What We Love

A friend’s request:

What We Love

When all our notions are quiet,

the stories and superstitions seen,

                 a smile welcomes the unknown.

               And sometimes, we will awaken,

rise in darkness, gladly await

the arriving light. We sense clearly

how joy and sorrow can diffuse

on a timeless palette,

bright notes for songs that lift

our circles. Each word,

               a whale breaking the surface,

                 spray of an offshore wind,

tracks of a winged migration.

  Enough has been known

to give away what we love.

United Paws’ Kittens River & Grant

United Paws’ Kittens River & Grant
Grant is a handsome tabby who sports a distinctive golden-and-brown bullseye coat. Grant comes running for attention when humans enter his orbit. He loves wrestling with his rescue buddy, River, and hasn’t met a toy he doesn’t like! Grant loves to compete with River for his foster’s love and attention. He even rolls over on his back so she can stroke his beautiful golden belly!
River has beautiful silver-grey stripes and entrancing bluish eyes that look like deep pools of celadon. When he wants to spend time with you, he’ll put his paws on your chest while moving in for kisses. River is interested in exploring new places and playing with other kittens and cats. He gets very excited when he learns about a new toy that grabs his attention, especially when his buddy Grant is interested in the same toy. These two kittens are buddies; they peacefully sleep together and play together. They would make a great pair to adopt but will also do fine individually.
A kind-hearted lady in a trailer park where Grant and River were born, was feeding about ten abandoned kittens and cats. She reached out to United Paws and volunteers rescued four of the kittens, including Grant and River. Now, Grant and River are ready for loving forever homes. Read more on United Paws’ website about kittens and cats available for adoption. Fill out an adoption application, get pre-approved for adoption, and we can arrange a “Meet & Greet” for you. For more adoption info, you can also email United Paws at unitedpawsapps@gmail.com or call United Paws at 503-842-5663.

Helping Our Community

Submitted By: pattyrinehart@nehalemtel.net – Click to email about this post
Thank you to all who have given food, money, your time, and presents to our North Tillamook County Non-Profits. Makes you feel good to help others. Just a reminder to those of you who want to help our community, I’ll mention names and addresses again. I know getting out for some of us is hard, but with these addresses you can make life easy and send a check. Thanks for being a good neighbor!

We are starting up in the north end of Tillamook County today. You remember Nehalem Bay Community Services (NBCS) is the organization which was run under the umbrella of the Nehalem Bay United Methodist Church. It includes Nehalem Senior Lunches, CHILD Program, and the Nehalem Bay Food Pantry. You may note on your check if you want your donation to go to just one of these programs or split between all three. The CHILD Program is currently collecting items for children’s Christmas presents. New clothing and new toys for kids are being collected at the Methodist Church in Nehalem. You will find tags locally at Nehalem Lumber, Bayway Tavern, Manzanita Grocery & Deli (who also has a donation jar), the U.S. Bank and First Security Bank.

The North County Food Bank (NCFB) is in Wheeler. NCFB distributes food and clothing on Tuesdays. If you have extra canned foods or gently used and warm clothing for both adults and children, this is a good place to leave them. They will be busy this next week as they are distributing Thanksgiving dinners to people. To support them year around it is good to send them what you can each month. The address is NCFB, PO Box 162, Wheeler, Oregon 97147.

Rockaway Beach Lions Club provides a basket of food to families and seniors at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Their contact information is Rockaway Beach Lions, PO Box 611, Rockaway Beach, Oregon 97136.

Meals for Seniors, also in Rockaway Beach, has a meal site and delivers food to people who cannot make it to the site. Donations to this organization can be made to Meals for Seniors, Inc., PO Box 852, Rockaway Beach, Oregon 97136.
