GET READY FOR NATIONAL PIE DAY!

Sponsored by the American Pie Council (yes, that’s a real thing!), National Pie Day reminds us to enjoy one of our favorite desserts–after all, we’re celebrating a national holiday! And while officially this day happens every year on January 23, locally, we’re celebrating this way:

15th Annual Pie Day Auction and Feast
Saturday February 8,
3pm (doors open at 2:30)
$15 entry cost ($5 for kids 10 and under).
White Clover Grange
36585 Highway 53
outside of Nehalem, one mile north of Mohler

This Grange event honors the very American tradition of pie baking with a lively auction and feast, and invites our community to sample the cooking talents of 50 local bakers and restaurants. Pies will cover the gamut of flavors—berry, apple, meringue, cream, chocolate, meat pies and other savory creations, plus vegan and gluten free offerings. There is something for every taste in the auction line up as well as on the feast table where everyone gets to sample pie and ice cream after the final bid!

STEAM Coach Volunteer Training: February 13th

You don’t have to be an expert, just someone who is passionate about helping students learn.

Spring field trip season will be here soon, and the Tillamook County STEAM Partnership is gearing up to host hundreds of students on several different field trip programs in Tillamook County. In order for these programs to be successful, the TC STEAM Partnership relies on community volunteers to fill a variety of roles as STEAM Coaches, who lead or assist with activities, help behind the scenes, and so much more. STEAM Coaches are people who believe all students should be able to learn about science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM) subjects through educational experiences that are hands-on and inquiry-based.

This Volunteer STEAM Coach Training is for new and returning volunteers who want to support Tillamook County K-12 students at upcoming environmental education school programs. The focus of the hands-on activities for this training will include wave energy, solar energy, the water cycle, and more.

February 13

9am – Noon (noon – 2pm optional hands-on activities)
USCG Historic Boathouse (1209 Bay Lane, Garibaldi, Oregon)

What: STEAM Coach Orientation presentation + hands on activity demonstrations

FREE Catered lunch social sponsored by @tillamookestuariespartnership

Registration required online at www.Netartsbaywebs.org/events

We look forward to you joining us at this STEAM Coach Volunteer training to learn more about opportunities to volunteer with @netartsbaywebs @tillamookestuariespartnership @nwstudentsoutdoors and other TC STEAM Partners. For questions about this training or if you cannot attend and would like to learn about future opportunities, please contact Rachel@NetartsBayWEBS.org.

What is the Tillamook County STEAM Partnership?

Across the county, a partnership of 20 local organizations works together to provide various STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, mathematics) programs to Tillamook County K-12 students. Together, the TC STEAM Partnership offers students numerous experiential education programs including environmental science field trips, farm-to-table school gardens, science fairs, cultural programming, research projects, professional development, and more. Each year, hundreds of students participate in these programs, which are made possible by volunteer STEAM Coaches. Learn more about the TC STEAM Partnership on the TEP website.
