Friends Flowers

Submitted By: pattyrinehart@nehalemtel.net – Click to email about this post
Have you all heard about the changes to the days Friends of North County Recreation District is selling flowers next to the Little Apple in downtown Manzanita? Well, get a pen and paper, and I’ll give the information to you. Friends of NCRD will start your week out right by having your flower bouquets ready by 9 AM Monday morning. We will also be selling on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. We take Sunday and Wednesday off and spend those two days talking to our flowers, encouraging them to grow. A little aside here-shhh-this is a surprise-Chung and Judy and their three children have owned the Manzanita Grocery and Deli for 25 years tomorrow. August 1 is the day they started running the store. Come on down after 9 AM for a piece of cake and a cup of coffee. They have been wonderful citizens of our community and generous donors to many local events. Ok, you’ve seen how I’ve camouflaged this invite into the Friends information. Back to Friends of North County Recreation District…we take special orders, birthdays, dinner parties, family reunions-we can do it all. Some of us can sign and some of us can’t, but we could do a Happy Birthday Bouquet too. Call Gail at 503-830-3759 if you’d like a special bouquet. We do deliver for free in the local area. As for flower arrangers, we are still short. You can volunteer for this task by calling Gail at the number above.

Writing Alive! offers a weekly writing workshop for women via Zoom on Wednesday Mornings, 9:30 am to 12:30 pm Pacific. We limit the workshop to four women plus 2 back-up writers who fill-in when regulars are unavailable. We have a certified facilitator (Dana Cunningham Anderson, MS) who organizes our workshops, provides stimulating prompts and helps to nurture our positive feedback process.

We are looking for 1 full-time writer and 2 back-up writers for this workshop. Are you interested?

We enjoy three full hours of prompt-based writing in the style of The Amherst Method for Writers and Artists. We usually write to three prompts weekly. Our approach is designed to bring out what is most alive in the writer, supporting new writing in all genres and offering the benefit of focused feedback — what is most memorable; what stands out to the listener/reader, what is working well in the first draft.

Writing Alive! has been offering weekly workshops since the Fall of 2014. Pre-Covid, our workshops met at The Center for Contemplative Arts. Now, all our weekly workshops meet online via Zoom.

Here are the basics for this workshop. If you would like to begin later than August 2 (this week), rates can be prorated for you. Please contact Dana for information about how to make payment:

Unique coffee table for sale

Submitted By: hwill13@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
For sale: antique, industrial style, coffee table or bench. $250 or OBO. Dimensions are: 25″ wide, 58 1/2″ long, 21 1/2″ tall. We used this as a coffee table for years, received lots of compliments on it. It probably has a cool history…but we don’t know what it is. We purchased it at an antique store many years ago.. It’s very heavy. We can try to help lift it into a truck or SUV, but a ramp would be ideal. Located on Bayside Gardens, Nehalem. Call, text or email me, Holly, if interested! 253-278-7256 or hwill13@gmail.com

20×10 Canopy with Screen Kit Shelterlogic 23531

Two, Shelterlogic 23531 20×10 shelters, which feature steel tube frames, canopy roofs, insect net walls, and zippered entry. Also have thin indoor/outdoor carpet floors for each one.

Details and manual available at this website –

www.northerntool.com/products/shelterlogic-maxap-outdoor-canopy-tent-with-screen-house-kit-20ft-x-10ft-white-model-23531-55423#hotbar-description

These shelters cost around $500 each when new, plus the cost of the floors ($100-$200?).

Stouter than the inexpensive pop-ups or plastic framed units.

They were purchased new in 2014 and used at a music camp for 2 weeks each summer during a 6 year stretch. The camp has changed locations and no longer needs the shelters.

Free to local non-profits. All offers from other organizations and individuals will be considered. Any funds received will be donated to the non-profit music camp that the shelters came from.
