virginia, and it was given to my maternal great-aunt in the 1920s by her betrothed ,who subsequently left her at the altar. Details are scarce because (I’m pretty sure) the entire story is considered a “skeleton,” one I was not privy to before my mother passed away. What I do know is that shortly thereafter, my great-aunt was committed to a mental institution and retained residency there off and on until her death (more than likely, just for being a “sad, cantankerous” woman, as was tradition at the time).

The ring’s history for the next 20 years is omitted from the annals; my theory is that it was recapitulating its sorcery after absorbing the calamity it bestowed upon my great-aunt. My maternal grandmother, her niece, did not wear it while married to my grandfather, although she did pass away relatively young. Bequeathed to my mother in 1960, she went against the mohair grain of 70s fashion trends and opted to wear this as her engagement ring in 1971. Alas, unknowingly, once it had a taste for relationship destruction, it could not lie dormant for long. We can blame young, ephemeral love, but I know the truth. Perhaps not fully understanding the ring’s potency, or perhaps blinded by extraneous and confounding variables, she gave it one more shot in 1978. I’m sure you can extrapolate what happened. Because it was her favorite marriage, although not the one that produced me, I won’t besmirch the memory.

Its sole purpose over the last 5 decades was to enhance my dress-up and play experience with my mom’s vintage wears, of which I still lovingly partake. A quick reminder that “you don’t stop playing because you grow old, you grow old because you stop playing,” and I advise that you throw on a fancy dress or costume as often as you can.

My mother passed away in 2013, and I’m her only child. I’m also a (social) scientist, and part of the reason I’m selling this is because I’m in my second year of grad school, and funds are very tight. I understand that correlation does not equal causation, and I also understand the law of averages. Harkening to my mother’s bohemian spirit, I, too, did not see the point of my partner spending 3 months’ salary on a ring when I had this stunning heirloom in storage. I rolled my eyes at the childhood talks of legends of curses and donned it in January 2024 after my Christmas engagement. But as I sit here and contemplate my failed engagement, generational curses, and how best to break the cycle for my progeny, while also attaining my master’s degree, the answer is clear: my loss is your gain.

Who should buy this ring:
– Collector
– Vintage Enthusiast
– Someone being pressured to propose who wants to let the powers that be make the decision for them
– Someone who wants to propose with a STUNNER of a ring and impress their betrothed’s whole family and friend group
– Grown-up Goth Girl
– 25+ Anniversary Gift

Who should NOT buy this ring:
-Anyone without cash or verified funds on hand
-Anyone asking to pay less than the listed price without an amazing offer
-Anyone asking to meet up in a private location or using someone else’s digital banking information
– Anyone with possible kin in Elkins, West Virginia, on the “Gilbert” side (just trying to protect you)

Obama: sensible immigration

Submitted By: bigbeach@gmx.com – Click to email about this post
Historic footage of Obama talking about folks illegally crossing our border and living here illegally:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z5oKlKeXWLQ

What happened to this sensibility during the last four years of unprecedented illegal immigration surging across our border?

Here is Biden ENCOURAGING folks to ILLEGALLY surge across our border. I say this was an impeachable offense:, and a HUGE reason Trump won:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rYwLYMPLYbo

And then BIden’s denial: (note WH reporter pool, six-feet apart and wearing masks. We now know that was a psyop from the CDC/Big Farma/Big Banks, not science.)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_RFsOWnnCeE

And now we have all this nasty deportation stuff that most of us KNEW WAS GONNA HAPPEN. THE IMMIGRANTS ARE GUINEA PIGS. THERE WAS NO COMPASSION INVOLVED WHEN THE BIDEN ADMIN LET THEM VIOLATE OUR BORDER! ENCOURAGED THEM TO “SURGE THE BORDER” EVEN. THE ELITE DEMS WORK WITH THEIR ELITE GOP FRIENDS TO DO THE BIDDING OF THE CIA-crowd, who in turn do the bidding of the billionaire class/bankers; THEY COULD CARE LESS ABOUT THE MIGRANTS. THEY ARE PAWNS TO THEM!

And here is long-form on how Biden’s Homeland security dept., American NGOs, and Israeli NGOs worked to funnel millions of illegals through the treacherous jungle known as The Darien Gap in Panama and then illegally into America:

rumble.com/v4aiwyl-the-210th-evolutionary-lens-with-bret-weinstein-and-heather-heying.html

SUPER DUPER IMPORTANT BONUS!!!!!!!!!!!!

And here is another angle on why the billionaires opened our borders as part of their divide and conquer operation (which is very much working). Other than the depressed wages that benefit the Koch Bros. types (chicken farms, etc.), this seems to be at the core of this issue for the super elite:

rumble.com/v6ukgjd-trumps-ice-crackdowns-are-a-deep-state-psyop.html?e9s=src_v1_ucp

Wherever one stands on the issue, it must be admitted that if we had our borders CLOSED like an actual sovereign country, if we only allowed legal immigration as per the law, we wouldn’t be in this nasty mess.

2025 Migratory Bird Day Celebration

Submitted By: maijahecht@nehalemtrust.org – Click to email about this post
The Lower Nehalem watershed is full of bird-lovers, but how do we make our community and towns beloved by birds? These ‘Shared Spaces’ are the focus of 2025’s Migratory Bird Day Celebration.
Gather at Alder Creek Farm on Sunday, May 25th for a day of guided bird walks, ‘Big Sit’ observation station, kid’s activities and learning opportunities!

Together, we’ll identify challenges birds face in our own community and consider how to make the spaces we share with birds safer and more welcoming. There will be no shortage of fun for bird enthusiasts of all ages at this family-friendly event. Bring binoculars or borrow a pair of ours! No prior birding experience is necessary.

Guided bird walks will depart from the farm. One will begin at 10AM, and another at 11:30AM, following two route options: one on flat terrain and one that traverses up a medium slope to the upper riparian areas above Alder Creek.

If exploring over uneven ground isn’t your thing, join us at our ‘Big Sit’ station. Or visit the interpretive tables hosted by Hoffman Center for the Arts, Oregon Parks & Recreation, Seven Capes Bird Alliance, Haystack Rock Awareness Program (HRAP), Bird Alliance of Oregon, and the Wildlife Center of the North Coast.

Volunteers Needed For The Manzanita Open May 16, 17, 18

Submitted By: manzanitaopen@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
Every year in May, our non-profit organization, The Eugene Schmuck Foundation hosts The Manzanita Open golf tournament to raise money for our local communities. The event started in the 1990’s, but in 1997, local philanthropist Eugene Schmuck helped transition the tournament to ESF. This move assured that the funds raised stay right here, in the North Tillamook County area. Since taking over, we have given away over 1.8 million dollars to many, many wonderful organizations that help others, to our schools, and through scholarships for graduating senior and alumni.

Our 2025 event will be May 16, 17, and 18th with lots of fun golfing, hanging out by the burger tent, games, door prizes, and raffles. Which is where you come in!

We need volunteers to help us put on the event. We are looking for volunteers for the following times and events. If you want to enjoy the great outdoors and support a worthy cause we would love to hear from you. Please email manzanitaopen@gmail.com with the event(s) and time(s) when you can help.
