September Brings Art, Improv, Astrology & Dancing to Bay City Arts Center
BAY CITY, OR — September 2026 — The Bay City Arts Center is filling September with opportunities to see art, learn something new, get creative, and connect with the community. This month’s lineup includes two new gallery exhibitions, oil painting workshops, an astrology series, adult improv, and an evening of square dancing and live folk music. Please reach out if any workshop costs are out of your means. We are happy to provide assistance.
September Artists of the Month
Gallery Reception: Friday, September 4, 5–7 p.m.
BCAC’s September exhibitions feature oil painter Erica Robin in the downstairs gallery and ceramic artist Kristina Vatne upstairs. Robin’s surreal, visionary paintings explore connections with nature, spirit, and one another. Vatne’s one-of-a-kind ceramics combine functional forms with intricate hand-carved designs. The exhibitions will be on view throughout September.
Oil Painting with Erica Robin
September 5 & 19 | 10 a.m.–2 p.m.
Learn the basics of oil painting in a welcoming, hands-on four-hour workshop with artist Erica Robin. Participants will explore color mixing, brushwork, composition, depth, and more. Beginner-friendly.
$125 per class / $100 BCAC members.
Surfing Celestial Waves: Introduction & Demystification of Astrology
Thursdays, September 10, 17 & 24 | 6–8 p.m.
Curious about astrology? This three-part beginner-friendly series with Ed Cady explores the history of astrology, zodiac signs, planets, houses, birth charts, and the relationship between astrology and astronomy.
$80 / $60 BCAC members.
Improv for Adults: Stretch Your Imagination. Find Your Play.
Fridays, September 11, 18, 25 & October 2 | 7–8:30 p.m.
Kids shouldn’t have all the fun! This four-week improv series with Lindy Cady invites adults to loosen up, play, and build confidence through theatre games and improvisation. No scripts, memorization, or previous acting experience required. The final class will include an optional audience-suggestion session.
$100 non-members / $75 BCAC members. Open to adults 18+.

Square Dancing & Live Folk Music
Saturday, September 12 | 6 p.m.
Come dance, listen to live folk music, and have some fun! Bex and the Bees will provide the music. Adults $15; kids free. No pre-registration required.
Food donations are also welcome in lieu of admission. Non-perishable donations will be distributed to local families.
