Great for private showering in a campsite, or use it with a pee-chair for a different kind of privacy….

This has sand bags to hold it in place and a spot to hang a roll of toilet paper. So handy!

Asking $35. Was $45 new.

World Labyrinth Day Sunday 5/6 – 8am at Neahkahnie Beach

Submitted By: centerpoint.healing.arts@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
Dear BBQ friends,
Sand Spiral Labyrinth Walk this Sunday 5/7 at Neahkahnie Beach – free community gathering.
– 7:30am Meditation/ 8am Labyrinth Walk or walk anytime you like before the tide sweeps it away!
– Slow down, breathe deep and connect with the awesome beauty of Neahkahnie Mt and Ocean.
Folks have been asking me ‘Why Labyrinth walks?’ Well, I have practiced and guided Walking Meditation for decades as a Yoga Therapist as a way to cultivate present moment awareness, to ‘be’ peacefully with Nature. Then when I was part of the Intensive Cardiac Rehab program at Silverton Hospital OR, I guided Meditation Walks for patients and staff through a classic Labyrinth design on canvas that could be rolled out indoors or at beautiful outdoor destinations like Silver Falls State Park and the Oregon Gardens. When I transplanted to the Oregon Coast, the little kid in me found a magical combination of ‘all of the above’ practices in drawing spiral labyrinths in the sand. I take my rake and trace a spiral walking path. Hope you can come by on Sunday morning and walk with me for World Labyrinth Day. Let’s be part of a rolling wave of peace around the globe.

Teacher’s Union Head

Submitted By: andynorris21@yahoo.com – Click to email about this post
This is the woman most-responsible for destroying the lives of millions of children while extorting them: she told children to shoot Big Tech’s new junk (that they never needed) so they could go back to school again. (link below)
How utterly shameful.
And she’s a teacher’s union president??? How did a child-abuser end up in that position?
Children barely get symptoms from SARS-CoV-2. I (and many many others) knew this from Day One. And history has already proven me/us correct. The mild, flu-like infection wasn’t the problem for the children.
What was devastating to the children, however, were the shutdowns and the sad-as-hell ‘remote learning’.
In fact, the school shutdowns did NOTHING to stop the spread of SARS or reduce hospitalizations, and likely made the children SICKER and more apt to contract a SARS infection.
“Shoot the vax kiddos, then we’ll let you go back to school.”
Extorting children is evil and shameful.
That the school closures would help children was always a hysterical lie from the ‘vax’ pushing criminals at Mode RNA, Pfizer, WHO, the CDC.
We have several such hysterical minds in our midst, and let’s keep them away from our children, shall we?
Here is one of the biggest child-abusers in American history, Randi Wiengarten. She is currently going around the talk show circuit claiming the horrendous and torturous school shutdowns, and the resultant suicides, drug abuse, and at-home child abuse were NOT her fault!!!!!
You wish honey. But we know what you did, we remember you!
Yes Randi, you are responsible for the massive suffering of millions of children and here is the proof you shameless liar:

Poet, artist and author Jessica Mehta will discuss her writings and read her poetry at the Cannon Beach Library at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 13.
This is a free, hybrid event; attend the event at the library or watch online: www.cannonbeachlibrary.org.
The award-winning interdisciplinary poet, artist and author is hosted by the library’s NW Authors Series.
The Oregon author of 15 books, Mehta will discuss “Decolonization on a Global Scale.” Her works have been described as organic, powerful and vulnerable. Space, place and ancestry are driving factors in her work.
Mehta has undertaken poetry and artist residencies around the globe, including the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust in Stratford-Upon-Avon and the Crazy Horse Memorial and museum in South Dakota. Her work has been featured at galleries and exhibitions in Washington DC, Sweden and New Mexico. She also was a Fulbright Senior Scholar.
“My goal as a person and an artist is to inform, create conversations and in many cases to educate—particularly non-indigenous audiences,” says Mehta, a citizen of the Cherokee Nation. “The key word here is ‘goal,’ not ‘responsibility.’”
“The emotional, mental, spiritual and oftentimes physical labor of educating non-indigenous audiences is not for everyone. It is a gift some of us offer when, where and how we can. It is not a requirement of any Native person.”

Manzanita Lofts LUBA and ORCA

Submitted By: BarefeetinthePNW@outlook.com – Click to email about this post
The developer of the Manzanita Lofts project went to LUBA February 27th, 2023 (Land Use Board of Appeals) which was created to simplify the appeal process, speed resolution of land use disputes, and provide consistent interpretation of state and local land use laws. The Planning Commission of Manzanita denied his application for a development of a a 34-unit complex between Classic Street and Dorcas Lane. The future hotel is planned to be adjacent to the north-east end of the Manzanita Links golf course. This hotel would face the green of the golf course’s Signature Hole #5.

Below is information from ORCA(Oregon Coast Alliance) concerning the Manzanita Lofts Development. ORCA’s mission is to protect the Oregon coast by working with coastal residents for sustainable communities; protection and restoration of coastal and marine natural resources; providing education and advocacy on land use development; and adaptation to climate change.

