NTLF Art in the Library Series presents the work of Shirl Ireland for May & June in the Manzanita Library. From the time the art cart appeared in her first grade classroom, Ms. Ireland was stamped an artist. Her passion for drawing, painting and creating took her to college for Art, then led to a life lived as a self-employed artist for decades. Her plein air painting has been featured in PBS, BBC, and National Geographic programing. Shirl’s professional work extends beyond plein air to studio work including murals, functional art, handmade lighting, and fabric design. She authored and illustrated a children’s book focused on Art and taught Art too!
Shirl was commissioned for commercial projects by Six Flags in New York, restaurants around D.C, Great Camps of the Adirondack Park, ski-in mountain homes in Park City Utah and Big Sky Montana. Her paintings can be found throughout the U.S. and Canada, in England, France and Australia and in the collection of the U.S. Department of Interior in D.C.

“I have had the extreme good fortune to live in truly amazing landscapes, now here on the Oregon Coast in Manzanita. You can find me fostering my plein air painting addiction often on the beach, but regularly at the Manzanita Farmer’s Market this summer.” S h i r l I r e l a n d. com
