Join us this Thursday, for a dance centered on the theme RELEASE.
Our dance is a welcoming space to shake off anything that no longer serves you, and step into the new year a little lighter.
The music will follow a natural arc – creating room for movement, play, expression, and letting go. There’s no right way to dance and nothing to figure out, just an invitation to come as you are, move freely, and enjoy being in your body in community.
We’ll close the evening with a gentle sound healing – offering a moment to settle, integrate, and land together after the dance.
For anyone who’d like to continue the reset, the Starseed Sauna will be open shortly after dance as an optional offering – a warm, grounding way to cleanse the body and welcome what’s next.
Come dance, have fun, and move into the new year with renewed vigor.
Looking forward to sharing the floor with you.
Warmly,
Neil

This month our guest speaker is Katja Biesanz. She is a Master Gardener who is coming to share her vast knowledge of botanical Latin which is used globally for the scientific naming and descriptions of plants. The international language provides plant identification, color or origin and helps us understand the plant’s features and characteristics. We hope you can join us for a new year of fun and learning!
The Nehalem Bay Garden Club will be 76 years young next spring! A very active group of 30 plus members is keeping this vibrant group going and the Club is always open to new members. Hopefully our new time will make the meetings available to more folks. So, if gardening is in your blood, or an interest that you would like to explore, please consider checking them out. No gardening experience is required, only an interest in learning, playing in dirt and hanging out with some pretty cool people!
The current mission of Nehalem Bay Garden Club is “To cultivate knowledge and love of gardening through educational programs and activities; to aid in the protection of the environment, native plants and wildlife; and to support public service through garden related organizations and volunteer opportunities.” The Club Objective from the 1978/79 yearbook was “To stimulate the knowledge and love for gardening, to aid in the protection of native trees, plants and birds.” So the legacy continues.
Nehalem Bay Garden Club’s big project is an annual plant sale Mother’s Day weekend. The 2026 sale will be Saturday, May 9th at the same location as the past few years at the junction of N Fork Road and Highway 53 in Nehalem. Please save the date! Going back to old roots, the 2026 sale will only be on Saturday.
The months leading up to the sale, starting in late January are busy ones, mainly starting seeds and potting up plants. Since many hands make light work, anyone interested in helping is very welcome. The Club meets nearly every week getting hands dirty and laughing a lot as the work is done. Please email barbaraandchuck@nehalemtel.net if you would like to know more about these work/play parties or about the Garden Club.
Proceeds from the annual plant sale are given to local organizations that meet the mission of the Club. We have been donating to the community for over 20 years. Since 2020 alone the Club has awarded grants totaling nearly $18,000. Grant recipients include Alder Creek Farm, Food Roots, Hoffman Garden, Tillamook Early Learning Center, Wheeler Waterfront Park and Nehalem Bay Health Center and Pharmacy. During the pandemic we wanted to help with food security and included Nehalem Bay United Methodist Church for their Senior Lunches and Food Pantry and North County Food Bank.
The 1978/79 yearbook also had a Conservation Pledge.
“I give my
Pledge as an American to save
And Faithfully to defend from Waste the natural resources of
My Country – its Forests, Waters
And Wildlife.”
Words to live by today.

This month’s story is Knight Owl by Christopher Denise. Owl has always dreamed of being a knight. Children will hear how Owl’s wish comes true and the problem he faces once he is keeping watch over the castle. Beautiful illustrations and Owl’s adventure will be sure to captivate children and adults alike. The story will be accompanied by trumpet player, Scott Wagner. Afterwards preschoolers will learn more about the trumpet and take part in making their own music with provided instruments.
The free readings for children ages 2 to 5 are planned monthly in partnership between North Oregon Coast Symphony, North Tillamook Library in Manzanita, and Seaside Library. For more information visit North Oregon Coast Symphony’s website at www.nocsymphony.org.

AGAINST THE CURRENT: FATHER TOM ODDO AND THE NEW AMERICAN CATHOLIC covers the In the wake of Stonewall and the Second Vatican Council. Father Oddo paved the way for those seeking a space where faith and identity could coexist. He co-founded DignityUSA at just 29 years old, positioning himself as a key figure in the fight for civil rights. By 38, he became President of the University of Portland, a rising academic star poised to transform higher education.
A tragic car accident cut his life short at 45, but his story and his legacy continue to impact the course of the Church today.
In Against the Current, Tyler Bieber presents a compelling biography based on intimate interviews, personal archives, and never-before-seen documents. The book explores encounters with celebrities, politicians, and Pope John Paul II while diving into themes of hope, resilience, and loss. It reveals a forgotten chapter of American history, a story of courage within the confines of tradition, and a meditation on redemption, identity, and the future of Catholicism.
