SORDID LIVES OPEN AUDITIONS MARCH 3rd and MARCH 4th

CAST OF CHARACTERS: 7 W / 6 M

Open auditions for all 13 parts will be held at the NCRD Performing Arts Center on Monday, March 3rd, and Tuesday, March 4th,.

Audition details are available at www.riverbendplayers.org

Special Audition Notice: Riverbend Players seeks a triple-threat actress for the role of Bitsy Mae Harling in SORDID LIVES (played in the movie by Olivia Newton-John).
Bitsy Mae is a sassy, charming, down-on-her-luck country singer with a heart of gold.
Think Dolly Parton meets a touch of Reba. Must sing country/blues, play guitar proficiently, and possess some acting skills.
Email the director, Frank Squillo, at fsquillo@riverbendplayers.org

SORDID LIVES is a dark comedy set in a small Texas town, revolving around the eccentric Turpin family and their friends as they grapple with the sudden and embarrassing death of the family matriarch.

Peggy’s demise occurs during an illicit tryst in a seedy motel room with her younger, married neighbor, resulting in a hilariously scandalous cover-up.

As the family prepares for Peggy’s funeral, long-buried secrets and family tensions erupt, leading to a series of outrageous events.

The play satirizes small-town life, family dysfunction, and societal prejudices with a sharp wit and a deep affection for its flawed but lovable characters.

SORDID LIVES celebrates individuality and acceptance, even in the face of the most “sordid” circumstances.

It’s a raucous and heartwarming story about finding your place in a world that often tries to define you.

RATED MATURE AUDIENCES ONLY: ‘Sordid Lives’ is intended for mature audiences. The play contains comedic depictions of sensitive topics, including infidelity, mental health, LGBTQ+ issues, strong language, sexual content and innuendos, and situations not suitable for children or some younger audiences. Audience discretion is advised.

ISO – oral B tooth brush replacements.

Submitted By: Artwithmisskaren@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
I’m a big restore, reuse, recycle and refuse to buy new if I don’t have to. I know it sounds silly to some but I just “need to know” in my heart that I’m doing my part.
It seems the replacements heads for this type of oral B tooth brush’s is no longer sold in stores. I have two tooth brush’s bases and chargers from a set I bought in Costco a long time ago and they are still functioning perfectly. So I’m wondering if anyone has these replacement heads stuffed back in the cabinet that are no longer needed.
Just putting it out there and grateful of the checking.

BANKRUPTCY

Submitted By: dixiegainer@icloud.com – Click to email about this post
Did you know that countries can go bankrupt? A state bankruptcy means the government fails to make debt and interest payments when due.  Can the US go bankrupt?

“Excessive Federal Spending Puts America On Collision Course With Insolvency,” says Forbes magazine.
“Most understand that the federal government spends much more than it collects. If this overspending continues, at some point, America will likely face bankruptcy. Exactly when is hard to say, but it will happen unless Congress gets a handle on its excessive spending.” Forbes mag.

AND THIS IS WHAT IS HAPPENING RIGHT NOW – GETTING A HANDLE ON EXCESSIVE SPENDING. THAT IS WHAT TRUMP IS DOING NOW – GETTING A HANDLE ON EXCESSIVE SPENDING . THANK GOD FOR THAT. IF WE GO BANKRUPT, SOCIAL SECURITY MEDICARE, AND MEDICAID WILL BE DUMPED AS AMERICA TRIES TO BECOME SOLVENT AGAIN.

“Congressional members use the power of the purse to remain in office. This power includes financial promises to constituents and the self-enrichment program whereby members of Congress amass wealth at the expense of the American taxpayer. Corruption in Congress is well documented and includes both Democrats and Republicans” Forbes.

Not only will we be bankrupt, but we certainly cannot fight our enemies without cash – so think about that. In fact our enemies will be watching for weakness!

“Eliminating the U.S. government’s debt is a Herculean task that could take decades. In addition to obvious steps, such as hiking taxes and slashing spending, the government could take a number of other approaches, some of them unorthodox and even controversial.” Forbes”

Thats why? thats why this is happening fast – to avoid disaster. Elon Musk is providing this service for FREE. It is legal. The courts have ruled that this is legal. And we should be grateful.
Both CNN and MSNBC are pushing a paid narrative – paid by the persons who have stolen the most taxpayer dollars. Many states are stealing medicaid funds. That is why an audit is necessary for medicaid.

SO – my advice is to stop watching MSNBC, CNN, They push a very untrue and negative narrative that scares people. Since you can’t do anything about it – watch fun stuff, write a letter about excessive taxes to the governor of Oregon. Write a letter about failing schools to the governor of Oregon. Ask her where the F, our tax dollars are going! Suggest to her that the color red is looking better everyday – those are just suggestions…..

THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS!!!!!

Submitted By: babbles@nehalemtel.net – Click to email about this post
to bbq-land readers,

this brief information from the NYT daily online news is HORRENDOUS AND FRIGHTENING.

there is a picture of a large table with cabinet members sitting next to trump. elon musk is standing in the background.

my comments inserted in CAPITAL LETTERS.

om peace namaste

U.S. citizen

At the first cabinet meeting of his second term, President Trump praised Elon Musk’s cost-cutting efforts and refused to guarantee Ukraine’s security.
Musk, who is not part of the cabinet, attended the meeting and spoke more than anyone except Trump. SINCE WHEN DOES AN “ORDINARY” CITIZEN GET TO PARTICIPATE IN A U.S. CABINET MEETING, LET ALONE DOMINATE THE CONVERSATION. CLEARLY, ELON MUSK IS NOT “ORDINARY.”
In the meeting, Trump said that the head of the E.P.A. intended to fire 65 percent of its staff.

