Natural Breast Health Workshop

Submitted By: wingsforwisdom@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
Please join me, Libby Golden Seaver, Health and Movement Coach, for a fun, informative skill sharing evening. This Friday November 21st at Sea Dream Yoga in Nehalem.

October was breast cancer awareness month, but that’s not the only month we should care for our breasts or learn more.

Do you have a breast care routine? Do you know which breast cancer risk factors you align with? Knowledge is power. Learning yours as well as steps you can take to steer away from them instead of deeper into them is possible and less scary when we talk about it together.

In this workshop, you’ll learn a massage routine that doubles as self-exams and includes focus on lymphatic drainage, acupressure, reflexology, aromatherapy. We’ll discuss foods that balance hormonal health and clear excess ones from our bodies. You’ll explore introductory moves to fascia freedom from Joy Lymph Flow classes that are particularly beneficial to breast health. Plus a near-infrared light experience.

Come with the name or location of your favorite mountain/s in our area as we honor our own in the name of preventive wellness.

Workshop is 2.5hrs and is only $44

Bless you Dixie, always doing your homework to stay abreast of current events. It’s healthy to keep reading and thinking (and according to Gene’s post, listening to music). I just wish for a wider political variety of sources. Those calling for civil war generally keep arsenals of weaponry and live in remote areas. More recently it seems Stephen Miller has influenced the administration to seek violent confrontations in order to justify militaristic civil response. Protestors have brilliantly turned to fanciful costumes.

Thanks Gene for suggesting music as therapy. I play favorite classical music on a loop all night long and it really helps me. Sticks in my head during the day too 😉

And for the expose on how Trump is informed (not). He of course lives by TV, notoriously so during Jan 6. Lacking education, which he disdains, he learned to shape reality with performance and playing to audience reaction.

I make recurring donations to ProPublica, they do great work, but learned about the misleading Fox News story back when it happened by reading Australia’s ABC website. At the time no US media were reporting it, just focusing on what Trump was saying about Oregon.

Recently there’s been hope the Epstein scandal will bring down Trump. It won’t – haven’t we learned anything? I think the most effective strategy is to expose what’s behind the curtain (a la Wizard of Oz) like ProPublica did. We need much more of that. One problem is media’s reluctance to report speculation…. Then just label it as speculation to avoid legal hassles. It would still better inform the public than all the free airtime they now gift the administration’s deceptions.

Finally, thanks to Patty for the Astorian article. Current federal agency tactics are abhorrent and unnecessary. The cruelty is unamerican, and I think we’d be more effective countering the administration’s narrative by mainstreaming that term – CRUELTY (and GREED) – rather than talking about less relatable terms like authoritarianism. Also, the total lack of any responses to a plethora of media questions is clearly part of the overall strategy. Tech companies, notably Tesla, have long shown it works for entities with less than honorable intentions.

It is, most certainly, difficult to take any of dixiedarrow@icloud.com’s opinions seriously when nearly all of her talking points are far from the truth of what is going on in Portland. Coming from a person who has been there – SEVERAL times, day or night, I can say the overblown statements are, at best, bollocks. At worst…well, one can easily figure. As a protester and an American patriot, I find it more than offensive to imply we’re “paid”. It’s also highly dubious (understatement) that ANTIFA is an organized group funded by “elites”. Sadly, people watch carefully curated footage which supports their cognitive bias. What we truly have is, a WAR ON FACTUAL/UNBIASED REPORTING.

United Paws’ Kittens of the Week: Rigger & Skidder

Submitted By: Website@unitedpaws.org – Click to email about this post
Meet Rigger & Skidder, United Paws’ Kittens of the Week. Not long ago these two were rescued by a dedicated UP foster who provided enough love, and food, to help them transform from tiny fragile kittens into magnificent, healthy companions.
Rigger & Skidder are determined to make the most out of every day! These are playful, happy kittens – they will play for hours, then seek out a lap or two for snuggle time. They do not need to be adopted together, though that would certainly be fun.

These two have been fostered in a loving home, socialized, litter box trained and spayed/neutered, and are now ready to embark on new adventures with loving forever families.

CIVIL WAR IN OREGON

Submitted By: dixiedarrow@icloud.com – Click to email about this post
DEFINITION OF CIVIL WAR

A civil war is a war between organized groups within the same country or nation. It is a conflict fought between different factions of people who live in the same country, with the aim of taking power, changing government policies, or achieving secession.

This is exactly what is happening in Portland at the ICE facility, and in Los Angelas, in Chicago and other sanctuary cities. Americans fighting Americans over the the idea of open borders. If a country has no borders – then it is not a country is it? Think about it. Are we Mexico? Are we Canada? There is a group that wants to get rid of our country and its constitution, and have a one world government with themselves as the rulers! Some of these groups are funding the riots! I have not been watching these riots on any news networks – I have been watching videos taken by people who are there at these riots.
Portland, Los Angelas, Chicago…….

In Portland, Police and other law enforcement agencies of the US have arrived – not the national guard – and have finally brought some law and order to this area.( The ICE building was attacked, the windows broken out, and you can see where someone tried to set fire to the building when there were people inside!!). You can see the people who live in that area, plus bystanders, are cheering law enforcement on. Me too!

The streets were blocked by protestors so people trying to get to work or come home from work couldn’t do it. The noise the protestors made kept the people living in these areas from getting sleep. Also some of the people living there were afraid to leave their apartments to get groceries etc. It is a truth that civilization can not exist without law and order.

Some of you older people need to get used to the idea of paid protestors – I think most protestors are paid today. Most of these protestors are groups like Antifa, or BLM, and they are backed by money from persons that want to make big changes or eliminate our constitution and local governments. Resisting law and order!! Defund the police!

