Riverbend Players Needs Volunteers

Riverbend Players and NCRD are have to relocate their storage containers to make room for the pool construction. We need able-bodied volunteers this Wednesday morning starting at 10AM till around 1 PM to help move the contents of the containers into a U-Haul truck. We will all meet at the far end of the NCRD parking lot near the storage containers.

We will need to unload the U-Haul an re-store the items into the containers that will have been moved to Champ Ball Field around 1pm- 4pm. Thursday.

We had a great Town Hall session on Sunday, 5/23 at the NCRD Performing Arts Center. Thanks to all those that attended and for your great questions.

Gail Nelson, CEO, and Rich Silverman, Clinical Pharmacist at The Nehalem Bay Health Center & Pharmacy and Marc Johnson, chair of the YES For Local health Care committee talked about the importance of the bond measure and how it will improve services at the Clinic, renewal of the care center and preparations for employee housing.

Hi BBQ land!!

I’ve received quite a few emails over the weekend and I just want to say how thankful and honored I am to have your support!
A lot of people are wondering where my signs are and I’m happy to say they are coming! I was able to grab a few older campaign signs from a former local candidate and have been working on them all weekend!! Keep an eye out and let me know if you’d like a sign for your yard or business. I’m happy to drop it off and pick it up right after the 16th.

Hello. My name is Mary Leverette and I am an avid birder.
The birding year in Tillamook County is full of beautiful birds — some 450 species of birds have been sighted along our coastline — and we are fortunate to have great places to watch them! Some of my favorite winter visitors are Varied Thrushes and Chestnut-backed Chickadees. Both of these birds visit my feeder tray, starting usually in mid-October and stay until April.
I love chatting about birds and would love to share my knowledge with any bird enthusiasts or curious observers.
I am also a novice bee keeper.
In Spring 2022, I took a leap of faith and started keeping honey bees. This is something I have thought about doing for decades. I saw an advertisement on the outside bulletin board at the Tillamook Farm Store with a date for a ‘introduction to beekeeping’ group. I spent one Saturday morning at a class sponsored by the Tillamook Beekeepers Association (TBA) and came away hooked! Let’s learn together!
I am also a candidate for Tillamook County Transportation District in the upcoming election. I want to hear suggestions, concerns, wishes, anything you wish to offer. As an elected representative my job will be to carry your message and fulfill on the promise of the district that your tax dollars pay for. I am a firm believer in collaboration.
Like the bees, and the birds, and all of nature, we will come up with the most elegant solutions when we work together.
Please join me the Saturday, April 29th at 10am at the Roost in Wheeler. I’ll just be hanging out for an hour having some coffee and hoping you’ll stop by for a chat.

Contributing to peace and the celebration of life…River Community Meditation meets every Wednesday at 6 p.m.. As a matter of principle there is no cost, ever. We share silent meditation, what is important to us, and often read together from inspirational teachers. Our meeting facilitation is shared week to week. All faith traditions are welcomed to experience the wisdom and beauty of buddhist inspired practice and how that can further strengthen our lives and community. We meet every Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the sanctuary at St Catherine’s church near the Hope Chest between Manzanita and Nehalem.

Fellow North Tillamook County Citizens:

Please be sure and vote in this upcoming election. There are many people running for office and we need their leadership and support for our shared programs. NCRD is a valued public facility that helps us improve our health and quality of life.

I am voting for Constance Shimek as I have known her for over a decade and have been continuously impressed by her commitment to her community.

Constance is active in a number of community projects and programs. As the President of the Nehalem Bay Garden Club she works to provide funding to our community through club grants, brings people together to learn about plants, and to develop community and amaraderie. She always exhibits a desire to contribute her problem solving skills to the task at hand and finds ways to address the needs of the community. Her willingness to help in many projects and programs has created value for our three villages, as well as for Tillamook County.

Constance has my vote, as I know she is a person who has the community’s best interests in mind. She listens to input and makes decisions based on the input from her constituents.

I encourage my fellow citizens to vote for Constance for NCRD Board Representative.

I am a retired nurse and clinical nursing specialist. Because I am concerned about our community’s health care, I have been attending the Nehalem Bay Health District (NBHD) Board meetings for the past 12 years. The changes that have occurred due to the hard work of the Nehalem Bay Health District Board under the leadership of Marc Johnson are awesome and inspiring.
The Health District has gone from being a land lord, managing rentals, to being a driving force advocating for better health care for our community. We recently lost two local skilled care facilities for seniors. I never thought I would see the day that the quality of care at the Nehalem Valley Care Center would improve. But it has! A needs assessment was performed, a new management company found, staff hired, and strong is oversight provided by the NBHD Board. I never thought anyone would have the foresight or be bold enough to try to renovate the Nehalem Valley Care Center, let alone help the Nehalem Bay Health Center and Pharmacy (formerly Rinehart Clinic and Pharmacy) get a new building. (Vote YES for local Health Care!) All of this extradorinaiy planning and foresight has occurred due to strong performance of the NBHD Board under the formidable leadership and drive of Marc Johnson. I strongly encourage you to vote for Marc Johnson for the NBHD Board in this upcoming election. His track record is outstanding and we could not do better.

Last “pop-up” of the month this very TUESDAY (April 25th) in WHEELER (notice the picture) from at least 12-4 pm. On hand will be the best family farm real Vermont maple syrup (I”m doing refills again – pints, quarts, half-gallons and gallons) DELICIOUS bee pollen to shore up your system – and three separate collections of wildflower honey which ought to bring some resistance to the upcoming allergy season. There will be a LIMITED amount of spectacular Willamette Valley Meadowfoam honey (it was a small crop last year) and full gallons of organic apple-cider vinegar.
