Free Reclining loveseat

Submitted By: dixiegainer@icloud.com – Click to email about this post
This upholstered reclining loveseat is in excellent condition – It is 6 feet wide -light blue – I have had it under cover ever since I bought it – totally free of stains – the only dirty part is where shoes rest on the footrest.

My daughter is moving in and bringing some of her furniture with her so it has to go.

We do not have any way of moving this so you will have to move it. We will be moving it out of the house on Friday July 18th – If no one wants it the movers are taking it to the dump.

Remain peaceful and do not engage with counter-protesters; if confronted, turn away and walk with a buddy.

Buddies are encouraged for safety—use the buddy system if you feel uncomfortable.

Look for individuals in orange vests for information or assistance regarding event logistics and safety.

Community Support

Last week, we collectively donated 60 pounds of food to the North County Foodbank—let’s do it again! Bring your non-perishable food items to support local families in need, especially children who rely on school meals and summer community services. Donations can be delivered at the event, or sent to:

North County Foodbank (NCFB), PO Box 162, Wheeler, Oregon, 97147

Nehalem Bay Community Services (NBCS), PO Box 232, Nehalem, Oregon 97131 (501(c)(3) organization)

Get Involved!

Bring a friend or family member to help strengthen our movement and community impact.

For questions or concerns during the event, find someone in an orange vest.

Your presence and participation make a real difference. Every action we take—every voice, every donation—strengthens our community and amplifies our message to political leaders. Thank you for showing up and supporting these crucial causes.

If you or your family needs more information about staying safe during these times, please contact someone in an orange vest and we will get back to you.

Thank you,

Join Captain Thron Riggs, retired Columbia River Bar Pilot, at a reception for his show “Wildscapes” at the NCRD Gallery, 36155 9th Street in Nehalem, on Saturday, July 12 from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. Riggs, who has a deep affinity for the Oregon Coast, and particularly the Nehalem Bay area, will be showing 40 new paintings—many showcasing this rugged landscape.
North County Recreation District (NCRD) is hosting the show for Captain Riggs who has generously offered 80% of the proceeds from the show to support the vital role NCRD plays in the health and wellness of the Nehalem Bay area community.
Since retiring from his active, unique standing as one of 14 bar pilots on the Columbia River bar, Captain Riggs continues to enjoy the bounty of life on the north Oregon Coast as an avid surfer, painter, musician (viola), radio host and maritime scholar. He began his career on the sea on merchant ships after graduation from high school and spent 27 years on ships, the last seven as Master. He became a Columbia River Bar Pilot in 1993.
Plan to attend the reception to meet Capt. Riggs on July 12 to meet Capt. Riggs—ever the quintessential sea captain—where he is always standing ready to deliver sea stories or the inside scoop on what it is really like to pilot a giant ship through the world’s most dangerous bar.

Ride share or carpool?

Submitted By: elusivetailwind@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
Greetings!

I’m a resident of Manzanita that may end up with an employment position in Tillamook. The hours are a bit outside of the public transit windows, and am curious as to whether there may be someone that commutes to Tillamook that is looking for/willing to accommodate someone for a ride share/carpool? I would certainly offer to split gas, and perhaps even offer up some cooked/baked treats! Would possibly only be looking for a one way excursion, as public transit would be able to cover the other. Please feel free to contact me through email with any questions, suggestions, or offers. Thanks so much for your time!

Manzanita Farmers Market week 9: Friday 4-7

Submitted By: info@manzanitafarmersmarket.com – Click to email about this post
We made it through the big holiday weekend, and summer is upon us!  This marks the halfway point of the farmers market season, and the summer goodness is really starting to roll in.  Peaches are here and beautiful, and blueberries are hitting their full production.  Our vegetable growers have more every week, with abundant peas, zucchini, cucumbers, and more.  I haven’t seen any tomatoes yet, but they are coming soon!

This week’s music is by Sedona Fire Band, a market favorite!  This local band brings great energy to the market, with a mix of originals and covers from jazz standards, to blues, to rock, to pop, to folk classics.

Our community booth tablers this week are the North Coast End of Life Collective and Paid Leave Oregon, and the NCRD will be providing kids’ activities.  See you there!

Habitat Restoration Open House with the Nehalem Bay Watershed Council

Submitted By: info@nehalemwatershed.org – Click to email about this post
Nehalem Basin Partnership Public Meetings
The Nehalem Basin Partnership is hosting a series of site tours and public meetings to share salmon habitat restoration work that has been done in the Nehalem Watershed. Public Meetings will be held from 4-6 pm on July 13th, August 4th, and August 17th in the Gallery Room at the North Coast Recreation Center.

These meetings will be an opportunity to learn about habitat restoration opportunities available to residents of the Nehalem Watershed as well as past and present projects. This meeting will feature a screening of Nehalem Bay Watershed Council’s documentary about wood placements on West Fork Coal Creek, a slide show of current and past restoration projects, and tables with representatives from Soil and Water Conservation Districts, The Backyard Planting Project, and the Natural Resources Conservation Service.

The goal of these meetings is to share the available restoration opportunities with landowners and encourage them to sign up to explore restoration opportunities on their own properties. Landowners who sign up will be contacted to schedule a visit where their property goals and habitat restoration opportunities will be explored. Then they will have the opportunity to get scheduled into the Nehalem Basin Partnership’s 10-year work plan!

For more information about the public meeting or about the Nehalem Landowner Engagement Initiative please contact the Nehalem Bay Watershed Council at info@nehalemwatershed.org. Even more information on the Nehalem Basin Partnership and our outreach initiative can be found at www.nehalembasinpartnership.com/Nehalem-landowner-engagement-initiative.

This work is funded by grants from the Oregon Watershed Enhancement Board and the Siletz Tribal Charitable Contribution Fund. We thank them for their support of habitat restoration in the Nehalem Watershed.

United Paws’ Cat of the Week: Meet Daisy

Submitted By: website@unitedpaws.org – Click to email about this post
Daisy is a beautiful tan and black tabby with a luxurious white chest & belly. Her
greenish yellow eyes are rimmed in black, which complement her black-tipped nose.
Daisy was rescued by United Paws after being found exhausted, starving and heavily
pregnant. Although she was barely a kitten herself, Daisy gave birth to seven healthy kittens.
She also generously nursed another orphaned kitten when she first arrived in foster care. The
kittens are now fully raised and Daisy is ready to find a loving, forever home of her own.
Never given the chance to be a kitten herself, Daisy loves to spend time each day
playing. Wand toys and small felt balls are her favorite. She especially loves to chase balls down
a flight of stairs. Daisy knows her name and usually comes running when you call her –
especially when it is playtime. But when playtime is over, Daisy is ready to relax and hang out.
Daisy will make a wonderful companion because of her calm and quiet demeanor. She
loudly purrs when you scratch her neck or give her a brushing. She is learning to be a lap cat
and is surprisingly fine with having her front claws clipped. Her favorite game is using a
cardboard scratching post and getting a treat afterwards.
Although she had a rough start to life, Daisy is ready to bring sweetness and joy into your life.
To learn more, please visit unitedpaws.org or call 503-842-5663.