Antifa is the group funded by elites that is starting and perpetuating some of these civil wars. Their goal is to destroy this country and its constitution to bring about a “NEW WORLD ORDER” to be totally controlled by a handful of the very elite with no guarantees of any rights the citizens.

This group is called “The globalists”. Representing this group – the WEF -the ”World Economic Forum” can be seen on YouTube. You have to go back a few years to watch them telling the American people how they will live in this new world order, and believe me you won’t like what they say. You will own nothing they tell you, plus they tell you there is no God, so get over it!!

I read that main (lame) street media is going away – most people don’t watch it anymore – basically if you really want to know what is going on – you have to search it out and find information somewhere else!

Quilt squares / star pattern

Submitted By: Artwithmisskaren@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
I have 20 of these hand quilted colorful squares I made a few years back before I had a bad hand/wrist injury.
Each square is approx 11” x 11”

I love hand quilting but just can’t manage anymore with a bad hand. These alone with blocking and edging would make a nice throw for a twin or couch lap blanket. But as creativity and quilting goes could be expanded to make a larger quilt.

There’s a lot of careful hand stitching in these so it would be great if I could get a little cash to pay a bill or tip off grocery costs with everything rising these days.
I probably have other quilting materials and supplies I can dig out if you’re interested.

Winter Wreath-Making Workshop

Submitted By: vicky@netartsbaywebs.org – Click to email about this post
Join Friends of Netarts Bay Watershed, Estuary, Beach and Sea (WEBS) on Sunday, December 7th, for our annual Winter Wreath-Making Workshop. Come embrace the season and leave with your own handcrafted creation using fresh greens collected by WEBS staff and our guest presenter. Participants will learn how to arrange lush boughs, branches, and foliage to create a stunning wreath, festive swag, or beautiful centerpiece for your home. This popular workshop fills up fast, so don’t forget to register to assure your spot.

WEBS is happy to have Phyllis Holmes, a longtime volunteer of the Netarts Community Club, share her design tips and wreath-making expertise. Throughout the year, Phyllis volunteers her time maintaining the landscaping and flower beds around the Netarts Community Club. For the past several years, Phyllis has offered this seasonal floral arranging workshop to her garden club and has graciously offered to do the same for WEBS again this year. No wreath-making experience is necessary.

We are proud to offer this workshop—and many of our programs and supplies—free of charge to help reduce barriers to participation in our community. Contributions are always welcome and help us offset costs so we can continue offering programs like this for everyone to enjoy. A suggested donation of $25 supports our ongoing community programs, though any amount—or simply your participation—is deeply appreciated.

Essential supplies, including fresh greens to build a complete wreath or swag, will be provided by WEBS. However, if participants are interested, we invite you to bring your own;
Wire cutters, gloves, ornaments, ribbon, bells, and any decorations you would like to include in your project.
Metal wreath frames that participants may want to reuse from previous years.
Holiday fabric or felt to decorate mason jars for centerpiece arrangements.

We ask that you consider using recycled, natural and/or biodegradable materials and supplies whenever possible.

Limited capacity. Registration is required. We want to ensure that as many people are able to enjoy this event as we have space for. If you registered but your plans change, making you unable to attend, please let us know so that we can offer your spot to someone else.

Cannon Beach gathering celebrates Native American Heritage November 15-16

Submitted By: wattchildress@yahoo.com – Click to email about this post
Come join us friends!

The Gathering, a celebration of Native American Heritage Month, returns to Cannon Beach for a weekend of art, film, conversation and more, November 15th-16th.

In its third year, The Gathering features a mix of indigenous voices, including filmmaker Katsitsionni Fox (Akwesasne Mohawk Nation), storyteller Karen Kitchen (Osage Nation), scholar Brad Mix (Red River Métis), poet Cliff Taylor (Ponca) and more.

All Gathering events are offered free of charge. Donations are encouraged.

At 7PM on Saturday, November 15th, award winning director Katsitsionni Fox will premiere her upcoming documentary, “Kanenon:we – Original Seeds,” at the Coaster Theatre. The short film follows women responsible for caretaking of traditional seeds whose existence is threatened by centuries of colonial practices. The film explores food security, environmental disconnection, climate change, land theft and more. Following the screening, Fox will be joined by Cliff Taylor for a Q&A.

Earlier on Saturday, the Cannon Beach Library hosts a family-friendly storytelling event with educator Karen Kitchen at 1PM. With traditional stories and song, Kitchen engages children and learners of all ages. Children will also be able to experiment with and make their own indigenous instruments.

On Sunday. November 16th, the Cannon Beach History Center & Museum welcomes Brad Mix for a presentation entitled “Reclaiming the Mixed Blood Story” at 11AM. This conversation will explore mixed-blood identity, not only within the Métis Nation but across Indigenous and mixed-heritage communities today.

“This discussion isn’t just about Métis history,” says Zoe Swain, Cultural Outreach Coordinator at the Cannon Beach History Center & Museum and Gathering co-organizer. “It’s also about mixed ancestry more broadly. The question of ‘how Indigenous are you?’ can be deeply painful for many people of mixed heritage. What’s so inspiring about the Métis Nation is how they celebrate being both European and Indigenous, embracing that dual identity as strength, not conflict.”

The Gathering is produced by Cannon Beach community nonprofits, including: The Tolovana Arts Colony, Cannon Beach History Center & Museum, The Coaster Theatre Playhouse and the Cannon Beach Library. Sponsored by Escape Lodging.

For more information contact the Tolovana Arts Colony at tolovanaartscolony@gmail.com or 541-215-4445.

We gratefully acknowledge the Clatsop and Nehalem/Tillamook Peoples on whose ancestral homelands we gather!
