Annual End-of-Summer Picnic in Manzanita September 1

Submitted By: northtillamookcountyfoodbank@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
It’s almost time for the annual Manzanita end-of-summer picnic. Beloved by both locals and visitors, this family-friendly Manzanita tradition has provided tasty food for all and funds for North County Food Bank since the 1990s. The event will take place at the Pine Grove Community House at 225 Laneda Ave. on Monday, September 1, from 11 a.m. through 2 p.m.

Manzanita Grocery and Deli, otherwise known as the Little Apple, sponsors the event, providing all of the food. North County Food Bank volunteers dish up hamburgers, hot dogs, salads, drinks, and desserts to residents, second homeowners, and tourists surprised to find a free meal while walking down Laneda Ave.

While there is no specific charge at the door, the event is a fundraiser for the North County Food Bank, and attendees are encouraged to donate money or non-perishable foods. North County Food Bank faces particular challenges this year as the organization must move from its long-time home at the old Wheeler Hospital. The Food Bank appreciates the generosity of both Chung and Judy Lee, owners of the Little Apple, and all those who contribute to help keep North County residents free from hunger. If you can’t make it to the picnic but would like to donate, you can send a check to NCFB, PO Box 162, Wheeler, OR 97147 or donate on the website.

A Dream

Submitted By: jettkeyser@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
It is my hope that we find ways to emerge
out of our safe enclaves, ways to unite
into collective actions that will begin to
effectively block and heal the disease
that is upon us. A deep bow to our lost
elder and our dear Barbara.

A Dream

A flag, a bible, a stream of endless
lies, your word means nothing to you.
The art of your moment is deceit.
Every lie a slight of hand, a distraction
inviting hate. Broker of treason and
intimate assault, you have no idea
what you are doing. You lost the dream
of America. We all see there is a better
than this. We carry the decency to keep
a promise, hold the wish to serve, honor
an oath to follow and enforce the law.
Together, we will find a way; Take back
the power and voice of the common good.
Your assumed privilege will be denied,
the energy of hope will rise, the long arc
of justice will slowly open again.
Behind bars, you can heal what is broken
or go down failing in your own mad bunker,
as the light of America returns, a dream
that will endure, out of many, one.

Manzanita Farmers Market Friday 4-6 pm: Rain or shine!

Submitted By: info@manzanitafarmersmarket.com – Click to email about this post
It wouldn’t be a coast market season without at least one soaker, and it’s looking like tomorrow is the day. That said, the show must go on! Market will take place, rain or shine, but we will be closing one hour early in deference to the weather. (Open 4-6 PM)

Farming is a rain or shine endeavor. It’s the middle of August: crops are growing, and they need to be harvested on schedule to keep yields high and production steady. Our farmers only have so many weeks to produce, harvest, and sell everything. Careful planning goes into ensuring a full enough market stand with sales sufficient to carry the business through the winter.

It’s a similar story for our non-farm vendors: market vending is seasonal, and each week is important to ensure a business’s success. We will have a smaller group of vendors tomorrow, since some people’s products are vulnerable to damage in the rain, and they’ve opted not to put their stock at risk. But many of our intrepid coastal vendors will be there tomorrow, and I hope you will too!

We’re coasties. Let’s embrace this rainy climate we all love! Put on your rain gear, come down to the market, and join us in gratitude for the beautiful fresh water that falls from the sky to keep our home clean, cool, green, and beautiful! And let’s enjoy the amazing food supported by that rain: the season is in full swing and you can expect to see all the produce, including abundant tomatoes and corn.

See you at the market, Friday 4-6 pm, 635 Manzanita Ave!

