We’ve got a little extra room and we’re looking for just the right artists and crafters to show/sell their work.
The details: there is no cost to show, and you don’t have to be there. It’s more like a pop-up shop/gallery. We set up, handle all sales, you keep 75% of the proceeds.
We’re looking for handmade work produced in our community. And, here’s the catch: we’ve got a number of styles/disciplines covered already. Which is to say, we’ve already got a candle-maker (actually two) so we’re covered in that regard. Wall space is also limited.
Anyway, show us what you’ve got–send photos and hopefully we can add you to the show.
And, as always, when it comes to holiday gift buying remember to SHOP LOCAL!

With sporadic help from our government, it is important in our community and surrounding areas that we stay on top of the push to keep our North County Food Bank and the Nehalem Bay Community Food Pantry secure. The North County Food Bank is open on Tuesday. You can take food there on Tuesday from 10 AM to noon. They are only able to take food at this time-no clothing or such. The mailing address for them is NCFB, PO Box 162, Wheeler, Oregon 97147. Or you can bring food you would like to donate to our protest. Nehalem Bay Community Services, located at the Methodist Church in Nehalem, is requesting food, both for people and animals, plus kitty litter. They can take clean, used clothing, blankets, bedding, pillows, and personal care items. They are open Monday, Friday, and Saturday from 10 AM to 2 PM. Also, on Wednesday from 1 PM to 5 PM.
Please do what you can when you can. The North County Resistance was taking donations at their protest this past Saturday. It worked very well with both donations and cash for these two organizations. Thank you all very much.
Well, where do we go from here? North County Resistance is looking at all our unresolved problems. We thought the Democrats would remain unified. Who is going to stand up and push for more negotiations. Our Resistance will carry on. We will continue to Protest.
Please join us in our Protest if you are not happy with all that goes on. We need you to come and join us.
Best,
Patty

The Neahkahnie Water District is looking for a certified, experienced, motivated individual to manage the operations of our small water utility that provides water to about 400 residences. The District is located just north of the city of Manzanita on the beautiful north Oregon coast. The Operations Manager will work alongside and in conjunction with the Business Operations Manager; these are the only two staff for our water district and work with various contractors. Both roles report directly to a board of 5 elected commissioners.
The Operations Manager is the key role for maintaining our water delivery systems. Our water is sourced from pristine springs on Neahkahnie Mountain. In this role you must be comfortable working alone, being self-directed, problem solving and have a let’s get it done attitude.

PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE
WHAT: City of Rockaway Beach Public Hearing on Ordinance 2025-05 Amending Zoning Ordinance Related to Flood Hazard Overlay Zone and Public Hearing on Ordinance 2025-06 Amending Comprehensive Plan Related to Flood Hazard Overlay Zone
WHEN: Wednesday, November 12, 2025 – 6:00 P.M.
WHERE: Rockaway Beach City Hall, 276 Hwy 101 – Civic Facility
WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT?
Per the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), all communities that participate in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) are required to implement Pre-Implementation Compliance Measures (PICMs). These PICMs provide communities with the authority to regulate/limit/prevent development in Special Floodplain Hazard Areas (SFHAs).
This is a significant opportunity to protect our precious floodplains and wetlands and improve public safety. These measures must assure “no net loss” to one or more key floodplain functions. Three broad options were provided which roughly translate to:
Permit-by-Permit – This is considered to be the least protective of SFHAs
Model Ordinance – Moderately protective of SFHAs
Prohibit Development – Most protective of SFHAs
It is important to note that there are active high-level lawsuits that have delayed final direction from FEMA, but these interim ordinance and comprehensive plan modifications will set the stage for how well a community can protect its SFHAs in the meantime. What the City of Rockaway Beach is proposing to adopt on November 12th, is the least protective option of Permit-by-Permit. In fact, the City stated that: “Adoption of the ordinances will ensure compliance with the minimum standards for participation in the NFIP in Oregon” (emphasis added)
HOW TO PROVIDE PUBLIC COMMENT
• Written Comments may be submitted electronically by sending an email no later than 48 hours prior to the meeting to CityHall@Corb.us
• In Person – sign-up sheet and instructions will be located on the table outside of the meeting room
• Virtually on Zoom – use the “raise hand” feature when the Mayor announces it is time to do so
POTENTIAL TALKING POINTS (questions dick.nccwp@gmail.com)
Request that City does not proceed with the least protective option
Ask the City to consider prohibiting development in the SFHAs which would:
Prevent catastrophic loss to property
Protect our precious wetlands
Protect the groundwater wells that are part of our drinking water system
Protect several species of fish that rely on these areas
Protect other critical species that rely on these ecosystems
Reduce flooding potential
Demonstrating “No Net Loss” to a key floodplain function is extremely difficult to accomplish, regulate, or monitor.
Detailed information on the City’s proposed ordinance and comprehensive plan modifications can be found at Community Development – City of Rockaway Beach
