The revered, Brooklyn-based songwriter Mirah performs a free concert in the park in Cannon Beach on Sunday, July 19th.

Emerging from the fertile turn-of-the-century Pacific Northwest indie scene, Mirah has been called “one of the smartest and most exciting young artists in America.” Fader magazine wrote that her early records “went on to inspire a new generation of indie musicians, drawn in by Mirah’s deft and introspective songwriting.”

The New York Times described Mirah’s voice as “airborne, a sweet soprano with a steadfast core, as the songs moved through laments, recriminations and resolve.”

A review of her latest full-length, “Dedication,” released earlier this year, Pitchfork wrote: “The veteran songwriter’s first record in seven years is a wistful account of motherhood, gratitude, and grief. Its unabashed earnestness is its greatest strength.”

The concert will be opened by Portland-based songwriter Anna Diem.

This free, family friendly concert begins at 5:00PM. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets, low-backed chairs and fully stocked picnic baskets.

The park is located in downtown Cannon Beach, northeast of the Chamber of Commerce at 2nd & Spruce.

The concert is produced by the Tolovana Arts Colony and made possible by a Community Grant from the City of Cannon Beach.
