Last night I had the pleasure of attending “Fahrenheit 451” presented by the Pirate Players at Neahkahnie High School, a play based on Ray Bradbury’s dystopian novel. The students did an incredible job, acted with skill and verve, delivered long monologues, and accomplished the many lighting and set changes.
I first read “Fahrenheit 451” for my high school English class, over 60 years ago. The theme of censoring books and substituting state programmed television struck a chord then, and it continues to be relevant today. These students did an impressive job of engaging with this thought provoking material.

Two more nights to see the show—7pm this Friday and Saturday. $5 for a ticket. Upstairs in the High School gym.
Park in the back of the school as entrance to the play is by the back door.

Don’t miss it!