More on the Trump Administration
European countries have tried versions of Trump’s proposed “gold card” visa, which would offer permanent residency for a fee of about $5 million. The outcomes are mixed. NOW ONE CAN BUY ANYTHING FROM THE U.S. GOVERNMENT?

At a confirmation hearing, Justice Department appointees suggested some court orders can be ignored. THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS!

X has given prominent online conservatives a direct line to Musk’s team. They appear to be influencing policy.

The U.S. is talking with several countries that could export more eggs to reduce prices.

Trump’s efforts to pressure the news media and punish political opponents evoke the early days of Vladimir Putin’s reign in Russia.

CLEARLY, THOSE OF YOU WHO VOTED FOR TRUMP HAD NO IDEA THAT HE IS INTENT ON DISMANTLING OUR DEMOCRACY. THIS IS ONLY THE EARLY DAYS. WHAT WILL WE LOSE NEXT? WHAT WILL THE LATER DAYS BE LIKE?

DO ANY OF YOU KNOW THAT HITLER DESTROYED GERMANY’S DEMOCRACY WITHIN SIX MONTHS?

WILL I AT SOME POINT HAVE MY CITIZEN’S FREE SPEECH WRITE TAKEN AWAY? BE INTERNED IN A CONCENTRATION CAMP FOR WRITING MESSAGES LIKE THIS ONE?

‘THE MOUSETRAP’ BY AGATHA CHRISTIE OPENS THIS FRIDAY NIGHT! MEET THE CAST: JULI STRATTON

Submitted By: admin@riverbendplayers.org – Click to email about this post

Riverbend Players kicks off our 2025 Season with our first-ever production of an Agatha Christie murder mystery!

THE MOUSETRAP opens for nine shows Friday, February 28th, and runs through March 16th at the NCRD Performing Arts Center.

Meet the Cast: Juli Stratton

Juli takes the stage for her ninth production with Riverbend, following her last performance in THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG.

Juli is actively involved with Riverbend Players as the board’s vice president, teaches Tai Chi by the Sea, and hosts her podcast, “What’s On Top.”

She lives with her wife, Amy, and their two fur kids in Manzanita.

Juli believes in embracing life to the fullest and inspiring others to do the same.

THE MOUSETRAP by Agatha Christie:

A classic murder mystery occurs in Monkswell Manor, a guesthouse where a snowstorm traps a group of strangers.

As news arrives of a murder nearby, the guests realize that the killer might be among them.

Detective Sergeant Trotter arrives to investigate, but as tensions rise and secrets are uncovered, another murder occurs.

The play is famous for its surprise twist ending, and audiences are traditionally asked to keep the plot’s resolution a secret.

The Mousetrap holds the world record as the longest-running play, debuting in 1952 and remaining continuously on stage.

Get your 2025 SEASON PASS now and save 20%. It’s only available until March 16th.

Tickets and the 2025 SEASON PASS are available at www.RiverbendPlayers.org

Take Your Seat at the Table. Run For Office!

Submitted By: moovoter@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
Hey MooVoters!

Election Time is Coming Up.

Every two years, on odd numbered years, there are elections for Special Districts throughout the United States. There are over 50,000 Special Districts across the country. Special Districts are controlled by boards of five to seven people. They make the decisions that truly affect your day to day life. They make the decisions for schools, fire departments, water, sanitary, transportation, recreation, and more.

Throughout Tillamook County there are 123 Board Positions up for election this May. These boards control over $200 million throughout the county. Would you like to be part of making the decisions that affect Tillamook County? Now’s your chance.

To run for a seat you must be registered to vote and live in the district for the seat you’re pursuing. Some districts are further separated by zones. If a seat lists a zone, you must live within the zone of the district to run for that seat. However, all of the voters in that district will be voting for all of the available seats. If a seat is listed as “position” than you are eligible to file for any of those positions. If you’re confused about what seat you might be eligible for, the friendly folks at the county clerk’s office will help you figure it out.

Although all of these positions are non-partisan, you’re encouraged to seek assistance in your campaign from your party or other organizations. But remember an endorsement from a party doesn’t mean the candidate represents the party, it means the party likes what the candidate represents.

Independent Party of Oregon – indparty.com/contact
Tillamook County Republicans – tillamookcountygop.com/contact
Working Families Party of Oregon – act.workingfamilies.org/forms/apply-for-the-wfp-endorsement

Filing is easy and just $10. You can fill out PDF Form SEL 190 online at sos.oregon.gov/elections/Documents/SEL190.pdf. Then you print it out and file it with the County Clerk at the Tillamook County Courthouse, 201 Laurel Ave., Tillamook, OR 97141. You may also pick up blank forms at the clerk’s office. You can mail the filing plus fee, or go into the office. The deadline to file is March 20, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. Good luck!! And, thank you.
