While Rice started in traditional blues, he’s built upon that foundation with soul, R&B, folk and country to fashion a welcoming front porch where everybody wants to hang out into the wee hours.
The electric and high-energy band features a horn section and a thumping rhythm section to get your body moving.
“My goal is to reach people in a way that they need to be reached,” Rice says, “to say things they may not get to say or hear things they may not normally get to hear.”
This free, family friendly concert, in Cannon Beach’s downtown city park, begins at 5:00PM. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets, low-backed chairs and fully stocked picnic baskets. Dogs, Frisbees, soccer balls and the like are welcome too.
The park is located in downtown Cannon Beach, northeast of the Chamber of Commerce at 2nd & Spruce.
The concert is produced by the Tolovana Arts Colony and made possible by a Community Grant from the City of Cannon Beach.

Description:
This interactive presentation will discuss the differences between hospice and palliative care, including how the goals of care may differ for each person receiving care. We will discuss the challenges in receiving both palliative and hospice care depending on where you reside, your insurance coverage, and the eligibility requirements. We will also discuss how to work with your healthcare providers to ensure you receive the kind of serious illness care you want.
Presenter:
Barb Hansen, MA, RN, received her BS in Nursing from the Oregon Health Sciences University and an MA in Interdisciplinary Studies from Oregon State University, focusing on Gerontology, Community Health, and Adult Health Education. She has worked in end-of-life care in many roles since 1986. Since July 2015, Barb has served as the CEO of the Oregon Hospice and Palliative Care Association and Executive Director of the Washington State Hospice & Palliative Care Organization. Nationally, Barb serves on the NHPCO Regulatory and Council of States Committees and on the CMS Standing Technical Expert Panel for the Development, Evaluation, and Maintenance of Post-Acute Care and Hospice Quality Reporting Program Measurement Sets. Within Oregon, Barb serves on the POLST Coalition, the Advance Directive Advisory Committee, the Palliative Care and Quality of Life Interdisciplinary Advisory Council, and the Oregon Psilocybin Advisory Board.

Our Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) will be onsite, at The Manzanita Farmers Market, early to start erecting our tent. This is also considered a training activity. It remains critical that as many people as possible be familiar with the tent set up process. These tents are being utilized by local governments and EVCNB as a means to shelter large numbers of displaced people following any disaster.
Inside the tent will be team leads and representatives from all of our preparedness and response programs. Learn more about the CERT program and how you can contribute. Our Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WaSH) team will have equipment to show. WaSH classes are scheduled for the upcoming months, so take a chance to find out how this can benefit you and your family.
The Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) and shelter teams can inform you of our local resources should we need to call on them. The communications team will have their innovative Solar GoBox (SGB) on display. It gives us the ability to communicate when other sources like the internet and cell phones are not working. Learn more about how you can be trained to use an emergency radio “Yellow Radio” to get in touch with neighbors.
The Nehalem Bay Fire and Rescue Team will be in our same area. Team members and equipment will be there.
We encourage everyone to take the chance to stop by and learn how EVCNB can help you be prepared.
Can’t wait to see you all at the Manzanita Farmers Market!