If you’re concerned about the National Guards presence in DC read on

Submitted By: lfelley@nehalemtel.net – Click to email about this post
This comes from MomsRising.org. “At a press conference Monday afternoon, President Trump declared that he’s taking over the Metropolitan D.C. police and sending the National Guard into the city. Citing a public emergency due to a surge in violent crimes in DC. The fact is, President Trump’s claims that there is “rising violence in the capital” is false. In fact, violent offences fell after reaching highs in 2023 but in 2024, they hit their lowest levels in 30 years. [1] What’s taking place in DC is nothing new. The Trump administration has targeted DC and its allies before. DC will not remain silent but it needs your help. Tell your member of Congress to stand down the escalation of federal forces and respect DC. Here’s what’s happening: The President has formally declared a public safety emergency, stating that the Justice Department is now in charge of the Metropolitan Police Department. With plans to activate and deploy 800 National Guard. The troops will start to appear on DC streets as soon as this week, working in shifts of 200 to provide “a physical presence in support of law enforcement.” [2] However, the data is the data and it shows that DC is currently at a 30-year violent crime low and DC’s crime stats show that violent incidents have dropped this year. What’s clear is that crime is falling in DC; there’s been a substantial drop in violence since the summer of 2023. [3] The dismal and bleak image that the administration paints, is not the reality for many DC residents. In fact, District leaders have condemned the President’s actions and criticized the takeover of the police department. [4] Tell your member of Congress to stand down the escalation of federal forces and respect DC. Here’s how you can help: DC is home to 700,000 residents but they don’t have a single voting member in Congress. Meaning, there is no one to advocate on their behalf so we’re asking for help from allies across the country and that includes you.
DC wants Congress to do everything within their power to stand down the escalation of federal forces in the District. They need members of Congress to stop freezing the local budget, stop the attempt at overturning local laws and to pass H.R. 51, the “Washington DC Admissions Act,” which would grant Washington, DC statehood. Thanks for all you do, Namatie, Monifa, Nate, Kristin, and the whole MomsRising.org & MamásConPoder Team P.S. Please take a moment to take action – and then also to pass along this action link to other people in your life (and to post the action link on your social media).” Thank you! Lydia Felley

Drumf’s stablecoin: worse than CBDCs!

RE: Here in America, during ‘red’ regimes, ‘blue’ folks can expect a lower social credit score, and during ‘blue’ regimes, ‘red’ folks can expect a lower social credit score.
How far the totalitarians will go remains to be seen.
Want a revolution?
USE ONLY CASH

I’m 70 years old and have been using only cash/debit only for more than 40 years. Through the years I’ve paid off car and house loans and other major big purchases (Home Depot, Lowe’s, and other major companies for home upgrades etc). I was maintaining the highest FICO/credit score for years. As when I did apply for credit, I the paid the intial balances in full on the first payments. Thus, maintaining good/excellent credit scores.
Since, I know longer am making any major purchases using any issued credit cards my FICO score is declining. Though, I’ve kept a few of the credit cards open they haven’t been used for years. As I was told closing them would lower my credit scores. However, my credit scores are currently declining. I’m
sure is due to NOT using credit and only paying cash.
I’m not understanding how using only cash wether you are ‘red’ or ‘blue’ during any blue or red regimes lowers credit scores. As my once excellent score has been declining since I don’t use cash.

Drumf’s stablecoin: worse than CBDCs!

The interview linked above is an outstanding explanation of what the dissolution of cash will mean for each of us, regardless of political party, religion, etc.
In my view, MAGA was right to oppose CBDCs (Central Bank Digital Currencies), as they are totalitarian, anti-freedom and anti-American.
Like Drumf did when Epstein’s buddies got away with all sorts of sick stuff during the Biden regime, he also harnessed the anger of MAGA over Biden’s planned CBDCs.
What liar Drumf has done is worse: he is privatizing the upcoming totalitarian no-cash digital payment system, and that will mark the official end of our once great country.
Now Epstein’s buddies (most of his crimes were financial), Musk, Jamie Dimon the Rothchilds, the Rockefellers, etc., will now be in control of our digital payment system, complete with a social credit score, like has been done in China for several years now. Here in America, during ‘red’ regimes, ‘blue’ folks can expect a lower social credit score, and during ‘blue’ regimes, ‘red’ folks can expect a lower social credit score.
How far the totalitarians will go remains to be seen.
