The Hope Chest began in 1998 and is a 501C3. We are thankful for the continued community support, because without you we wouldn’t be able to give back to the community to the extent that we do. It all comes full circle – you donate to the shop, our volunteer team sorts and prepares items to be sold, we resell your donations, and give the proceeds back to local community organizations. This cycle keeps usable items out of the landfill and in turn provides the community with affordably priced clothing and household items to buy through the shop.
The NEHALEM store is open Wednesday – Saturday 12:00-4:00 pm and accepts donations Wednesday – Friday only. The ROCKAWAY store is open Thursday – Saturday 10:00-4:00 pm and accepts donations Friday and Saturday only.
A *friendly reminder* to bring all holiday decoration donations in PRIOR to the holiday. This goes for every holiday, but especially Christmas as these decorations are our largest of the holiday donations. With the Nehalem store relocating sometime in the future, we do not plan to move Christmas decorations with us to our new location since available storage space is unknown.
Please note that the Nehalem location is still OPEN and accepting donations and will continue to remain open until the property sells. Any updates to our new location will be posted here on the BBQ and our Facebook page.
In December 2022, we look forward to celebrating our achievement of giving *Two Million dollars* back to our local community. These monies are donated to various organizations in our local area, such as North County Food Bank, Meals For Seniors, Hospice, Faith in Action and several more. This is only possible because of our community, volunteers, and those who shop with us. THANK YOU!!
Please remember that YOUR Hope Chest needs YOUR help finding a new home! Contact DeeAnn Grimes, our store manager, at 503-858-2092 with any leads.
Happy Holidays and thank you for your continuing support and in your efforts for finding us a new home. As always, we look forward to seeing you in the shop and accepting more of your donations!
Remember to shop local this holiday season. In supporting local small businesses we support each other and our shared community.

She will be here Friday Dec. 2nd and Saturday Dec. 3rd.
The winter is definitely a good season to take extra good care of your body.

We are interested in the community’s feedback on whether the current hours of operation at the Rinehart Clinic and Pharmacy meet the needs of our patients and community members. During the pandemic, we reduced our hours slightly in response to the reduced number of people visiting the clinic and pharmacy.
If you are a patient at Rinehart Clinic and/or if you visit Rinehart Pharmacy (or are a potential patient or customer), we would appreciate your input on the community survey linked below. The survey should take 3-4 minutes to complete and is completely anonymous.

Blanche: Nora and Laurie’s mother; who have all came to live under the same roof since the passing of her husband
Jack: 45ish: The patriarch of the family who works very hard to support his family

Instructors are experienced Master Gardener volunteers. In addition to classroom instruction, hands-on gardening labs will be conducted at the Learning Garden, Tillamook County Fairgrounds.
Students will learn basic botany, entomology and plant diseases. The course covers methods of sustainable gardening and growing vegetables, berries, fruit trees, ornamentals and lawns. It also covers soil management and plant nutrition directed at the local bioregion. Participants learn how to diagnose plant problems and find research-based solutions.
After the class is completed, students donate 40 hours of volunteer time working in the office under the supervision of a certified Master Gardener answering gardening questions from the public. Volunteer hours can also be earned by working in the Learning Garden, at farmers market plant clinics, in community gardens and on other Master Gardener activities. All volunteer experiences are selected to help you learn and connect with the community.
Cost of the course is $150, which includes the Sustainable Gardening Handbook. Scholarships are available. Contact Sarah Ostermiller at sarah.ostermiller@oregonstate.edu for more information.
Apply on-line: beav.es/5Ao. Applications Close December 16, 2022. Class Schedules and full descriptions are available online at www.tillamookmastergardenrs.com, our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/tillamookmastergardeners or the OSU Extension Office, 4506 Third Street, 503-842-3433.

Manzanita OR: In celebration of Small Business Saturday (aka Support Local Saturday) 15 Oregon coast makers have organized a Pop Up Gift Fair in downtown Manzanita on November 26th. “We wanted to be a part of the big holiday shopping weekend” said organizer and local tea maker Ginger Edwards of North Fork 53 Communitea. “Most of us work from our farms or home studios so it’s not as easy for people to find us or the things we make after the summer farmers markets end”.
Shoppers will find everything from hand thrown pottery from Unearth Studio of Nehalem to small batch canned pickles and pepper infused jams from Gingifer’s Jams to naturally dyed indigo scarves from DreamBird Studios in Astoria. Other goods include Stained glass art, crystal jewelry, tea and cocoas, kelp clay body products, gem essence sprays and poetry books, stationary and cards and much much more.

We’re seeking a few more artists and crafters for our upcoming Holiday Bazaar. (See poster for dates and details.)
We’re especially looking to add some folks who might offer something like… tea/coffee/edible things… natural cleaners would also be a cool addition.
But really, we’re all ears–let us know what you might like to sell/exhibit, and we’ll see if it’s a fit.
Just so you know: artists/exhibitors do not need to be present at the Bazaar. Simply drop off your work and we handle all sales. (You keep 75% of the proceeds; there’s no cost/risk to exhibiting.)
If you have any questions, let us know. Otherwise, share with your artist/crafter friends!
Thanks,
-The Tolovana Arts Colony
