Four buffalo in Red, Yellow, White and Black gather around a medicine wheel, pointing in the sacred Four Directions. The Lakota people depended on Pte, the bison, for food, clothing and shelter, and honored them as “The Buffalo People.” In this design, artist Jim Yellowhawk embraces Mitakuye Oyasin (“We are all related”), a Lakota belief that all living creatures are family, and can live in harmony and peace.
Part of our Legendary Collection, this design honors stories and symbols of Native American cultures. Each year a new collector’s blanket is added to the series.

A blanket with a story to tell, based on a work by artist Preston Singletary. The image represents Raven, a shape shifter and trickster. In the story, the old chief who lived at the head of the Nass River kept his precious treasures—the sun, the moon and the stars—in beautifully carved boxes. Raven steals the boxes and makes his escape into the night sky, carrying the sun in his mouth. The sun is a metaphor for enlightenment or knowledge. The ombred background shades meet at the center in vibrant colors of sun and light.

A portion of the proceeds from this blanket will be donated to the American Indian College Fund to help support tribal colleges.

* 64″ x 80″
* Unnapped; fabric is uncombed for sharper pattern definition

2002 Acura 3.2 TL for Sale

I am the second owner of this vehicle. I purchased the car in 2004. I purchased a new vehicle and thus I need to sell the Acura. It is mechanically in good shape and I have been diligent on oil changes and maintenance. It drives well and the body is straight, no dents. It does have some areas where the paint is bad and there are a couple of rips in the leather upholstery (driver’s seat). The mileage on the car is 203,054 miles.

Kelley Blue Book estimates the value of this vehicle in Fair Condition is $2,386. Come by and see the vehicle and make me a good offer.

Please DO NOT email barbaraandchuck@nehalemtel.net.

Please DO email biologycoach2014@gmail.com
if you would like to see the vehicle.

My schedule is generally rather flexible. The car is located in the Manzanita area.

VERY RARE WOVEN BAOBAB AFRICAN BAG

Submitted By: tim4surf@yahoo.com – Click to email about this post
This bag is made entirely from the fibers of one of the rarest trees on earth. The African Baobab. I bought it new 50 years ago in a small gallery in the SF bay area. The label described how native tribes people would split the production with women collecting and chewing the fibers to soften them while the men used colored clay to dye them. The actual weaving could take weeks to finish, which was said to be so closely knit as to hold water. The natural hide tabs show the primitive nature of this piece. Today there are virtually none of these for sale anywhere. I have done an extensive search to verify this. Similar bags are made by the thousands using Sisal fiber which is an Agave Cactus. The 1st two images are the of the bag I am offering, and the third is a modern example made of Sisal. This is certainly a wonderful addition for someone who collects or values ethnic woven art-forms. Asking $225.00 or best offer. Call 503-368-3214
