What: An inclusive and diverse Men’s Group

When: Second and Fourth Sunday of every month

Why: It is beneficial to experience a diverse circle of men – all ages – all walks of life – all points of view – let’s expand the possibilities

How: A few of us have been meeting for over ten years, others are new to the process. Each man adds to the gathering. We all have connection to a vast knowledge. The group intelligence is more expansive than the individual awareness. There is a great release and power in sharing our wisdom and vulnerabilities.

My sincere apologies to all of you who are not straight. I inadvertently left off “sexual persuasion” from the statement in my “why I am voting for Kamala Harris” bbq post about protecting the rights of all Americans. It was a thoughtless oversight.

And it gives me the opportunity to highlight and celebrate love WHEREVER AND WITH WHOMEVER it is found.

The magic of love between 2 adults, no matter their gender, is one of the greatest joys of living. With it we soar in happiness and because of it we can trudge together through the hard times. And the energy of that love spreads to all around us, like ripples in a pond.

Every one of us has a deep and fundamental need to love and be loved.

Love is what matters. Let us celebrate that love.

Beyond the love between 2 adults, imagine what our world would be like if all of us behaved from a place of love. Imagine that our deep wounds are healed and hate, violence, greed and cruelty are replaced by kindness, respect, caring and cooperation.

It is my fervent vision and prayer that humans will eventually evolve to that place of love.

Why I am voting for Kamala Harris

She wants to protect our democracy by making sure all eligible Americans can freely vote without harassment or restrictions.

She wants to create solutions for our countries many problems and will work with willing people of all parties who also want to create solutions.

She wants to protect the fundamental rights of all Americans, regardless of class, race, ethnicity, religion, gender, and abilities.

She wants to make sure women have the right to control their own bodies.

She wants to protect the 2nd Amendment AND protect the lives of innocent school children and adults from being murdered by automatic weapons.

She strongly believes in the rule of law and that NO ONE is above the law.

She wants to make sure the super wealthy and corporations pay their fair share of taxes.

She wants to continue the successful work of making our economy stronger by providing living wage jobs, bringing down costs, reducing unemployment rates, and cutting taxes for working people and middle class Americans.

She wants to build 3 million affordable homes and rentals to stem the national housing crisis.

She wants to make affordable health care a right and not a privilege by strengthening and protecting the Affordable Care Act.

She wants to protect Social Security and Medicare.

She supports the bipartisan border security bill. She wants to secure our borders AND provide an earned pathway to citizenship.

She is committed to ending the opioid and fentanyl epidemic.

She is an effective international diplomat and is fit to be commander in chief.

I believe that Kamala Harris has the will, the intelligence, the temperament, the ability, and the commitment to “form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity.”

NCAM LAUNCH Music Festival Rockaway Beach Saturday Sept. 21st

Join us for Neah-Kah-Nie Coast Arts & Music Cultural Foundation (NCAM) LAUNCH September 21, 2024 at the Wayside in Rockaway Beach!
Free Event Open to All
There is no charge to attend and enjoy music. Our goal is to raise money for the school and support our local artists and businesses, please save your money for raffle tickets.
Event Overview
We will be setting up the Wayside in Rockaway Beach with a large stage, tents, beer garden, and artist booths of all kinds, many featuring interactive exhibits.
Local businesses and residents have donated amazing items for our raffle gift baskets! The event is free to attend, you’ll want to save your dough for a chance at winning some great packages that could include excursions, lodging, experiences, and lots of great art and locally made products.
The event is open to all, it’s family-friendly, it’s totally free to attend, however this is a fundraiser so we will offer VIP packages to sponsors and individuals helping to deliver this event.

Back in July, I was very discouraged that the upcoming presidential election was going to be a contest between two men older than my 78 years. Then it changed.
One old man stepped aside and the nomination fell to Kamala Harris. She practiced as a lawyer, but her only client has been “the people.”
I was impressed by her acceptance speech at the convention and even more by her book, “The Truths We Hold”. She stands for the directions this country needs to go, together.
I reviewed the book for the Pioneer (see link below). The review doesn’t really talk much about the book but it does include a big chunk of her Preface for the book. It fully convinced me to vote for Kamala and Tim.