“Manzanita is not obligated to approve this project on remand; it is free to strengthen its legal rationale and deny it again for failure to meet city standards. ORCA suggests this is a course of action the city can, and should, take. The developers have not changed anything about the project this second time, except having convinced the city to design the remand hearing around their interpretation of the LUBA opinion. That, of course, biases the remand structure from the outset, and ORCA does not commend the city for allowing it.

“ Manzanita needs to do further work to determine whether, how, and to what extent the current proposal meets the city’s density standards for residences, and traffic and transportation standards. As the applicant does not appear to have changed anything substantial in the application to deal with the city’s concerns, ORCA hopes and trusts Council will continue its far-sighted protection of a vibrant residential area of town, and deny the project again, this time with a more watertight legal rationale to support its findings.”

For anyone who has been engaged in this process please attend in person or by zoom the May 15th 4:00 PM meeting of the Planning Commission.

Barn doors and a window for sale

Submitted By: aprilclarkyoga@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
BARN DOORS:

We’re selling a set of two indoor barn doors that are brand new, still in the box and really pretty.

The set of two measures out to 72″ x 84″ total.

They come with all the railing and installation hardware.

We haven’t even opened the box because we wound up going with other doors for the project we’re working on.

New, the set was $784. We’re asking $600. (Let me know if you want me to send you the original link to where we purchased them about three months ago.)

LARGE WINDOW:

We also have a 5’x5′ large, square, double-paned window that we do not need (we bought two and wound up just using one). We are asking $100 obo, and willing to negotiate — need to get the window out of our garage tbh.

We are in Nehalem.

Feel free to text me (805) 459-3292

AND we have a few older cabinets up for grabs for free (posting a separate post about those.)

FREE Cabinets, shop lights and a bale of hay

Submitted By: aprilclarkyoga@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
We have a few things up for grabs in Nehalem that we’re hoping can find a home instead of getting thrown out.

We have two different cabinets for free if you could use them!

One is a two-door upper cabinet that has good space—great for a shop.

The other cabinet is more of a shelving set or bookshelf – it has glass doors not pictured that you’re welcome to take, and has mirrors included. It was the upper part of a built-in unit in our house. Could be fun to get creative with it.

And we have the two different shop lights pictured.

They come with bulbs and are still working great.

The long ceiling light would need to be hard wired to your space. The other is a plug-in.

Also have a nice, dry bale of hay we don’t need if you’re interested. All first come, first served. In Bayside Gardens in Nehalem.

Support for Health Care Bond Vote YES

Submitted on behalf of Yvana Iovino, MD yvana.iovino@gmail.com
I strongly support the Nehalem Bay Health District’s bond measure in the May 16 election, and I hope my experience will help voters understand why.

First, it is important to know that the Nehalem Bay Health Center (NBHC) is a FQHC (Federally Qualified Health Center).

FQHC clinics are outpatient, low-cost clinics that receive federal grant funding and have specific reimbursement systems under Medicaid and Medicare. For a health center to qualify for federal support, it must meet strict standards:

• Provide services to everyone, regardless of their ability to pay
• Offer a sliding fee program
• Be a public or a non-profit organization
• Be community based
• Have a board of directors composed mainly of their patients
• Serve a medically underserved area
• Deliver comprehensive primary care services
• Have an ongoing quality assurance program

The Nehalem Bay Health Center is also recognized as a National Health Service Corps site. These are sites where newly minted physicians or dentists can seek a position in return for loan forgiveness.

When I came out of residency, I was not in the loan forgiveness program, but I did want to serve an underserved population.

Once clinics and hospitals know that you are looking to work in these areas, they begin to heavily recruit you; each clinic showing off what they can offer in terms of modern equipment, congenial colleagues, housing, etc.

I was lured by Navajo Area Indian Health Service because the recruiter was knowledgeable, responded quickly, and I was attracted to the area – Chinle, Arizona – despite it being remote because wonderful doctors worked there.

I provide this background to underscore that a new, modern health center in north Tillamook County with a seasoned medical staff that can mentors new physicians will attract new doctors and providers to our area. We already have the natural beauty and to be honest, we are not THAT remote or rural.

The Health Center has also done amazing outreach, including distribution of culturally appropriate food boxes to families in need and attendance at health fairs to educate and sign people up – both in Spanish and English – for Affordable Care Act benefits.

The NBHC also started a successful school based health center at Neahkahnie High School for students, teachers and families, and developed a transportation program to help people visit the health center. All of these efforts provide incredibly valuable services to the community, but there can be even more, and we will need more in the future. The bond measure addresses current needs, but also plans long term.

A new facility will improve quality and accessibility for everyone in the community, will attract more medical staff and benefit seniors, families and children.

I really hope the community supports this opportunity.

(Dr. Yvana Iovino is a retired OB/GYN. She practiced with the Indian Health Service in Arizona and with the Yakima Valley Farmworkers clinic in rural Eastern Washington. She lives in Manzanita and serves on the board of the non-profit Nehalem Bay Health Center and Pharmacy.)
