Event reminder!! This Thursday, July 25 at 6:30 PM, North Coast Communities for Watershed Protection will be holding another of its regular ‘last Thursday of the month’ grassroots, public meetings at the St.Mary by the Sea Parish Hall; 275 S Pacific St; Rockaway Beach Oregon.
Our goal is to increase citizen involvement regarding the future of the Jetty Creek Watershed and other coastal drinking watersheds. There will be an update about where Rockaway Beach is at with it’s bid to buy the Jetty Creek Watershed. Also, a speaker will be explaining the Rural Organizing Project, which is a statewide organization that supports a multi issue, rural centered, grassroots base in Oregon.
Everyone has the right to abundant clean and safe drinking water. This is a basic human right .
Please join us this Thursday to learn about and discuss these important issues. This will be an in person meeting, but it will also be available on zoom for those unable to attend. Please email rockawaycitizen.water@gmail.com to request a link.

Singer/guitarist Kris Stuart of Wanderlodge and Root Jack, is a traveling troubadour wandering the west.

Folk music, blues and country melt together in songs of sin and salvation written and gathered from a lifetime of mining for music.

Sometimes seen as lead guitarist for Americana Stalwarts such as Willy Tea Taylor and the Fellership, Jaime Wyatt, The Turkey Buzzards or Riley Downing of The Deslondes.

Kris has shared stages with rock and roll legends like Foghat, The Marshall Tucker Band, Blue Oyster Cult, and Molly Hatchet, as well as soon to be legends The White Buffalo, Scott H Biram, Jesse Dayton, and Blackberry Smoke.

He has earned his place by playing most nights in a small room for a few people and fell in love with the opportunity to play music.

Susan Reinhardt, beloved mother, sister, and grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home in Manzanita, Oregon on May 6th, at the age of 73, surrounded by family and friends.
Come celebrate the life of Susan Reinhardt! There will be food to share, laughs to be had, and a few tears shed (but not too many). Just as Mom would want it. We will gather on July 28th from 2-4pm at the Pine Grove Community Center. The Wondergarden is up the road next to the Manzanita library, and we can gather there if others want to stay longer.

Please, if possible, bring a dish to share or a bottle of wine to open. Bring stories and memories and love.

Join Friends of Netarts Bay – Watershed, Estuary, Beach, and Sea (WEBS) for a FREE event including a presentation and guided tour along the salt marsh at the southern end of Netarts Bay. Learn about the plants and animals in this unique habitat and the importance of this environment from the forest to the water’s edge. Discover how plants survive in a salty world and explore vegetation succession from the bay to the dunes.

This program includes two parts: a presentation followed by a walking tour.

SALT MARSH PRESENTATION

This presentation will review salt marsh habitats and give an overview of the common plants found in these areas and how they are adapted to survive in these salty locations.

SALT MARSH WALK

After the presentation, explore the salt marsh with biologist and WEBS board member, Jim Young. This field-based walking tour includes an easy to moderate 1.5 to 3-mile hike through muddy, wet sand, and loose sand areas. Trails may be covered by brush. This program is best suited for participants 12 years and older who are comfortable with walking in these environments.

Participants will need to provide transportation between locations and may need to purchase a day-use permit at the state park. Participants should wear long pants, closed-toe shoes, or boots (no flip-flops, please, and expect your feet to get muddy) for this adventure. At times, the tour areas will have a moderate number of mosquitos. WEBS has a limited supply of mosquito nets for participants to wear over their heads if they choose. WEBS requests that participants take appropriate precautions to ensure their comfort. Please be prepared for dynamic coastal weather on the Oregon coast.
Cost: There is no cost to attend this program. Donations in support of Friends of Netarts Bay WEBS are welcome!
This event is part of the Explore Nature series of hikes, walks, paddles, and outdoor adventures. Explore Nature events are hosted by a consortium of volunteer community and non-profit organizations, and are meaningful nature-based experiences that highlight the unique beauty of Tillamook County and the work being done to preserve and conserve the area’s natural resources and natural resource-based economy.

It provides a platform for individuals to share their thoughts, fears, and experiences surrounding death in a supportive and non-judgmental environment. As a community, we hold space for laughter and tears, the paradox of joy and sorrow. Adhering to the mission of Death Cafes, participation is free, although contributions to the Collective are appreciated. Death Cafe meets in person AND virtually every month.