While I like quite a few things about our Vice President – her vast experience as a lifelong public servant fighting for justice and fairness for her constituents; her poise, level-headedness and effectiveness as a politician; her agility and sophistication representing the US on the world stage; her ability to engage with an extraordinary range of people in a genuine, unpretentious way; her unabashed love of friends, family and country; and her positive, affirming views of America’s future – I am most moved by her commitment to safeguard the reproductive rights of women and in so doing, to save women’s lives.

We’re looking for a Habitat Restoration Project Manager to join the TEP team in Garibaldi, OR.

Tillamook Estuaries Partnership (TEP) is seeking a qualified person to implement our tidal wetlands restoration projects, fish passage barrier removals through the Salmon SuperHwy partnership, riparian enhancements (large wood placement, beaver dam analogs, native plant buffers), and more. We have funding in place for several projects with a lot more to come over the next 5-6 years thanks to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill. Come help us make transformational change along the Oregon Coast.

The original owner Jody will start the handoff. Book lovers will line the road between the two shops and pass the 100 books, one by one, up to Holly, the current owner waiting at the door of the new shop.

We are asking for a $10 donation from each participant upon arrival to the event. Cash is appreciated

Another way you can help us raise money is to choose your favorite book from the shelves of Cloud & Leaf – the first one hundred to respond will have chosen the 100 books to be handed up the street. These books will be the first to be placed on the new shelves. Titles must be available at the store and will need to be picked out by October 1st. You can email your choice to cloudandleaf@gmail.com (if you know we have it in stock) or just stop in. We are asking for a $10 donation when you choose a book.

WHY PARTICIPATE?
All proceeds go toward the build-out costs, including multiple new bookcases, slatwall paneling, storage shelving, seating, et al. The expansion will offer more books, a larger children’s section, more card options, a big art supply section, and room for weekend events including music, author readings, writing workshops, art workshops, and book club meetings. The goal is to create a lovely, lively space that offers room for the community to come together around words and ideas.
Cloud & Leaf Bookstore is moving after twenty years, but we are bringing all the beautiful bookcases and lights, all the ambiance, all the charm, all the careful curation up the street with us. The bookstore ghost has agreed to come along.

News from the Nehalem Bay Health District

Nehalem Bay Health Center and Pharmacy Update

For the week of: 9/23/2024

What to expect:

– The first concrete pour is scheduled for 9/24/24. The pour will consist of the retaining wall footing along the east edge of the property and concrete fill beneath the building’s electrical room.

– Building footing subgrade prep and formwork to begin in the next week.

– Stormwater system installation is scheduled to begin as early as next week, starting with trenching.

Major milestones on the project:

– Under slab plumbing rough-in completed.

– Under slab electrical rough-in completed.

– Retaining wall footing formwork and rebar completed and inspected.

About the new Health Center and Pharmacy

– The new facility in Wheeler will replace the existing Nehalem Bay Health Center and Pharmacy and provide more than 16,000 square feet of space accommodating 15 exam and treatment rooms, a modern pharmacy, a dental suite, x-ray, behavior
health unit and a community room.

– The project is being developed by the Nehalem Bay Health District and the District will own the building.

– Medical personnel and services will be provided by the local non-profit Nehalem Bay Health Center that will lease the new facility from the District.

Kitchen decor, two olive green kitchen towels, one glass pitcher (never used), great size for juice, or flowers, a small basket light green (good for keys, wallet, etc. and a cute sea grass placemat for the middle of the table, also can used as a hot pad. Crate and barrel baskets, and a wicker tray. all in excellent condition, very coastal. The baskets work great for anything, pantry, living room, kids room, laundry room, etc. The wicker tray looks lovely in a bathroom, guest room, with guest towels. Unfortunately, these baskets are very expensive at Crate and Barrel, so you get a deal because I do not need them. All for $25.00 cash please, can be picked up in Manzanita. Thank you!

Posted are the tickets minus the bar scans and ticket numbers. Once a confirmation on the tickets are recieved the tickets can be emailed or physically picked up with the bar scans and tickets included in the printing of the tickets.
