This year, Tillamook Air Museum is joining the fun and offering FREE museum passes to anyone returning with a bag of trash to our check-in location! Lend a hand to clean up for the future this Earth Day, and earn a free pass to learn about the past.

Friends of Netarts Bay WEBS has been a captain for our local cleanup with several great partners including Tillamook County Parks Department, Netarts-Oceanside Fire District, and Oregon State Parks for over a decade. Friends of Netarts Bay WEBS members and our partners have been working with SOLVE to host cleanups in the area from Cape Lookout to Cape Meares to Bay Ocean for over a decade. Join us this year to help continue this long legacy of stewardship for our bay and ocean.

This beach cleanup is family-friendly! Whether you are up for getting muddy, hiking to more remote spots, or looking to share your love for our coast and the value of volunteering with your family – we have a spot for you! We recommend bringing a bucket, work gloves, and gear to keep you comfortable outdoors. If needed, bags and gloves are available free of charge to all volunteers.

Remember our ocean shores can be dangerous. Avoid logs in the water. Keep your distance from marine mammals, and never turn your back on the ocean! If you find any hazardous material, please alert your Beach Captain. Bring a buddy, stay safe and have fun!

after reading this post, “how to lose our country’s democracy in one easy step,” i googled what the WHO (World Health Organization) is up to. here’s what i found (capitalization is mine): “On 3 March 2022, the Council adopted a decision to authorize the OPENING OF NEGOTIATIONS for an international agreement on pandemic prevention, preparedness and response.

The intergovernmental negotiating body, tasked with drafting and negotiating this international instrument, will hold its next meeting by August 1, 2022, to DISCUSS PROGRESS ON A WORKING DRAFT. It will then DELIVER A PROGRESS REPORT to the 76th World Health Assembly in 2023, with the aim to adopt the instrument by 2024.”

It looks to me like we have plenty of time to observe and read what the WHO might decide to do.

Why the fear-mongering? “with only a few hours left…..” this possible international agreement is being DISCUSSED, not DECIDED.

How We Lose Our Country’s Democracy In One Easy Step!

Submitted By: travishartnett@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
“The World Health Organization is proposing a global pandemic agreement that would give it undemocratic rights over every participating nation and its citizens. Put simply, in the event of a pandemic, the WHO’s constitution would replace every country’s constitution, whether the elected leaders of this country would agree or not. So there you are! I received an announcement of this proposal with only a few hours left to respond to it. Really – an announcement of this type should give more time to respond. I hope my response got there in time. But I don’t think it matters. This is where the New World Order comes into the picture. And once it is implemented it will be forever. No one likes to relinquish power. The only way to get out of this is to get out of the WHO and the United Nations.”

No, that’s not how it works at all:

“Article 19 of the WHO Constitution gives the World Health Assembly the authority to adopt conventions or agreements on matters of health. A two-third majority is needed to adopt such conventions or agreements.”

There’s no “automatic replacement of a nation’s constitution” by the World Health Organization.

“The INB (intergovernmental negotiating body) held its first meeting on February 24, 2022. The second meeting, where the members are expected to discuss the progress on a working draft, is scheduled to be held by August 1, 2022. A progress report is expected to be delivered to the 76 th World Health Assembly in 2023, and its outcome will be submitted to the 77 th World Health Assembly in 2024 for consideration. Intermittent public hearings are also planned.

In December 2021, the World Health Assembly adopted a decision titled “The World Together” at its second special session since it was founded in 1948.
Under the decision, the health organisation established an intergovernmental negotiating body (INB) to draft and negotiate the contents of the pandemic treaty in compliance with Article 19 of the WHO Constitution.
The pandemic treaty is expected to cover aspects like data sharing and genome sequencing of emerging viruses and equitable distribution of vaccines and drugs and related research throughout the world.
Most countries have followed the “me-first” approach which is not an effective way to deal with a global pandemic, WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said in a statement.”

I live very near the Nehalem Bay House and am having issues with a very loud 24/7 beeping from inside the entry way. I’ve called many times and no one responds. The people I have spoken to seem quite irritated with my inquiries. The local person who takes care of the building has turned the beeping off once or twice, but it is a daily occurrence. I hear it from inside my house day and night.
Anyone who can direct me to how to get a hold of someone who may be able to do something? I may sound annoyed, because I am. It has been months of this. It is a faint up side compared to the many others I will not list here. I’d be satisfied with just the beeping being stopped.I understand the company is struggling and have compassion for the situation, but not blatant disregard for disturbing the neighborhood.

Our 10th street community spirit garden in Nehalem is looking for those yummy edible strawberry plants that like to grow around here. We’ve got lots of little ones in our garden this year, and the ones we had years ago are no longer!
Do you have a patch that needs thinning? Or know of nurseries around here with some of your favorite varieties that are ready to be planted?
Thank you community!

Truck for Sale

This is a 2006 Ford ranger. Despite the fact that it has high miles it actually runs fine. It’s been very reliable for local runs. I put on new tires just after I bought it.

I have owned it for about three years and I’ve only put on about 2000 miles.

I have a new truck on the way so this one needs to be re-homed.

It is a four-cylinder with a standard five speed transmission and has 303,000 miles. It needs alignment and has a couple other minor issues.

Measure 29-163

Submitted By: briantjmcmahon@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
I’m a Vietnam veteran. Measure 29-163 on the primary election ballot is an opportunity for people to truly thank a veteran for their service. “Thank you for your service” are shallow words, if only said and not backed up by action. Measure 29-163 would financially support the Tillamook County Veterans
Service Office. The VSO has helped me and numerous veterans in seeking justice and rewarding
our service to our country. Vote yes for measure 29-163 and truly justify it when you say “Thank you for
your service” to a veteran.

Tomato Plants available at Nehalem Bay Garden Club Sale

Submitted By: barbaraandchuck@nehalemtel.net – Click to email about this post
The Nehalem Bay Garden Club will have over 500 gallon pots of at least 19 varieties of tomatoes available at their annual Plant Sale. The sale will be held on May 7 from 9-4 and May 8 from 10-noon and is located at the junction of Hwy 53 and North Fork Rd in Nehalem. (Look for the Horse Sculpture!)

These varieties were specifically chosen by experienced members because they are proven performers in our coastal climate.

Indeterminate tomatoes grow on long vines, generally require pruning to 1 or 2 leaders that need to be trellised.

Determinate tomatoes grow compactly, sprawling laterally, usually don’t require staking (but we still recommend it), and fruit that ripens over a short period of time, but most produce all season here. (list of determinate varieties at the sale below indeterminate list.)
