Dance Aerobics and Sound Bath Events in Nehalem this weekend

Submitted By: aprilclarkyoga@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
Ingrid Scott, founder of Dance Pod Aerobics, is offering two special events this coming weekend (Nov. 1 and 2) at the new Sea Dream studio in Nehalem! A crystal singing bowl sound healing event Friday evening; somatic dance aerobics Saturday morning!

Here is some information about these two events:

FRIDAY, NOV 1 | 6pm-8:30pm: “Hush Hour” Sacred Circle and Relaxing Sound Bath

Enjoy an evening of community connection, deep self-love and serenity! You’ll move through a gentle guided somatic experience and be serenaded by a crystal singing bowl sound bath, guided meditation & herbal infusions — known as Hush Hour!

About Hush Hour:

Hush Hour is a sound bath with 7 quartz crystal bowl instruments where we’ll gently remove energy blockages from the subtle body fields and connect deeper within. We’ll do so through gentle guided somatic movement, relaxation meditation, and regenerative sound frequencies that tune the brain to a healing Theta state. This is re-balancing for cortisol levels and soothing for the parasympathetic nervous system.

What to expect at Hush Hour:

~The space is set up to inspire deep relaxation with a supportive intentional cozy environment. You can bring a mat and anything else that will assist you in comfort. Doors open 10 minutes before start time.

~ First we will open our circle with the option to set any intentions you have for the cycle of your life right now, and light a candle for the altar to embody your intentions.

~Next is our sound bath, which is an hour long. We ease into the experience through guided gentle movement, meditations that shift with the cycles and seasons, breath, and visualization to send love, compassion, and healing inwardly and outwardly.

~ After the sound bath you are invited to embody the space that has been created. There will be an opportunity for journaling, sharing, and closing our circle with intention.

When: Friday, November 1 | 6pm-8:30pm

Where: Sea Dream | 35915 N Hwy 101, Nehalem, OR 97131

Art Talk with Robert Gamblin: Paintings from the Cascade Head Biosphere Reserve

Submitted By: i.downes-leguin@hoffmanarts.org – Click to email about this post
Come immerse yourself in the world of November Hoffman Gallery artist Robert Gamblin as he discusses his explorations in color at the Cascade Head Biosphere Reserve at the Hoffman Center for the Arts on Friday, November 1, from 7-8 pm.

In the artist’s words:
“My studio is on the Oregon coast on Cascade Head, part of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. My subject matter is the landscape around me. My intention as an artist is to reach for the transcendent. In the biosphere reserve the transcendent is the normal, not the extraordinary. One must only come with senses wide open to experience it, to recognize nature as profound and powerful in and of itself.”

Robert will show slides and talk about the scope of this work and the influences that inform his practice.
Robert is a founder of Gamblin Artists Colors, an international brand of oil painting and printmaking materials located in Portland, Oregon. He will also be leading an art class on November 3: A Day Exploring Color. You can find out more about both events on our website: hoffmanarts.org/events/robert-gamblin-wrkshp/?

FREE CONCERT: Raye Zaragoza in Cannon Beach, Nov 8th

Submitted By: tolovanaartscolony@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
With galvanizing, original folk songs, Raye Zaragoza kicks of the second-annual Gathering with a free concert at the Coaster Theatre on Friday, November 8th.

Based in Los Angeles, Zaragoza’s indigenous roots inform her artistry.

“The Native community in LA has been a huge part of my life since I moved here at 14,” she Zaragoza says. “Indigenous artists aren’t played on the radio or given space in mainstream publications enough, so I do what I can to be as proud as I can and pave the way for other artists too.”

Zaragoza first drew national attention in 2016 with the song “In The River,” written in protest of the Dakota Access Pipeline.

Her 2020 album “Woman of Color” was recognized in NPR’s “Best Protest Music” of 2020.

In introducing her Tiny Desk concert, NPR wrote: “Zaragoza is a natural performer, able to go big … or pare it all back.”

A feminist undercurrent courses throughout “Hold That Spirit,” Zaragoza’s most recent album. The meditative folk ballad “Strong Woman,” celebrates a world led and built by women.

The concert, produced by the Tolovana Arts Colony, is offered free of charge. Donations are encouraged.

The show begins at 7:00PM. Doors open at 6:30PM. And opening act is to be announced.

The Coaster Theatre is located at 108 N Hemlock St in Cannon Beach.

The 30 Shamanic Questions ~ An 8-Week Journey of Self-Discovery

Submitted By: sbwceremonies@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
The 30 Shamanic Questions are a series of questions channeled by my teacher, Star Wolf, to help us remember the bigger picture of our lives through a process of self-inquiry.

Star Wolf calls these questions “shamanic” because they are designed to guide one through a process of letting go (a symbolic death) of old wounds, attachments and narratives and accelerate transformation and healing (a rebirth experience).

Wherever you find yourself, these questions are designed to help you uncover, recover, and discover more of who you truly are.

Experience Details:

We’ll meet weekly live on Zoom. Sessions will not be recorded.
Dates: 10/30, 11/6, 11/13, 11/20, 11/27, 12/4, 12/11, 12/18.

Time: 4-6pm PST
